My day is better having read the above post.  Thanks stoonk.  Always a good read.

Take a look at the UWW tape vs. Linfield or Wesley and ask their coaches about
Derek Stanley's speed.  Also, Stanley was a 55 meter sprinter on the UWW indoor
track team this past winter.

I'm told Mount had a new QB, RB and E at practice yesterday and they didn't appear to be players seen on last years JV squad.  Anyone have any idea?

Maybe one is a transfer from IUP:

http://www.thepenn.org/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/04/07/44367fa21cce7

"IUP lost four starters on defense and must replace an all-conference offensive lineman who left school, but the most compelling position up for grabs is quarterback.

Sophomore Andrew Krewatch and senior Kevin Weidl are competing for the season-opening start Sept. 9 at Cheyney, a game that will mark the official beginning of the Tepper era.

Weidl did not play last season because he was serving a one-semester suspension from the university stemming from an off-campus fight in February 2004. Krewatch, as a true freshman, led IUP to a 5-5 mark this past season after winning the job over freshman Brad Dawson, who will transfer to California. Junior Danny Harris, who was also suspended for his participation in the '04 brawl, will transfer Division III Mount Union."

Thanks Pat.
Looks like Mount has the makings of a D3 boxing team!
A second chance may be what the kid needs.

Mount Union lowers its standards once again to admit some football talent... ;)

Sorry I had to say it before someone that doesn't have a clue makes the same comment (and means it).

11.27?was he wearing timberlands?is he injured?did he stumble out of the blocks?11.27,and he has elite oac speed, you can't be serious. He has to be faster than that!

He did a little better today in 40 degree temps. Ran third in a 10.66 while 2 other Mounties ran 10.65 and 10.27.

While I in no way want to make light of the passing of Coach Ron Schipper, the picture of him accepting the Stagg Bowl II trophy really is a "period piece." Please note the player with his plastic glasses held together with athletic tape immediately above the trophy. Ah those were the days. ::) (Glad I'm not the only loser to have ever done that)

Did I mention that the presenter is Ed Sherman the legendary Muskingum College coach ?  Incidentally, he is still alive and is 90'ish. :)

Whatever happended to giving a guy a second chance.  We seem anymore so quick to point our fingers and convict people for the rest of their lives.  I do not know the details of this young man's story.  Maybe he had been trouble all along or maybe this is the first incident.  Young people (as well as us oldtimers) screw up.  I wonder how many of have not made a mistake in life that we regret.  A test of character is what we do with what we learn from the lesson.

I just want to clarify for the record that I passed no judgement on him. I merely presented the newspaper piece.

Sounds as though he could benefit from a couple of years with LK ::)

Pierre Garcon has qualified provisionally for the NCAA's with a 100 Meter time of 10.66 secs.

Join us on the D3 track board to follow his season.

10.66,now were talking. And considering the average db in the oac runs 11.8 and up,thats not fair.Someone might have to follow that boy around with a fire extinguisher next year!

frank uible

When one talks about DBs, it is not so much sprinting speed as it is quickness of hip turn - although there is a considerable positive correlation between the two.
