Olinemom:  You should take it as a compliment.  Obviously after 9 trips to Virginia the Mount coaches have grown to like the state.
Do I have a volunteer to grade my paers tonight?  Posting is more fun that grading!!

Ok I volunteer, but you should know:

a. I know nothing about French (except toast and fries)
b. I am a severe grader. You use several colors to be cutesy and you fail. Sloppiness gets extra credit.
c. Use Charles DeGaulle name and you have to write a 200 pg paper on why we hate France.
d. Mention "The Bachelor" in Paris show and you have to drop French and pick up Latin.

Do I qualify?

It sounds great to me as
     1) the papers are in English:  comparing and contrasting the musical Les Mis with the LIam Neeson film of Les Miserables:  3 pages or less X 26 students.
     2) of the 26 students I have 6 non-athletes, and th e rest are baseball (maybe 6) and football (maybe 12) and 2 that are already in Hawaii at the Hula Bowl being first responders for the East squad when the only people I know are playing and coaching on the West. :).
     3) quite a few of the students had never been to a professional theater before with a live orchestra.  I think they were blown away.
    4)  Then I took them some place where they could possibly have ordered snails or brains, or tripe (they didn't--the last 2 I do not allow under any circumstances--why waste good money for the shock value?)
     5)  so the papers may even talk about the food in the restaurant.  Who knows because I haven't looked at them yet.  Do I lack courage?  Frankly, yes!

I will say that they have done very well on their literature analyses.  We almost had a knock down drag out fight the other day on where the climax of a story was.  One of my Oliners came up and asked me where I thought it was.  I explained for the umpteenth time that they had to come to a consensus (sp) as a group without resorting to fisticuffs.  A few other things I heard was the WR telling the DB to find that metaphor they had been talking about earlier during the break--can you believe that?  The free safety in another group was telling one of the pitching rotation why what he had found was not a simile, but it was personification.  I actually was in 7th heaven and thought what a great day to finish the course--while we were still ahead.  But they were on target and arguing about points that they had to have on their literary analysis sheet.  I was delighted.  The paper, of course, does not have this comfortable format, but hopefully they will think along the same lines.
Thanks for the offer.  That has lifted my spirits.  The grades are due Tuesday, the same day that spring semester begins and that our syllabi and schedules of assignments are due in the dean's office. ;D ;D ;D.  Isn't life a piece of cake?

Stories have climaxes?  Guess I should read more and skip the movies.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Havent been on in a long time....Congrats to Mt. Union on getting another ring.  Congrats to Capital for proving why the OAC is the best D3 conference in the nation.

Wanted to know if any of the coaches on here knew of any clinics coming up in the future.  It is that time of year when they start and I would like information on any type (offense, defense, speical teams).  Also if any of you have playsbooks that would also be helpful as well.

How many days until high school and college football start again??

I really feel bad about posting this before you but I don't even know if you use the internet anymore.  I would hate to have to rely on Doeder for this kind of information.

JCU alum Josh McDaniels gets O-Coordinator job for Pats

He's going to be the youngest coordinator in the league at 29.  Not bad at all.

For what it is worth--I talked to Nick today at lunch today--he said that although he interviewed for the job at Shenandoah, he did not get it, and that he was going to be sticking around here. :D

Congrats to Josh McDaniels!

Great to see him get the position and I've been telling everyone out here in Washington all about him for the last 4 years.  They didn't believe me when I said he would be an O-coordinator soon.  Very happy for Josh and his family.

Not looking to put the cart before the horse but McDaniels is in a great position to say the least.  At 29, he has worked his way up the coaching ranks under a coach (Belicheck) that seems to be the human embodiement of Miami University ("the cradle of coaches", in case my attempt at being witty and interesting is a bust).  I just spent the last week listening to NY sports radio talk about new Jets head coach Mangini and the rise in his stock as a result of his development under Belicheck.  Mangini's career path sounds a lot like Mangini's.  Of course, McDaniels has some work to do but he will most certainly be on many teams' radars as the next "young football coach to build a franchise around".  I would not be surprised, given the guy he's under, the QB he has to work with and the success that he has already been able to establish, if Josh McDaniels ends up being an NFL head coach within the next 5-7 years.  He's in the right spot to do it.  Heck, the way things have been going, he might need to just work as the OC in New England for one year and he'll get an offer. ;)

On another note regarding NY sports radio, I have also been getting a little annoyed listening to everyone there discount Carolina's chances of beating the Seahawks because of the injury to DeShaun Foster.  Of course, I am probably the only guy in the NY listening audience that knows Jamal Robertson is the guy behind Goings but still, these guys act like Carolina has no shot whatsoever.  Not even looking at Jamal as the fan and follower that I am, Goings is a very underrated back by himself.  He filled in real well last season when Davis and Foster were hurt.  He played so well in fact that Jamal and Rod Smart couldn't even get reps.  I don't expect these guys to give Jamal much credit either.  I know they shouldn't because he is afterall a "nobody" to them.  But it angers me that they don't even know he's 2 on the depth chart.  They'd rather talk about "He Hate Me" because he is afterall "He Hate Me".  Worse yet they suggest that Steve Smith should line up at HB and KR along with returning punts and catching every ball thrown in the game.  There are other guys on that Panthers team.  I hope they get their chance to show what they can do.  Here's hoping that Goings, Drew Carter and Jamal all do something great this weekend.

:) ;) :D ;D :o :o :o :o ;D :D ;) :)  The  :o in the middle is where the climax of the story is.  You haven't lived until you hear a couple of Oliners and DBs argue about where the climax is, whos's got the better metaphor, etc.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  But maybe it was a mirage.  They may have slipped something into my water.  All I know is that they are going to ruin my reputation.  I don't have anything lower than a B- for Interterm.  People will think I'm going soft.  Oh well, I need to bake brownies for the double header basketball game tomorrow.

Cute, Kirasdad.  I don't bother with make-up.  When you're older than dirt, that stuff does not help!  But I can't imagine him not getting that job!  Are they nuts?  Now I'm really worried.  Where are the coaches from Texas?  Are any of them moving  here?  Yikes!!
