New OAC Poll on the thread.  Who wins MUC vs. ONU this weekend and by how much?

Only 14 points?  Come on, where's your sense of adventure?

I was being conservative on the two touchdown spread because I don't think LK will run it up on a former player.

For those who know how to setup a poll...I would be interested in seeing the following question covered:

Who will rush for more yards this weekend?

Meadows
or
Kmic

I really think this will be an excellent matchup featuring two of the premiere backs in the country.

In regards to the question who will rush for more yards this weekend, Meadows or Kmic, I think Kmic will.  2 reasons; first the D-Line for the "purple people from Alliance" is going to make it tough on a somewhat inexperienced P.Bear O-Line, and second, the Bears may very well find themselves in a position where they will be needing to score quickly and have to go the air, thus maybe limiting touches for Meadows.
Jorris is probably happy his favorite target from last year is gone from the Bear secondary!  Maybe Garcon will have a catch this year.

By the way, RC did you have any input on the new Bear logo?  Reminds me of some of your handiwork.

Thanks Kirasdad.

I feel the same way. I saw '99 Rowan & '03 St. Johns. So that takes care of all of them since '95!

I do have to admit I have mixed a few wins since so I hope that doesn't mix up the fix.

With both of us out of the mix The Raiders can't miss.

Put the farm on the Raiders. :o
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I'm going to say Meadows and here's why.  Meadows is the main weapon for ONU whereas Kmic is just one of the MUC weapons.  Therefore Meadows is going to see more touches than Kmic.   I would also expect ONU's defensive line to be one of the best MUC will see all year and Mount is already down 2 starting O-linemen.

Last year I thought home field advantage would be the key.
So much for that thinking.  This year I believe that QB execution will be the key.  Advantage Mt. union.

As much as we shouldn't be talking about this during MUC/ONU week I'm glad you asked.  I like the new logo for the simple fact that the old one was WAY outdated.  The old Polar Bear had a rat face and chicken feet.  I hated it.  The new logo looks very nice on t-shirts, window stickers and the media guide.  I liked it enough to fork over $40 dollars on an embroidered golf shirt so I must approve at some level.   I am not crazy about the logo on the helmets because I don't like the "ONU" with the bear head on the helmet.  I prefer the "N", the Bear logo or nothing at all but not a combination.  I was told though that the university administration insisted on branding across the board for all teams and they were basically told the helmet had to have this logo.

All in all it's a tremendous improvement.  Do I think I could have done something as nice or better?  Yeah, but that's my fault as an alum for not pitching my designs sooner.  I just see a couple small things I would love to have input on tweaking.  Most wouldn't complain or notice though I'm sure.  I give it a solid B overall.

Now the university logo they brought out in about 2001 is a whole other story.  It's horrible for many. many reasons and I wish someone spoke to the graphic design professors/students before they chose it.

I don't know if Meadows ends up with more rushing yards this weekend but I think he may have the most total yards.  Meadows has been Quirk's second favorite receiver along with being the number one rusher.  The MUC defense may do a good job of stopping the run but he might be able to make some nice grabs out of the backfield instead.

If Meadows does beat Kmic on the ground, I think it means very good things for ONU.  If that happens, I can't be too upset.

No offense to all you CU fans who are defending the defense, but I don't care about numbers vs. marietta, wilmington, and heidelberg.  I care about how they play Mount.  The defensive numbers are great again this year, similar to last season, then Mount put up 42 and 34.  That is not great defense.  The talent on Cap's defense is ridiculous, no question there, I worry about the schemes.  If the starting middle linebacker was out like has been stated, even more reason to play nickel and dime, especially against a team looking to throw the ball practically every down.  The majority of their rushes, and there weren't many, came from the QB.  So instead of playing an inexperienced 2nd team linebacker, play an extra DB to help match up against 4 and 5 reciever sets.  It seems to me CU needs to quit playing the opponent and start playing the season.  What I mean is, when your talent is so superior that it is obvious you will win the game (ala...marietta, Heidelberg, Wilmington) do things to help prepare you for tougher games where talent alone will not win it and adjustments and coaching are just as important.  Otterbein last year is a perfect example.  Sickmeier goes down, CU up 14-2 with 8:00 to play.  Backup middle LB in, no nickel or dime defense even though it is obvious OTT has to pass, they march down the field twice to win the game.  I love Cap's defensive players, they are fast and hard hitting.  I would just like to see a more aggressive defense to take full advantage of the players skills and them the best chance to succeed.  CU will definitely need the D to be at its best this month and hopefully the "O" will stay aggressive as well.  Play to win, instead of playing not to lose. Just ask Marty Schottenheimer about that!!!  You recruit great talent for a reason, trust it and let it perform.

pretty bold statement from FF3 considering Capitals D-cordinator was voted assistant coach of the year at least 2 out of the the last 5 years... All Cap fans would like to see a shut out against Mount, but that is probably not going to happen...Last years game's were both great and at the same time depressing.... Cap is going to one day jump that hurddle.... Will it happen this year that will be decided on Oct 28th
On another note is the Cap v. Jc really going to be on ONN

I was in attendance last year and witnessed ONU outplaying MUC.  For me, the two things that stood out in that game were ONU winning the Turnover battle 4-0 and the Raiders poor 3rd Down Conversion Rate (just 2 for 11).  It certainly could happen again but I do believe that Mount is greatly improved, healthier and more hungry then they were a year ago.

I would also not be suprised to see Meadows out gain Kmic on Saturday.  I think talent wise these backs are very close but Mount appears to have more diversified options in their backfield and overall offense.  I'm thinking that Mount will probably spread the ball around a little more instead of a straight diet of Kmic all day.

If they can play basic defense and hold the opponent to 6 pts a game...why not?

I guess having one of the top 5 defenses in the county last year is not good enough for some people.

Lets not forget that 2 of the 4 starters in the secondary did not play in the playoff game vs Mount.  I don't know if it would have made a difference, but sure could have helped!!
