How do you guys feel about blow outs?  I love to see a coach empty the bench personally. It saves the wear and tear on the starters and rewards the backups who deserve to be thrown a bone for a hard weeks work in practice. You dont have to run up the score and get a coach fired doing it necessarily though. I woulnt walk out on a game just because it was decided in the first quarter. You might miss an outstanding effort by some hungry second teamers. Plus you might keep some kids in your program that might transfer for lack of playing time.

Blowouts are nice to get teh youngsters some playing time, but best case is for the starters to play a series or 2 in the 3rd quarter to keep their focus thru half-time.

The reason Robinson is buried on depth chart is two-fold:
1.  Kmic is a much better RB.   In all facets of the position.
2.  Work ethic.

Justin Wray would have seen a lot of time last year if he wasn't injured.  Quality depth is a great thing to have at RB.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

On the positive side, the Wooster band was great.  I loved how the bagpipes piped the team down the hill at the start of the game.  They had a really good halftime show and they played really interesting music--Everything from Offenbach's "Can-Can" from the opera "Orpheus in the Underworld" (part of the halftime show) to "Back in Black" by AC/DC (in the stands)--overall quite an impressive range of music--also, as little side note their band/pipers has over 180 members--not bad for a school of about 1800.  How many DIII schools have bands that are bigger than their football teams?

Hurrah for the Wooster Marching Band!! On a recent trip to Cedar Point, en route home to Alfred, I made a pit stop at Wooster. Actually checked out their stadium and noticed all of the seating reserved for the band....WOW! It must have been impressive, especially with the pipers. Meanwhile, back in Alfred, while the Saxons were scrimmaging Brockport in the rain on the turf of Merrill FIeld, AUPepBand was holding a "Band Camp." Had a nice group of a dozen musicians...not bad for no music major at AU. But a far cry from 180 noise-making Scots!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

no question that the cap-mount game should be the d3 game of the regular season.  don't track mount (don't need to really since everyone knows about them) but this should be the best cap team on the field in a long time.

You truly think this year's Defense is better than last year's??  I am not so sure on that.  We truly will not know until October, that is when the truth will come out.  September is a warm-up until October.  They have Wilmington, at Heidelberg, then Marrietta.  Once October hits, they have to travel to JC, ONU, then come home vs. Otterbein, and last but not least, at MUC.  How scary is the schedule for Cap!!!

However, I am sold on Cap's Offense being better this year vs. last years.  Would loved to have seen Alexander on last years squad!!

Holy smokes.  Musky has entered the 20th century!

NEW CONCORD, OHIO, September 2, 2006 - Muskingum sophomore quarterback Andre Nash led the Muskies' spread attack offense tossing three touchdowns and rushing for two more en route to tying the school record for touchdowns in a game with five and leading Muskingum College to a dominating season-opening win over Bethany College on Saturday night, 45-20.......

What do they have to do to enter the 21st century? :)

Im just glad the Capital/Mount Union contest is in Alliance this year. With all the anticipation already we might have to leave THIS weekend to get a parking place near their stadium. The rivaly may have outgrown their newly remodeled stadium already. Nice problem to have though!  Maybe not if you live in the neighborhood surrounding the stadium though.

This line makes me chuckle:
"The Black & Magenta opened the second quarter with a nine-play..."

According to Wikipedia, magenta is a shade of Pink (scroll to the bottom):

The only reason the defense will be better is 2 of the starting DB's missed the second half of the season including the playoffs.

It would of been exciting to see both MUC and ONU come to Columbus this year, I just hope the wins on the road last year help prepare for this years schedule.

Why no mention of the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge on these boards?

section13raiderfan

Well Frank, that would be a highschool topic and although interesting and worthy of discussion it is not a D3 issue.
