I still think your comment was pretty presumptuous seventies.

Just imagine the poor seventh and eigth graders that have to deal with my "sense of humor."
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Mighty impressive 06 pre-season preview on MU's website. Can any OAC team match-up with the Raiders?

Wait a week and check out http://www.mtunionfootball.com/ for a real preview  ;D

-45 Karma KennethK???  You make seventies look like a saint.  Who have you been ticking off?

Who puts out a season preview in June anyways?  All that's going to do is make you Raider faithful even more upset you have to wait a couple more months for kickoff.  And besides we all know what it will read like:  Mount has great coaches, great players, lots of tradition and another title.  The only new line to this year's previews will be this one:

"For the first time since the Roosevelt administration (either Roosevelt works), the Raiders will be looking to avenge a conference loss in the OAC."
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

HScoach I suspect that is the one he means.  A select group got the link and have read it already.  It will be live on the site for everyone Monday and yes, if I do say so myself (because I didn't write most of it) it is fantastic preview.

Got into it pretty good last year about this time with the Linfield fans trying to gather information.  Had a fun time but the Karma took a major hit.  So anyway..now that MU has regained top dog status I was curious whether the raiders might have any serious challengers in the OAC.  I'm thinking long term, play-offs, home field, all that.  That Ohio Northern upset was a stunner..any possible upsets in 06?

Thanks for the hint Ric.  Nice write up.  I see Treavor Bruney is back this coming year.  I hadn't heard he was injured last year, just thought he decided to hang them up.  Good to see him back.  I hope he has as good a career as his older Bro' had!

I don't believe you passed on the opportunity to remind WHO beat the mighty Mount. :D

RC:  Don't worry my friend, ONU gets plenty of run in the 2006 preview.  Some might think too much.

In my opinion, all of us Raider faithful should be thanking your Bears for title #8.  Without that loss, MUC doesn't win the title last year.

I have the whole season ahead of me.  I need to keep my ammo and pick my spots.

The challengers in the OAC will be just as serious as they are in any year.  There have been title years where MUC fans say the best teams they played were regular season matchups in conference.  CAP and ONU will do their best once again, there will be a couple of other challengers I'm sure between JCU, OTT, BW and Marietta.

I am quite anxious to see what happens this year.  I obviously would love for a repeat but more than anything I hope the two schools can have a run of more closely played contests.  I just want good football.  I hope we all get it.  I will be curious to see, if ONU is down this year, how LK will play the game.  Do you keep your foot on the gas to make a point or do you put it on cruise control out of respect?  He hasn't exactly been in this position recently afterall.  I also happen to agree that #8 may have not come last year had the upset not occured.  The P-Bears got the assist.

Reality:  Thanks for your thoughts on the OAC.  I certainly did not mean any put-down on the other teams.  It just appears to me that the Raiders will be tougher than nails in 06.  Last year, Whitewater was the surprise team. D3 had them rated 21 pre-season.  Any chance Cap, ONU or one of the other OAC teams is this year's surprise?

reality check

MUC is always tough as nails.  It takes the perfect game to knock off the Raiders and it finally happened last season.  Of course, it just got them mad.  I don't think if CAP, ONU, or JCU would really be considered a surprise team if they have a great season.  Every year the second place team in the OAC tends to get respect nationally by both the coaches and media.  For that reason, I can't call any of those teams "surprises".

I know there's no Otterbein fans here to report it but big Matt D'Orazio, the pride of Elyria, OH, just scored the first touchdown in Arena Bowl XX.  Good to see him getting the job done in the AFL.

Check it out on NBC and support our OAC alums.

D'Orazio wound up being Offensive Player of the Game for Arena Bowl XX as the Chicago Rush won 69-61.

Since we're on the subject of the 2006 MUC preview, and for those that are interested, the following is stolen from Ric's site:

In two months, on August 12th, players will report to Mount Union College for preseason training camp as the Purple Raiders begin defense of their national championship by beginning preparation for the 2006 football season.

In anticipation of the upcoming season, we have added our 2006 Football Season Preview.  It is a very in-depth look at what you can expect to see from the Purple & White this season.  You can read it here:
http://www.mtunionfootball.com/2006season/06seasonpreview.htm

In addition, I've changed the right menu on this page to highlight some of the players you can expect to be leaders this season.
