If Cap makes the playoffs, I would also like to see them play at MSJ.  It would be quick trip up from Lexington for me to see my Crusaders.

However, I would think that Cap is a puzzler for the selection committee.  I don't know if Cap might not get shipped out to another, presumably weaker, region.  If they win out and finish 9-1, one can reasonably expect that they won't fall any lower than 5th (their current national ranking), and a win at BW would maybe boost their regional ranking up a notch to 3rd.  JCU went to the east bracket a few years ago as the OAC runner up and third in the regional rankings and won that bracket, so there is a precedent.  I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see Capital, even at 9-1, as a three or four seed ahead of some conference champs, either in our region (North) or in the south, where the number two team (Trinity) currently also has one loss.

If BW beats Cap and gets in, I would take a guess as about a 6 seed in the North region.  A two loss team doesn't get sent to another region, just ask Cap last year.  I also don't think, if BW beats Cap, that Cap gets in.  It would be just like last year, only Cap would play the role of ONU.  The reason I don't think that Cap gets in is because of Carnegie Mellon, who will most likely take a pool B slot, thus reducing the number of pool C slots. Capital would then be the odd man out.

These are just my thoughts.  I am no playoff expert, so maybe someone with more knowledge can help me out with how QOW index, travel, etc. would work into the "equation."

I also agree with HS coach that MSJ would probably be the 2 seed and that MUC will probably see the NCAC or CCIW champ, but who in the world might that be?  Both of those leagues are a mess, with tiebreaker scenarios galore out there on the table with only two weeks to play.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

hey,

has anyone noticed on the main d3 home page that muc does not get many articles about the team?  what is up with that?. seems like whitewater is always  being mentioned.

okay back to being serious....  There has been much talk about Trusnik and Stickley this past week, but nothing about Bucci from Capital.. I know Trusnik and Stickley are popular names, but Bucci is a first starter and has 8.5 sacks second in the OAC and is going to be facing the Muskies which run a spread this week... If he takes over the sack lead does that put him up with the other two... He also recorded a sack last week against Mount

MUC will get their time during playoffs.  D3Football.com covers over 200+ DIII Football teams and not everyone wants to read about the Raiders all the time.  See www.mtunionfootball.com for All Raiders All the Time news.  :)

Good Post JK.  I always like hearing what you have to say since you grew up near Alliance and then went to Capital.  Good perspective from both sides.

kirasdad,

The fact that I grew up near Alliance and then went to Capital in the mid-90's should have you questioning my intelligence and/or sanity, not using that fact to lend credibility to my posts! :)

Especially since I did have to opportunity to stay home and play at Mount or go up North to BW.

2minuteO - Sorry, but it is often hard to be serious when your spending your day with a bunch of 14 year olds ;) This board is my "contact" with the outside world

hey guys just to let u know also that o-linemen can use hands now and not just forearms... just trying to keep everyone up to date...  ;D

Now, this post has provided me with some great insight.  I just realized a big difference between the game today and in ancient times. (You know, the 60's and 70's.)  In ancient times they actually had to know how to block!  ;)

We saw Whitewater play last week. Seems like we should write about that, no? :)

I haven't heard much from the johnnie supporters .  I see they are undefeated but not much noise from them.  They must have a good team this year but not a great one?  I guess time will tell.  We do hear alot about WWW and some of the southwestern teams and that is good.  Maybe D3 has written about St. Johns this year and I missed it. I always look forward to hearing from the boys in Minn.

OK guys, we all admit that not all canidates for POY play the same amount in a game. So lets add up the minutes played by each and see who was most productive for the time that they saw the field. This way you have a more equal means of judging each player relative to each other. It may not be totally fair either, but its more fair than just going by totals for the season. Thats the laziest way to decide anyway, since it takes less thought that way. Anybody else have any more ideas to help the voters keep it fair? We wouldnt want to have any false heros now, would we?

Are you counting Emory and Henry as 2 teams there Kirasdad?
I will add BW to the guess.

I'm encouraged by your research showing the cupboard will not be bare in Alliance next season.  I'm also excited by the possibility of having Cameron Rose back in '07.  He showed up quite a bit on film prior to the injury and I can only imagine the impact he would have added to the defense this season.
