I agree that Larry could care less about pre-season rankings and not to have that target on your back would be just fine. I think the change of pace if they aren't number 1 would be fun.

I couldn't resist coming back right away to be the #5555 response.

I think Capital will have the extra incentive in '06 simply because they came close in '05 but in the end lost twice to the Raiders.

ONU while equally motivated by their ex-Raider coach was the one to break the string and not driven as much to repeat. At least for another 95 games or so when the number might reach 99 straight conference wins again.?

And certainly Reg' has 70 bones to pick with the Raiders this year too. It's going to be fun.

I don't know where the fantasy of Mount not being picked number one started but there is definitely no doubt they'll be picked as favorites as OAC champs and I would put my money on them to be ranked #1 when the first D3football.com poll comes out. 

Mount will have as big a target on its back as ever.

ONU will be as motivated to win now as they ever were against Mount.  The difference is that Mount will also be stepping it's game up even higher than normal.  If anything ONU will come into this year's game wanting it even worse to prove it's possible to slay the beast more than once and because they've finally tasted victory over the Raiders.  The Bears will come in with just as much fire.  Mount will come into the game with more than last year.

OAC media day is tomorrow (wednesday)...you can simply take last year's standings and use that as the pre-season poll.

1) Mount Union
2) Capital
3) Ohio Northern
4) John Carroll
5) Otterbein
6) Marietta
7) Baldwin-Wallace
8) Muskingum
9) Wilmington
10) Heidelberg

Mount is no doubt #1...Capital took the Raiders to the wire twice, and has a few more key players back than Northern

I guess--if you look really close--that last one is a Warhawk--the uniform looks suspiciously like a Raider, so I assumed that it was one of us from earlier in the playoffs.  Especially since it looks, at first glance, like Kmic's jersey number.

Guess we have to share a little of the glory.
