"Congrats Mount Union

If you take out the 3rd quarter this was a really close game on both sides...

I know we would love to have taken out a couple of third quarters by Mount over the years too.  That's why they have 8 national titles.  LK and his staff have historically outcoached almost everyone they have played and if there is one thing I fear, it is the Purple Raider second half adjustments."

Hey if we are taking out quarters lets take out the 4th quarter in both our games and maybe would have been playing in the Stagg ;D. Great season for the Purple Raiders. AGAIN!!

Ric,

Sorry we missed each other in Salem. I trust you enjoyed yourself. :)

Wow! I waited to post comments until I had caught my breath - and I finally did. That was a great game played by two outstanding teams. UWW should hold their heads high because they never quit. MUC - well what can I say. Once again you proved to be THE TEAM in D3. Congratulations! Jorris, Kmic, and Garcon will be dangerous next year - not to mention Robinson back healthy. Should be fun.

I have read a few "what if's" and they really have no place. The game was played between two teams that made it through the brackets and MUC rose to the top. This is why D3 is so great - the playoffs take the "what if's" out of it. As far as the trash talking goes - well it will always be around. But I read some stuff on here this past week from WW fans that really was below the belt. Show some class for yourself and your team - they deserve it. All the talk does is make your team look bad and you look stupid. Enough said-

Almost forgot - does anyone have a tape/dvd of the game? I will buy it if I must - but I have to have a copy of this one.

Just read through the updates on your site and was amazed by one stat in particular since I made mention of this play in yesterday's game.  I can't believe DT Jesse Wells only had one sack in the 2005 season.  He played like a beast anchoring the defensive line and controlling the line of scrimmage yesterday.  He picked a great time to get that sack but I can't believe he didn't do more damage the way he was overpowering two O-linemen at a time on some plays.

I'm on my mmmmmmmsay40th repaly of the game!    I'm going to give my favorite play :)  Shortly after Kmick broke THE LONG ONE,  the camera panned to LK giving hand shakes. He actually jumped in the air when Garcon went to him. And for A BRIEF MOMENT____LK showed he is a human being on the field. Yes he has done it many other times in many other places.  But if you get the chance, pause your tevo on that emotion,      It won't last long... but it sure is an eye full!       WAY TO ROLL~RAIDERS!  Congradulations! ;)

hey man, missed you there! Its gotta happen again next year, this time no excuses! :D LOL!  Really something special this time and i think LK felt that way as well. With all the distractions that LK dealt with through not only the season but even before the season got going, this Stagg is one to really savor. Savor like that fine chardonnay wine you got in the wine rack, n-i-c-e and s-l-o-w !!!  ;D But knowing LK,  I'm sure he'll be back at it monday looking at how to better this one next Dec 16, 2006! ......well ok, maybe savor it until tuesday, hehehehe

B4-If you can roll backwards and forward, go to the back to back Garcon touchdowns, you know the one they ruled out and the one they ruled in and see if there isn't an old guy in a purple Mount Union jersey amongist all the college kids along the fence in the background. I was talking to two former students when the play happened.

Bus tickets $100.00
game tickets $20.00

HIGH FIVE FROM GARCON AFTER THE TOUCHDOWN-PRICELESS

Thx Pat, appreciate you saying that.  Wish we could have had dinner Friday evening.  Maybe we can plan that if I am fortunate enough to ever go back.  Or next year you need to get your butt to Alliance for a playoff game should we make it. ;)

I enjoyed this one very much.  After losing in the semis last year, Monty leaving and hearing everyone think the roll was over, then losing a regular season game this year, this win is very much up near the top as far as the wins go.

reality check, I know that is hard to believe.  Hey I wanted to tell you, I spoke with Dean Paul's father Friday night.  We had a nice chat at the Mount Union gathering and he had a lot of nice things to say about Mount Union and my site.  He and Dean are both top notch people.  I know you already know this, but you have a good one in Ada!

Ric, now THAT is the modesty to befit a champion!  'If we ever get back; if we even make the playoffs!'

With all the returnees, I dare say most of the d3 world has an MUC-WW rematch already pencilled in for next year!  (Note I said PENCILLED in, but you guys would seem a cinch for 1 and 2 in the pre-season poll.)

Pat Coleman

Funny, that's the story I'm writing tonight/tomorrow out of the Stagg Bowl.

Ric, definitely. This year our Friday night was really busy because I got behind on Thursday having just one person to conduct interviews instead of the three I was originally going to have. If you stop by the media hospitality room at the Hotel Roanoke on Friday you can usually find us at some point.

We got back from Salem around 5:00PM and this is the first time I've had a chance to post.  Not much to say that hasn't been said, but this was one heck of a game.  Two great teams, and not an once of quit in ether one.

What a great season for Mt. Union!! This team matured at just the right time, and pulled off what may be the most thrilling champinonship since '93.

To all Mount's graduating Seniors, thanks for a great four years and yet another title!   ;D  May you enjoy the same level of success all through your lives.

Looking forward to next year - -what a great cast we have returning.  If the Good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise, we'll be there to see it!

Ric - you rabble-rouser you!   ;D

The Linfield faithful as a whole have been insufferable the past year.  Talk about a group of people as a whole that just didn't get what it meant to be the "king".  Yes, that's a broad brush, but I can name at least five or six steady posters that are as clueless as they are classless.

The WEST as a whole was quite the ignorant region.  Having good teams does not make you the region of all time.  Oh, and Linfield, be happy that Whitewater beat you at home, vs. the alternative of having Mount beating them in the semi's, and then completely pounding you in the finals.  You had your time, and your "guy", but now let's see how well you stay on the national stage.  You have proven you will be the "best of the lesser far west", but prove you can be a consistent player on the national stage.

That darn Ric gets me thinking about things that fire me up!   ;D

Most unnoticed or unrecognized "big time" players of the game?

Brauer - he was absolutely HUGE upfront.  He made so many big plays - beating blocks, forcing the QB to run out of the pocket, keeping Beaver from turning upfield.  In my book, he was THE MAN on the DLine Saturday.

Rose - Great job playing DB.  Looking forward to seeing more of him next year.

Mount Union isn't BACK, they never went away.  I might give the MVP for Mount's season to ONU.  Thanks for getting the winning streak monkey off our back.

Larry Kehres is absolutely the best.

On another note.  I heard that the UWW coach was somewhat disrespectful to the Raiders at the banquet, referring to them as the "Red Raiders."  Also heard that the UWW players were talking the blue streak.  Is this true?  If so, they get the KC Keehler award, and the thumping they deserved.

Congratulations to Coach Kehres, the MUC coaching staff and players...You certainly surprised me...MU has certainly become one of the all time wonder stories in the annuls of sports history....charting a path where no others have gone before and where maybe others will never go.  I will continue to follow MUC and all of D3 in the future as it's the best sport in town as far as I am concerned.
