I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Coach LK and the MUC team gave most on this board a present that is hard to match. Hopefully we'll all be able to give our loved ones and others in need gifts that are as meaningful. Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a successful and healthy New Year to all.

Desertraider

Just wanted to thank the Purple Raiders and LK for the amazing gift. I don't know how you'll top it - oh yeah! With number 9!! Dare I even think/dream/expect it?

Merry Christmas to you all and have a safe holiday.

H.S.Coach....great job analyzing Mount's playoff history. I remember especially the two great Allegeny teams of '96 and '97 that nearly beat what were arguably the best teams in our glorious history. Thanks to you . Merry Christmas.

Happy Holidays to all, including to all at D3Football.com that devote a lot of their time for this labor of love.  I hope 2006 is a wonderful year for everyone!

To all who frequent this board:

Though I have never met many of you, we share a common bond.  I often have more meaningful, realistic conversation with you than people I actually "know."

As such, I consider you all my friends.  I am thankful for all of you, for your insight, your passion, and even your inane goofiness.  Here is wishing for more of the same in 2006 and beyond.

Thank you all for what you do, both on this board, and in the "real world" (no matter what you do).  Special thanks to Pat and his crew for giving us this forum.

Good luck to you all, HAPPY HOLIDAYS and many happy tidings for 2006.

Earl

Congrats to Wes Hostetler for getting invited to the Hula Bowl.  Thats big time man.  I got the chance to play against him during the regular season and with him at the Aztec Bowl, and the kid is for real.  Ive never seen someone return kicks like him, he was makin those big Mexicans look like toddlers.  Good lookin Wes, I know you'll wreck stuff in Hawai

Thanks, Pat, Pat, Keith et al for the gift that is D3Sports.com and Ric for MtUnionfootball.com without which I'd be even less informed.

Off to play with my train, excuse me, Kevin's train. ::)
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

A question I have been wondering about for the past few months.  Pat maybe  you can shed some light on it---How does the NCAA decide the divisional breakdown of the teams.  I saw that UWW has 10,500 students. (D3.com says they have around 8,000, but their website says 10,500)  I also found that Notre Dame has 11,500 kids in their enrollment.  Mount only has around 2,200.  Seems kind of weird. Im thinking that the scholarships have something to do with it.  It may seem like a dumb question, but with the difference in enrollment, I had to ask.

Merry Christmas to all and hope the new year goes excellent!

beenhit2hard

Enrollment has nothing to do with division, 1.2.3.etc  it is based on the number of athletic grants available   d1--95 , d 1aa--65 , d 2 35 ,,   d3    none,,naia has some, but not sure of the #

Pat Coleman

Yeah, enrollment is how they break down high schools, not colleges. It's not like everyone is a walk-on, like in high school, and you just pick your team from the kids who show up at tryouts. These players were recruited to come to schools to play football, like at every other D-III school.

Indeed, if they are willing to follow the Division III rules, they are eligible to compete in Division III.

My vote in the OAC goes to MUC not because the stadium has some sort of intimidating quality but rather because you can't help but know where you are when you walk into the stadium.  You just know that so many teams have had it handed to them for the last decade+ there.  It's a cool old stadium too; reminds me of the county fairground horse tracks with the old covered stands on one side.

The carpet at B-W may be the toughest game because of the field surface  but I didn't feel the same when I stepped on that field regarding my surroundings.

gotta laugh when i came across this one!! guess the mystique is gone for ONU now huh?  ;D HAppy New Years to everyone!!

Pat,

Do you have a place on this site that lists the teams with the winningest records all time in d3.  I thought at one time Wittenberg was at or near the top and I was wondering what other tteams would be near there (i.e. St John's, MUC, Augie etc.)

Thank you

Joel
