Is time for a change at JCU? NOt that I am a DeCarlo Fan,  but  is it that the OAC has gotten better sense the 90's or is JCU not getting the same type of athalete. I know DeCarlo was all his asistants and they did a lot of recruiting, Perella was an offensive guru and a great recruiter for flordia. Rouvalo(Spelling?) was known in every Chicago Catholic League School and ESCC school and did a great job of recruiting chicago. Deb's did a great job of coaching the receivers and orgainzing the program, check out Case now. Coach Storery was a God! He  got the most out of the players and was a great DC! I don't know what is going on at JCU but I see them losing more each year. How long can you be rebuilding. THe Decarlo staff left with playoff loaded teams. Now maybe I miss informed and not looking close enough at it, but maybe Scafe needs to shake up his staff a little bit or change his recruiting policy.

streak10--you're worried about how you spelled Rauvalo--but not worried about the many other mistakes in your post?--athalete, asistants, flordia, orgainizing.....

Sorry, but the teacher in me just had to comnent!  (that's satire folks!)

D3 Poster

Mount - Better than '05.  Expected the O to be improved with all the vets, but the d has exceeded expectations.

Cap - with only two starters back on O, the offense needed some time to gel.  Big test on Saturday with ONU.

ONU - lost a talented O-line, so expected the D to carry the team in the big games.  Have another big test with Cap.

BW - surprise team with the win at Auggie.  Favorable early OAC schedule and loss to Etta, so not sure if Jackets are gathering mo or ready to hit the wall.

Etta - about where expected.  Disappointing loss to Ott.  Scoring lots of points without running game and giving up too many points.

Wilma - nice turnaround in the last two games.  Unfortunately, the get Mount this week.  The following weeks will decide if they exceed expectations.

Ott - Need to regroup and the Berg may be what the doctor ordered.  No running game and loss of wr Lenhart seems to hurt.

JC - poor start with the loss to Woo and a tough early OAC schedule.  Look to use Cap performance to finish on the upswing.

Berg - like JC had the poor start with a loss to Oberlin and tough early OAC foes.  Maybe pull out a win in the next four weeks and stop the streak.

Muskies - good opener, but nothing since.  Need a confidence booster somehow.

I am not sure how the overall recruiting went but I think the Streaks got a gem in Rudy Kirbus from St. Ignatius. He was on several All Ohio teams and listed as a top 100 pick for seniors last year. If he came to JC they must have had a good story going forward. I would have liked to see him in Purple IMO.

Streak 10-
Almost every program will have some down time.  Let's not forget that the Streaks made a serious run at a 9-1 season last year and had they not folded against BW, they would've been 8-2 with both losses coming against playoff teams.  John Carroll will never be Mount Union.  They're going to have to do what everyone else in the OAC does, recruit as best as possible, load up, and make a run at the Raiders.  While this season may not be what many fans hope for, I can't stress enough that this is a pretty young team.  According to what I have heard from a few people at JCU this year's class is a good one.  Last week the team nearly knocked off a top 25 opponent!  They're still competitive, they may only go 5-5 this year, but the future looks bright.  Kirbus is a big get for Scafe and his staff.

1.  Did you make enough excuses for Capital...or do you have a few more in you?

2.  One of the reasons Rocky is getting "disrespected" (I don't think he is, but whatever) is because you keep trumpeting him as the greatest quarterback ever to play in the OAC.  Most people don't agree with you.  He's a great quarterback, yes.  However, as Ric showed when he ranked the QB's, there have been a lot of great quarterbacks in this conference (and his list is only since 2000!).  You made a claim, most of us disagree.  This is not about disrespecting Rocky, it's your opinion against our opinion.

All that said, Rudy Kirbus is the greatest quarterback in the history of the OAC.

Marty Assman, Capital's back-up has the greatest name in the OAC.  QB or otherwise.  Any other nominations for teh All-Name Team?

I meant to put this in the first post, but forgot to.  I couldn't overlook this:

QuoteHad he been at Mount, he would probably have 4 national title rings and maybe a Girlardi trophy or 2.

To say that you're assuming an awful lot is the understatement of the century (it's a short century).  Do you think that Mount Union just shows up on the field and the Stagg Bowl gets handed to them?  By merely putting Pentello in a more sucessful purple uniform suddenly they win 4 straight titles (which they've never done) and he might win 2 Gagliardi trophies!?  Give me a break.

That is fantastic stuff.

I liked MUC's press box.  I LOVED having a screen of stats that constantly updated.  No fumbling around with papers, and the stats were virtually up to the second.  Also (this is for you, RC) the food was plentiful.

One thing I would change would be the windows.  I liked big, wide windows with nothing blocking my view of the game.  Mount's windows are good sized, but I think JCU has the best view from the press box.

Good point on the VIEW from the John Carroll box, but their idea of one large room with a bunch of media in it makes for some interesting radio on the ACOUSTIC side.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

He's definitely better than who the current starter was. I forget the first quarterback, but he didn't play well when I saw him. When Kirbus palyed against B-W, he was on par with the defense and really played well. He played well against Capital too. I'm glad they're starting him. Look for JCU to finish the season pretty well-off.

LOL  It does not require any athletic skills what so ever.

You just have to be a good poster!

We're tied in the "K" category.

So just to be a sport and since I can't vote for my own team......

BAM a K for you.

Does anyone have the result from yesterday's Mount Union JV vs. Harmony Prep- Cincinnati JuCo contest?

Sorry Laz, The JVs lost to the Harmony team 26-28 despite returning the opening kickoff for a TD. Harmony did likewise on the following kickoff . Mount had a chance to win it at the end but the sun caused a dropped pass in the end zone by Mount. It was a good game otherwise. Harmony had some real skilled players. One reportedly was an Ohio State recruit that has to get some grades in order to get admitted. Mount had a pass intercepeted in Harmonys end of the field at the end to kill the win. On another note...just like the varsity team....penalties were rampant. Its hard to win when you keep shooting yourself in the foot with penalties all day. Keep your eyes on #39, he shows up big time when the game is do or die.

Thank you for the update. I was curious because Cincinnati Harmony has been tabbed a phenomenal team with as many as 20 D-1 players. In addition, looking at www.mtunionfootball.com, I could not see the last time Mount's JV team had lost a game.....going all the way back through 2000. Is it possible they had a MAJOR win streak snapped on Sunday?
