Couple of notes before I retire for the evening:

First of all, this years WRMU team is the second best since 99', seeing as I was on the call in 99' (haha, just kidding, those guys are doing a great job, but I thought me and the guys who I broadcasted with were pretty tough too, no I am not biased, okay, a little)

Second, when it comes to subpar fans, in 98, BW fan not only ripped our (MUC) flag, but also punched our cheerleader advisor in the face, and last week at BW, tons of Muck Fount shirts.  But then again, two years ago our student body had shirts showing the BW cheerleaders orally pleasuring Mount players (i still cannot believe they got away with that one).

Okay, as for the officials, we in the MUC community have come to accept we will never get help from the zebras.  Being a coach myself, I make it a point never to ever look at missed calls as excuses for anything.  But, that crew Saturday should be embarrased, and I truly hope someone sends that tape to the OAC offices for review, as someone said (I believe the guy in the goofy purple hair we all know), those guys were not fit to officiate Junior High games.

Finally, as for the game Saturday, like most Mount fans, I have religiously watched the Raiders now going on almost 15 years (from middle school to now), I have seen at least 60-70 games live.  In all of those games, I have never seen a team as beat up as Capital was.  This was the most physically dominating performance I can ever remember Mount having against a ranked team.

As I exited Mount Union Stadium Saturday, a Capital coach came over to whom I believe was his wife and said, "I am sorry you had to watch that."
An opportune Mount fan yelled, "We're not!"

If there was any question if Mount could be beat after this game, I think it is answered, the only team that beats the Raiders this year is the Raiders.  This years version of the Purple Machine is scary good...

when is the playoff bracket revealed?  is it Nov 12th, the day right after teh final games?  Is it gonna be broadcast on TV?

Usually the playoff selections are televised on EPSN or ESPN2 the sunday following the end of the season and PAt here at D3football.com co-hosts the selections with an ESPN reporter, since ESPN doesnt give much PT to Div3 itself and realize Pat knows what he's talking about. Check your local listings.

reality check

And since Pat is now living in Connecticut, he's a hop, skip and a jump from Bristol.  I was thinking the live selection show was on ESPNews last year but I may be wrong.  And now that they have ESPNU who knows?!?  Pat, I know you're around.  Is there an itinerary yet?

WOW, Cap only drops 1 spot in the Top 25 after the humiliating loss to MUC!!  I was just hoping to stay within the top 10...can Cap fans say, "THANK YOU"!!

No. 4 might've lost more ground if No. 6 and No. 7 hadn't also lost. Lucky timing.

Be careful what you ask for...Rocky is all Cap has, and that is not enough.  The best QB in the OAC is not enough to stop MUC, you need a little defense.  Their defense showed yesterday what I thought would happen.  Run, run, run...for crying out loud MUC had 2 pass attempts the entire 2nd half.  Wonder if Cap thought about stacking the box, or making any adjustments to stop the run??  Kmic showed me why he is the best back in the OAC, and possibly D3!  This game was a game of few posessions, and no TO's...the only way to beat MUC, is to hope they turn the ball over.  However, with that being said, Kmic has 1 fumble & Jorris has 2 int's, so that is probably not going to happen.  Good luck MUC for your run at the Stagg.  I will being praying for a W against BW, to hope for another playoff run...

A class response from Crusader 26 as always. I do appreciate your level headed responses and input on this board.

The BW/CAP game is a playoff game with the winner (IMHO) advancing to the playoffs.

Collins was right this game was lost in the trenches and Cap has some serious issues to deal with. Should they qualify for the playoffs, you must be able to run the ball and stop the run. This has to be addressed as the weather generally get worse as the post season continues.

The MUC defense is outstanding and to think that coming into this year, I was a little concerned about the size of our defensive line at the DT position. :o

Finally, CU parent, I will apologize as well for the behavior of "some" of our fans. I assure you that is not a true representation of raider fans in general.

My observations from Sat's game.

Great players excell in big games, Stickley does that.

Rocky played his A$$ off and had very good numbers considering the time he had and the weather.

Mt is better than last year Capital is not.  If Cap can win out they will make a run in the playoffs.

Lets not get down on Caps Oline, they have given Rocky great protection all year MUC is just a different beast up front.

Cap needs to get healthy and take care of business the next two weeks.

first off i would like to address the fan issues... Number one those types of shirts though they may be rude are funny... sorry as a former player I loved fans getting into the games... The fans that are a-holes saying rude and obnoxious comments probably do not know squat about the game and if they do then they should keep that to themselves...

I have all the faith that Cap will rebound this week and gain some confidence going into the final week with the showdown against BW..

Good Luck to Mount finising the season strong (although they are my Michigan of D3 I enjoy watching OAC teams do well in the playoffs)

Not to look past Muskingum, but it is hard to b/c it is Muskingum, the biggest difference maker against BW will be the same as the MUC game.  Can Cap withstand BW's Defensive Pressure & will Cap be able to stop BW's run offense.  I am not a coach, and do not claim to be one, but going into a big game, I think you have to be able to stop the run & also be able to run the ball with some success.  Cap lacked that on Saturday, and BW's defense, from what I have seen against JC & ONU is the 2nd best in the OAC...so what will prevail in next Sat's game will be the biggest question??

cufan, i like that quote "great players excell in big games."  i dont think anyone could have put it any better.  rocky, kmic and stickley all came to play. rocky brought his game with him the last two times he had played mount. you can fault him for anything the happened on sat. he played well considering the weather, the lack of a running game, and the lack of time his oline gave him. those will need to be sured up  if they want to make a serious run through the playoffs. stickley played lights out on sat. he just seemed to be unstopable. i liked the way the coaches used him in coverage as well. i think it really threw off rocky alittle. stickley is just one of those players you can always count on to play well, and to make a difference in a big game. his preformance on sat, and the last couple weeks should put his name in the running for the defensive lineman of the year award in the OAC. i definatly think that he deserves the award. what more can be said about kmic...he is a special player. like stickley, he seems to get stronger as the season gets longer. OAC player of the year!

Great players excell in big games....

+ karma for you.  Couldn't have said it better myself.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

in my opinion, trusnik and stickley seem to be the premier DEs in the OAC. both players play the game at a high level, but also play the game very differently. which one of the two would you want on your team?

My observations from Sat's game.

I agree.  I thought Capital seemed more balanced offensively and defensively last season.

Additionally, I want to add that I thought Pentello played with a lot of confidence, determinaton and a great deal of heart.

That being said...it takes more than talent to being "the greatest QB in OAC history" as one poster said last week.  You also need to be able to make smart decisions.  There are numerous examples but I will throw out an easy one...Mount had scored on the opening drive of the game and Capital knew that they needed to answer with at least a FG on their first posession.  The very 1st play for CAP...Rocky rolls right...everyone was covered and so he steps out of bounds for a five yard loss...setting up 2nd and 15 versus Mount.  No disrepect but this is not Heidelberg that you're playing.  There's no excuse for taking a sack in that situation when he could have easily thrown it into the sideline.  Rocky may be the most physically gifted QB in D3...I don't know... but Jorris seemed in complete control of the game and made every play in front of him.

It is hard to find receivers when you are constantly haveing to avoid quick guys in black jerseys...When Rocky had time, he got it done.  I am surprised there were no int's because the pressure was incredible on him...I also was very impressed of Rocky getting off the deck and returning without missing a play after he got hammered...next play TD pass..WOW

Lack of a running game hurt Cap as much as anything...Was this the "D" or has Cap had problems earlier?

I don't see any big difference if Cap meets MUC in the playoffs.  THe Cap defense just doesn't seem to match up...Abdullah killed us last year, and I didn't see him much, Saturday...Hausler seemed to be off his game a bit, He has been big against Mount... Neidzweicki is a great receiver, and Alexander is quick...

Mount is winning with 'SPEED'....they are all faster or as fast as anyone at their position in the OAC...

I think Cap will beat BW in a low scoring game..BW's D is really decent, but their offense is below average.  The frosh QB, however, is very good and  will be a difference maker in the future.....

As for the fans, winning brings out the worst in some, and it is a small percentage that acts like idiots...From my observation many MUC fans are spoiled by success and should  try to understand what it is like to be a parent of a player who is getting blasted...

Cap fans, please don't take it personally...We like to beat the best, too...and Rocky , Abdullah, Hausler and Neidzweicki fit that category...

And, your basis of Jorris being in complete control of the game is b/c...???  He had 12 total pass attempts, 2 in the entire 2nd half.  I do not want to take anything away from Jorris, but you may want to re-state that to read MUC's O-Line & Kmic seemed in complete control of the game...I think I could of played QB for MUC on Saturday.  That's kudos for MUC's O-Line!!

The most unfortunate part about Saturday was, Alexander pulled his hammy during pre-game, so his status is questionable from this point on out...that will hurt not being able to stretch the field, as Niedzwiecki has not been very accurate.  Maybe this game gave him the confidence for the next 2 games, b/c he will be needed, and he is too good not to!!
