First off, I am not claiming any one as the greatest QB ever to play in the OAC, but I do think ranking Pentello 5th in the past 6 seasons is absurd.  I simply feel he is every bit as good as the top tier OAC QBs of the past and I think he does not get the credit he deserves.

As for the 4 titles, IMHO he was better than Bruney and is better than Jorris.  Since Jorris won and I think Pentello is better, I naturally think he would have won last year and since IMHO I felt he was better than Bruney, I obviously think they would have won the two previous seasons as well.  I watched the national championship game loss and I feel Mount's inability to throw the ball consistently cost them the title.  Bruney was a very good player, but made more important plays running than passing.  He was a good passer but, not as good as Pentello.  Same is true for the loss in the national semis (I think it was the semis).

As for the Girgarldi, if I feel he would have played that effectively at Mount and won the championships I think he would, then the personel awards would come with it.  Any QB for Mount is always a Girgarldi candidate b/c his wins, exposure, and numbers will be very very good.

By the way, aren't you a JCU grad.  How can you be all about Mount?  Do you also root for Ohio State and Michigan?  Just a little joke for fun!!!!!!

By the way, if I appeared to make excuses for CU, my mistake.  First off, give credit to JCU for having a great game plan (I thought I said that).  They have always seemed to give the CU offense fits.  They also controlled the clock and kept the CU O on the sidelines.  The JCU kids played hard and probably deserved to win.

Kirbus was very impressive and seems to have a very bright future.  The running game was effective and they did a nice job of converting on 3rd down.

My excuses, dropped passes, was more of an observation than an excuse.  As far as I am concerned, there is no excuse for dropped passes, especially ones that hit you in BOTH hands.  It is not an excuse, it is a fact that at least 4 drops stopped drives that were at mid-field or better and came on 3rd or 4th down, effectively stalling drives.  There is no guarantee CAP would have scored on those drives, but they would have been inside the red zone at least twice and in JCU territory the other two drives.  I am assuming that CU would have put points on the board in some if not all of those occasions.  That was all I was saying.  As far as the coaching decisions, that is not excuses, as we all know, coaching decisions are always second guessed and scructinized after the fact.  I apologize if I appeared to take away from JCU's effort.  They looked like a much better team than the 1-4 record would indicate.  IMHO!!!!!!!

I am a JCU grad.  I also have a lot of respect for what Mount Union has accomplished....except that 70-0 thing.  I'm still stinging.

You're right about the acoustics, except you have probably never seen the press box during an average game.  Mount always brings much more media ( at least two radio stations, often TV, more newspaper guys, etc.).  It isn't really noticeable when one radio outlet is at one end of the press box and the other outlet (if the opposing team has consistent radio coverage) at the other end of the press box.

i'd take Rock in D3 over any of the other QB's and i am sure Dabein22 would agree since i am sure he knows me somehow

I would have to agree with you 2minuteO, I truly believe Rocky is the greatest QB to ever play in the OAC.

How many OAC QB's have you watched?  I can think of at least four off the top of my head that I would put in front of him, and the fellas I'm thinking of only date back to the late 90's.

I spelled it correctly.  See my post at 1:47.  I believe you're trying to call out dabein.

good to see Blind_side and I are still on the same side protecting

One more thing about the Gunter vs. Garcon matchup...Garcon has the height advantage by a whopping 2"...so there!  ;D

Platooning qb's is not a good idea and I believe it hurt Mount in the 2003 Stagg Bowl.

Troph I have watched many OAC QB's in my time and to be honest I don't think there is much comparison.

Capital is just lucky that Rocky is about 2inches too short, or I'm confident to say he would have played DI and by this time in his career I would be watching him on sunday afternoons.

RC, or anyone else, know if Gunter is playing this week??

pretty bold statement there blind_side... I am glad cap has Rock, but he is not the whole team.. Mulkey is ver impressive in the backfield... He has decent rushing numbers, but he shows his skills off blocking.. he is a back that knows how to finish.. He is a power back that if he breaks the line of scrimmage he is more than likely not going to get caught...  Rock is putting up good numbers once again this year with a line that brought back 2 starters...   I am saying this, but i realize the game is played on the field...

Your hole is getting deeper.  If indeed you had seen "many OAC QB's" you wouldn't make that statement (especially not when you consider that there are a few OAC QB's who have gone to the NFL).  I also find it hard to believe that the greatest quarterback in OAC history has 0 conference titles, 1 playoff appearance, and 1 good game against Mount Union.

As for your argument that if he had been 2 inches taller he'd be playing D1...Julian Edelman of Kent State is listed 6'0", 1 inch shorter than Pentello.  Kent State is D1.  In case you need another, Chris Leak (you might have heard of him) is also listed at 6'0.

I'm done with this QB argument.

H.S. Coach....Stix outplayed the ONU defensive end, absolutly ate the vaunted ONU o-line,and settled once and for all who is the best DE in the OAC.

Wow, I've called an idiot for making far more intelligent and factually accurate statements than that :P
