All I want to know is how on earth does 2minuteO get a Karma boost when he bashes Mount Union?!?! heck if thats all it takes my Karma could be through the roof!

Everyone travel safe to the games this weekend!

Ric

That's big of you 2minute0, you hate an institution because they win to much.  Problem is, they win with class and from time to time, lose with class.  If you can't beat'em, hate'em.

I just spent the last half hour on the phone with my good friends at Direct TV verifying that I will be watching ONU and CAP square off on Saturday.  Arizona just got a little better.

As you can imagine the wife is thrilled.

Reality Check - Great to hear you will be able to see the game, and be watching it in the nice warm weather of AZ!

Ric

Perhaps it can be explained as a Hate/semi semi semi respect relationship that many hold for Mount Union including myself.

Yes a few of the players are real class acts and I truly have respect for many of them, most of them are tremendous athletes – but that doesn't carry a whole lot since there are many tremendous athletes on the Michigan University's football team and I hate them passionately.

I use to respect the organization for the winning streak but once ONU took care of that my respect slipped even more.

Mt. Union Fans - Completely opposite, Worse fans EVER- not class acts what-so-ever and can probably receive a number one vote in yet another poll - the dirtiest most disrespectful drunken fan base of the OAC.

... Wait a minute - what was I thinking there is nothing but hate for Mt. Union coming from this guy

cufan

boy I can't wait to hear Mt fans response, you better duck blind side!!!

Since you've only been part of the D3 discussion board long enough to make 11 posts in your lifetime...I'm doubting your years of experience interacting with all the fans from the Ohio Athletic Conference.  You have probably not visited every OAC school as a fan and I would imagine there is a bias to your comment as you're probably a fan of one of the OAC teams.   Making generalizations shows your inabilty to think analytically and therefore renders your conclusions invalid.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I  have visited every single school in the OAC multiple times and - Yes I have experienced the Fans - So Yes I can make the generalization that I made about Mounts fans and I know there are a lot of people who believe the same that I do, whether or not they hang their heads out to dry and say so is up to them

Because of my 11 post on d3football.com you assume that I am a newbie to OAC football? Seriously - believe it or not there is just a small small portion of people who post on this forum then who read it first off. Secondly there are so many people who have been following OAC much longer than I have and you know what - they haven't even been to d3football.com. But because of you train of thought  you would shoot down their credibility because they have 11 post.

Yes I am partial to Capital University's football program, but I don't say anything bad about any other schools in our conference other than Mount so your point about being partial to a school is very irrelevant.

With 11 posts and -11 karma it's a little late for him to duck!

2minuteO:
Since you brought it up, I would just ask you this question.  Why do you not like Brady?  When he was at Michigan, the guy faced a tremendous amount of adversity in that Carr kept trying to bury him on the roster and not have him as starting QB.  Brady overcame all that and proved him wrong, not only in college, but also in the NFL as we all have seen.  Moreover, while I obviously don't personally know him, I haven't heard people (at least out in this region) say negative things about him, and that he is a personal guy and donates to charities.  If that is true, it would be difficult to understand why anyone (you) would dislike him, regardless if he is on "not your favorite team".  Latter is strange thinking in my book and has nothing to do with competiveness, etc.  Just MO. ;D

Every team in every sport has idiot fans.  Some are louder and more proud of being idiots.  Winning brings out more fans period, of all kinds. Anyone that thinks that isn't true doesn't have a clue.

I once sat at Mount Union Stadium near the top row just to the north of the old pressbox.  Back before every seat was reserved and I found a home in the pressbox.  We are probably talking '96 or '97.  I'm not going to name the school because it could have been any but I will say it was a conference team and they weren't very good.

I sat in front of a mother of a player on the visiting team. It was late in the third quarter and Mount had a big lead and Ryan Gorius went around the end for about 20 yards down the visiting (near) sidelines. As he was turning the corner, this mother of a player on the field yelled, "Break his leg!"

So I ask you, who is the bigger idiot? This 40-something mother of a player or a 20-year old college kid? Do I blame the school because this mother is an idiot? I'm not even sure which school although I think I do.  But I remember the number of the player whose picture was on the button on this women's sweater.

Regarding people not liking Mount, I respect what they have done and are doing, but it is hard not to hate someone that has been kicking the crap out of you for 20yrs.

section13raiderfan

I find it remarkable that some people pay that much attention to the Raider fans. Personally I find it hard to believe, because for the most part, Mounts fan base is older and not very animated . The vocal and demonstrative ones are very much the minority. I can see how an opponents fans might be real sensitive to any display of enthusiasm when they are behind by a large margin and the game is far from over. Watch a replay once and you will see the fans sitting and smiling and clapping politely. They hardly even ever stand. Some gloat openly, i conceed that. But is it any different in any stadium where the team has a winning tradition? Mounts fans by and large are anything but rabid. Some yes, but not all that many.
