Bill McCabe - Expect a serious payback...it could get ugly for Da Bears!

And why, oh why is the topic of Mount moving up or even playing another division school brought up? Stop the madness!

Hi all,  I am afraid I am the bringer of terrible news.
Many of you know formerd3db (Todd) who frequently posts on this board and is a Hope Alum.
Todd and I are good friends.  He sent me an email today telling me that his Mother passed away yesterday, unexpectedly.  Please keep Todd and his family in your prayers.  He asks everybody to be thinking about him and his family as I am sure it has to be very difficult for them right now.
Times like this make football take a back seat in what matters most in life.

I saw this on the other site and thought the vets on this page would want to know this.  Our condolences former d3db

jdean thanks for the heads up.  I will pass on my condolences to formerd3db personally.

Is Ohio Northern as good as they were last year?

Offensively no.  Defensively it is possible this team is better than last year.  They did lose some major players like Midlam, Hostetler and the like but last year's team beat Mount Union without some key players as well in Jason Trusnik and Dustin Alexander.  Adding Steve Gunter to the mix can't be overlooked on the defensive side either.  I really think this team is as good if not better than the 2005 edition that beat Mount Union.

I would also contend that Mt. Union looks better than they did last year.  They are putting up unfathomable numbers offensively in the box scores.  The only thing about that is that Mt. Union put up equally ridiculous numbers against weak OAC teams last year.  So who knows?!?

So my expert opinion (cough cough) is that there's no telling what might happen.  If I was putting money on this game, I'd go with Mt. Union and I would guess it's a couple touchdown spread.  But my head told me the same thing last year.  Thankfully my heart and the 2005 Polar Bears outdid my head last year and I am hoping my head is wrong again this time around.

Same keys as last year...ONU needs success running the ball & 0 turnovers and Mount to have a few.

I wonder if this is the game Mount's first team will see the field in the fourth quarter.

p.s.  Just saw another key, any chance to keep Garcon & Kmic as quiet this year as last...not much, assume one was injured and one just working his way into the lineup.

I agree that a nine game schedule would be terrible, and playing anyone would be better than the bye.
Why do the OAC teams start then take a bye week before game two?

Regarding ONU
Obviously, as a Raider fan I want to win 'em all, however, I would rather see some competitive football win or lose.  The loss last year did not destroy us;  it did wake some very spoiled fans up, but the world did not end and we played the next week...
I look forward to a good game from ONU and MUC.  I hope they both give their best efforts and we will applaud the victor....

I love DIII football.....

The NCAA restricts the start of summer practice as so many days (21?) before the first game.  So by starting as soon as possible and then taking a bye week, the team has 1 more week of practice available that season.

In terms of the MUC/ONU game, I expect a serious playoff type atmosphere at Mount this Saturday.  There's no doubt that the loss last year was a surprise, but it was the best thing that could have happened as I don't think MUC wins title #8 without that loss.  It removed a ton of pressure from a young team and refocused the veterans.

One thing is for sure.  ONU is going to see MUC's best effort this time around.

It pains me to know I am going to miss this game in person.  I missed last year's ONU game as well.  Hopefully, my not being there won't put the voodoo hex on Mount.   :-\  The ten year old has his next to last PeeWee game at 1, so in a few weeks I will be in attendance for the remaining games.

I will, however, have the earphones on, so give me a good descriptive Ric (like you always do).   :)

I will NOT be there as the last two games I have seen in person have been losses (MHB in '04 Playoffs and ONU last year).   ;)

Hey all,
It has been a long while since I have been able to post. Been a VERY busy summer and fall. I got married and started a new teaching and coaching job in north-central Ohio. I wanted to weigh in on this game although I will not be able to attend.
I have been very impressed with the stats that I have seen from the Raiders both offensively and defensively. Northern has seemed to have been solid and improving every week. Hopefully they can put a full game together and keep the ball out of the hands of the Mount offense.
I think that a low scoring game is to Northern's advantage and seeing some cold rainey weather like last year would be GREAT.
I am really excited to see what Northern's D-Line can do this year. Maybe some pressure on the QB.
Good luck to both teams and Cap as this is going to be a tough stretch for the Top 3 in the OAC.

Sorry Moe, Weather Channel calling for 61 and SUNNY. 8)  We had last year's weather last Saturday. Should be a "fast track" for all.

We'll miss you S's-S. I know the feeling. I have high school obligations in Medina till around 11:30. I'll be moving low and hard down 224 just before gametime. Look twice before you cross Rockhill!!!!
