Who's Ralph Turner?  He is head of the selection committee?

No, but a very knowledgable poster with a good track record on predictions.

Despite their high poll standing, LaCrosse is highly unlikely to be in the playoffs - poor scheduling decisions!  And Ralph Turner is now predicting a North team will go West, not the other way round.

Mr. Ypsi,
Curious, since you criticize LaX's scheduling decisions in making your opinion regarding the playoffs, if they don't make the cut, how would you attempt to solve this problem in the future?  They didn't schedule a D1-AA & a NAIA school in CA just because they wanted to.  Are you aware of the scheduling decisions they have to make since none of the nearby D3 schools in Minn, Iowa, Illinois, or WI are willing to schedule them for NC games?

"Poor scheduling decisions" may have been bad wording; I have no knowledge concerning their choices.  The win over SDSC was certainly a plus for their poll ranking (and a coup for all of d3, thank you! :)), but the game against Azuza almost certainly could have been replaced by a game against a decent MIAC, CCIW, or IIAC opponent.  I find it hard to believe that EVERYONE is ducking LAX!

The fundamental point was, whether or not it was their choice, LAX's schedule may have done them in.

EDIT: Just noticed which board this debate is occurring on - sorry OAC!

Well you should keep looking, because you'll find out that Lax has played just nine games in most recent years; in one year they had to play a conference team twice just to get a game; and you won't find any MIAC, MWC or IIAC teams on the schedule.

The final Pick-Em's results have been posted.  Congrats to SMEDINDY for winning the 2006 OAC Regular Season Pick-Em Championship with a 61 of 86 score.  Second place went to CHESS4ME. Third place to RUNYR.

For those interested in participating in our usual Playoff Pick-Em, the Round 1 games and spreads will be posted later tonight or early Monday morning.  And just like last year, the Playoff Pick-Em's is a new contest where each successive round's games are worth more points.   Round 1 = 1 pt, Round 2 = 2 pts, Round 3 = 3 pts, etc......

Capital number 2 in the north region.  I guess Rocky will get one more shot at climbing the Mount.    What regions will be joined this year when there are just 4 teams left?
Last year it was north-east    west-south

Like Ric, I also left the Marietta completely unimpressed with Vrable.  Terrible decision making, below average arm strength, and average accuracy.  His passing numbers are solely based on throwing the ball on every down.  His one positive attribute is his mobility to avoid a sack, but his decisions on the run are terrible.

Overall in 2006, based only on their play versus MUC, I'd put Vrable on equal terms with the freshman QB from Wilmington (can't remember his name).  And well behind the youngsters at JCU and BW.

Hopefully Capital wins enough games to get back to Mount.  I really want Rocky to be the only QB in OAC history to lose to MUC 6 times! ;D

If Pat's projected region is accurate, I see no one below Cap they should have any problems with.  There all are good teams  so play off mode of operations is now under way.   Mt. is hard to beat when they're in playoff mode.   How do I know this, they have the rings to remind me.

Yeah Vrable's terrible, and yet Marietta scored the most points all year on Mount Union.

Not that i think Marietta was at all competitive from looking at the stats. By the numbers Mount Union blew them out horrible and Capital didn't; yet Capital's margin of victory was greater. Marietta was pretty competitive with everyone else in the conference.

Ric

Spence I don't think anyone said Vrable was terrible.  He was very mobile and a leader.  But for a senior he made bad decisions and didn't know when to give up on a play.  He had two picks and could have easily had more.

Don't compare what Capital did and what Marietta did. Against Capital Mount Union played its first team much longer and never got to some third guys.  Yesterday a lot of starters were done at halftime and the rest were done midway through the third quarter.  There were guys getting their first carry of the year yesterday.  Please don't put any more into the late Marietta TD on a broken play during junk time against third team guys than it was.

I just don't know why when your backup QB is a freshman and he is 0-3 passing on the year you would not get him some PT in a game like that? Had me scratching my head.

Sitting here waiting for the OHSAA playoff announcements and Pat's "pretty" face on TV. Can't take the excitment

Ric, hscoach said the only thing that was any good about Vrable was his running ability. So my point is Vrable's so bad why didn't Pentello or Petruziello put up 17 on Mount when Vrable did?

And I wouldn't take out my senior QB in his last game.

I think that Marietta, although it may have a way to go, is the most improved team in the OAC.  It was not that long ago they were the doormat for everybody.  They have played some storng games this year.

D3 Poster

I guess it's a good thing that the coaches pick all-oac and not the d3 posters.

I'm sure Marietta fans are wondering what's so hot about Stickey... 1 assist.  The same amount as the kicker.  Kostelnik...was he on the field?  Jorris, his decisions rivaled Vrable's on Saturday.

I wouldn't be surprised with all four being All-OAC...they've all got track records for making plays.  Now if Wilma's freshman qb makes all-oac, I'll believe everything I read on here as gospel.

I hope Mount gets healthy...especially Kmic, lots of guys limping yesterday.

And did Cap find a running back yesterday?

Mulkey was not getting the job done as far as the running game goes for Cap. Charlie Smith did a great job yesterday.
