Apparently his fifteen minutes of fame is just about up"

His fifteen minutes will continue in Columbus because I am sure thats all we will see on tv here is his trial. Wonder if he'll be on Court TV? ;D

A cell phone..... all that for a stinking cell phone. Could go to the big house for 25 years. If he would have asked without the gun the I'm sure the guy would have given it to him.

I'd gladly give him my daughter''s cell phone. Maybe I could retire again. :-\

I understand that Keith may be slipping a bit as he ages, but does anyone else really want to listen to Fouts?

Great point!  I can't stand Dan Fouts.   He's arrogant and obnoxious.  I'm really tired of his " that definitely was a fumble, bad call, etc" stuff as soon as the play has happend.  It started with his calls in the OSU/Miami game in 2002, and it still happens.  It might be splitting hairs, but I think the proper way to call a close play would be to say that it was "really close, we'll need to see the replay to decide that one".  Also not a huge fan of him latching onto Pete Carroll's nut sack all game long.

At least Keith Jackson still has the great pipes.  He might be blind, but hearing him screw up is a lot easier to listen to than hearing Fouts' I'm-never-wrong crap.

What I can't believe is that for the biggest game of the year in college football, that the best ABC can do is a blind guy with a great voice and an obnoxious idiot.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

hscoach,
I could not have said it better myself.  I would like to see Bill Curry do some of the big games myself.  He is someone with football knowledge and seems to stay pretty impartial regardless of the teams he is covering.

Didn't Mount Union once use a bald stooge and a midget to call a game on the radio???

I have to agree with you. He has done a great job with the games I have seen and I though the Mount vs Whitewater game was the best yet. He had done his homework because he was very knowledgable about both teams.

Fouts and ESPN,  funny now that the 2005 USC could beat every other national champion in the past 10 years, but they couldnt win their own.  I hate to say this, but so glad Texas won.

I have to agree with the rest of you re: Jackson, Fouts, Curry, etc.  It was quite clear that Jackson and Fouts were definitly biased with regards to wanting USC to win the game as eveidenced by many of their comments, although they were slightly better toward the end of the game.  As several of you have pointed out, Jackson has had a great run, but needs to retire (again, ;)), and I don't really like Fouts' style of commentary.  Bill Curry, on the other hand is a class guy, just like his fellow commentator mentioned at the end of the broadcast.  Overall, I think the ESPN crews are the best at doing these games (although admittedly, there are a couple or so of those commentators who can be either abnoxious and/or, shall we say, a bit irritating or arrogant at times.  But, they're overall better at the college game coverage basically because they only cover that.

While there are definitly too many bowl games, I thought that many of them (certainly a greater number this year) were very exciting, competitive, and excellent games to watch as a fan this year as compared to most years.

Am I correct in thinking that in the 2002 game, the commentary was decidedly pro-Miami until the end of the game?  I recall being a bit irritated by that game as well but can't be certain.

RC  You are correct.  Fouts buddy  kid was the TE Winslow.
He was definitely pro miami and even suggested they got ripped on some calls  that would have given miami the win.   OSU got little respect from him.  Probably still doesn't.   I wonder how he liked the LSU game this year?

Dan Foust is just mad he never got a superbowl ring.
And I agree with other comments that he seems to be very bias.

Ditto on the Jackson/Fouts debacle, I gotta agree there has to be some better announcers to handle a game of this magnitude! Yeah,  maybe they should try those guys that did the radio for the Stagg, I thot they done great anyways!

thanks on the hat note, i should eventually have a nice collection if i can keep my kids fromwearing them playing backyard MUC football ! I'm Bowled out as well, but agree this year seemed to have the best match ups in years for bowl competition. Not sure if anyone keeps stats on margin of victories for bowl games, but would have to think that this year was near the top.
