You're right the Marietta-BW game was amazing.   The QB-Vrable for Etta set an all time record over 400 yards, and Banks set the career interception record and this was the first game in overtime in MC's history.  I'd say the defense deserves some credit on this one holding BW and Hedges to minimual yardage.  They played tough.  Amazing to watch the Vrable -Curry connection like they are the only two on the field.  Good luck to Etta this year they may surprise some people.

I hope Coach Tressel wasn't real happy with his team yesterday either.

Not having seen the boxscore and not so intrigued by any Cincinatti Bearcat football after their opening against Pitt I believe, assuming The Buckeyes won.  Was expecting Youngstown to knock off JoePA.

All in all if Oberlin is the last team from the state of Ohio to beat Ohio State then gravity must still hold.

Agree and especially your last re: Oberlin is hilarious - great levity!.  You get a +karma for that! ;D

Speaking of "blowouts" over the weekend (and a quick digression from DIII to DIAA if I may), how about that U of San Diego score in beating Yale?  Not a bad showing; Dayton almost knocked them and Columbia? off in the past, although they've been blown out by Yale as well.  Anyway, seems Coach H is improving that S.D. program.  A good one for the "small-er" guys. ;)

Nice comeback for the Pioneers after an ugly beginning...three early unforced fumbles and down 17-0. Vrable threw some great passes and looked good on the run.

Hard to pick a favorite play, but the pass and catch to Bokat in OT ranks up there.

Thought BW looked more athletic and faster than last year, especially on defense.

To clarify, Banks set the interception yardage record.  Coaches are doing a nice job of mixing him into the offense too.

Wow, Mount is an offensive machine.  And the defense that lost a lost to graduation, doesn't seem to be missing a beat.

Big games for the upcoming week... Marietta @ Otterbein and ONU @ JCU

How can you watch a team win 71 to 14 and walk away thinking they did not play well?  I don't know, but that's how it looked to me.

Having the opposing QB go 16 of 30 for 225 yards in the first HALF!  That's how.  LK had every right to be pissed with the way the defense was playing.  If they play that way against Capital, Pentello will torch them for 400+.

And I'm sure the completely nonexistant running game in the first half didn't help his mood either.

I wonder if Otterbein will get its mower fixed this week?

Linfield is the only team in the top 25 with no wins.  Now thats hard to believe.

Considering Rocky had all of 228 yards in three quarters against the Quackers, that would make Mount pretty awful. :P

Sorry, couldn't let that one slide by.

You're right Bokat has come up  LARGE  LARGE  LARGE  is a game each season so far - ie, last year vs Muskingham.  He makes some good grabs when he's needed!!!  North had some great grabs too.  Vrable is just amazing he makes it look like whoever he is throwing too is the only other guy most of the time.  Sounded wrong when I posted above - meant that he has a touch and can surely float that ball on the numbers.
Should be a good match up this weekend coming.

Did they let the grass grow a bit long to try to slow the game down?

Not the 600+ yards, but that Jorris had two tackles and Matt Kostelnik had one rushing attempt.  Are those the case of incorrect spotters?

MountFan08

Those two tackles more than likely belong to Daryl Ely and that rushing attempt should go to Danny Harris.  I guess that can happen when you have two guys wearing the same number.  Against Averett Mike Zimmerman had 3 carries for 30 yards.  Amazing considering he's the kicker!  ;D
The impossible CAN happen and eventually it WILL happen.

FYI, the Pick-Em's results and week 4 games have been posted.

Even though no one has mentioned it yet, and it was Heidelberg, it was good to hear JCU get an easy W this weekend.  Forcing five TO's while rolling up almost 500 yards of offense with great balance and receiver play (Joe Konrad 7 rec. 127 yds. 3 TD).  It's not beating Capital, but hopefully it'll give the Streaks some momentum heading into Saturday with the Bears.  I have a feeling ONU won't give up 26 unanswered points two years in a row.
