Kira & Jaxon's Dad

Mike Jorris has fallen out of the National D3 Passing Efficiency ratings because he hasn't averaged a minimum of 15 attempts per game.  He needs to attempt 21 passes this weekend to be considered again.

Micheli only has 99 attempts in 12 games so would need 81 attempts this weekend.  :)

They would rank #1 and #2 (Jorris with 180.22 and Micheli with 176.45) if they had enough attempts.

That victory chain website is pretty neat.  Found one that has Capital beating ND this season.

elee,

Capital probably would beat ND this year, because of the horrible ND secondary.

Gordy Lockbaum....made the cover of Sports Illustrated...what other DIII athletes (maybe Ken Anderson as a Bengal) can make that claim...

2minuteO

I really am not sure but Rocky Pentello should be on next months....

Purple Raider Assitant Coach Jeff Wojtowicz was.  Unfortunatly, it was when someone else was scoring a TD and he was the DB on the play.  I don't remember the year, but I remember the story.

As a team however Mount Union is #1 in the nation in Team Passing Efficiency at over 180.00!

But even combined.....the Mount QB's don't make up HALF of all that is Pentello!   ::)

Here's to perfect winning (and LOSING) streaks staying intact this Saturday!

d3db:
I don't all that much about the teams that Holy Cross had during the Lochbaum/Wiley years.  The only reason I know about Gordie is because Jeff Wiley, his quarterback, was a graduate from my high school.  I was in 4th grade when he took Celina to the state title game against Brooksville Bees.  I believe Tom Tupa was Brooksville's quarterback if I am not mistaken.  My dad coached that State team for Celina, so we followed Jeff's career as much as we could.

I read the posts on here as much as I can, don't usually say to much, but when I noticed your post I was very suprised that anybody would remember Gordie Lochbaum.  And yes, he was one heck of a player, and did play both db and wr.  I got to watch him live one game, although I was very young at the time.

Radierpa:  Holy Cross is Division I.
Although he was not on the cover, Capital University had a player in SI about thee years ago for his accomplishments in high school.  Funny thing is, he never played through his years and stop playing for Capital.  SI Jinx I guess.

Joe Dudek (along with Chuck Long and Bo Jackson) was on the cover of the 12/2/85 isuue of SI.

Found this on the "why Mount Union should leave DIII" section under general football--thought some of you would enjoy reading it.

I had a son play 4 years for LK. His only regret is he couldn't play 4 more. Here is what I know as FACT.

1. Mount doesn't waste time recruiting players without the right attitude.
2. Larry's first interview with you concerns personal goals, academics and what kind of persion you are. Football is barely mentioned.
3. You will recieve NO special grants, scholarships or stipends because you play football.
4. Steroids.....you are gone.
5. LK wants one thing, and one thing only, your best.
6. Mount follows the rules to a T. They are usually at the top. Everyone is gunning for them. Some anyway they can.
7. You will wait to play. (a few exceptions). He tells you that from the getgo. He doesn't make any promises other than you will learn football.
8. He will go off on tirades. He will usually be right. If he is not. He still is right.
9. He cares about his kids. When my son goes back, it is like he never left.
10. The complaints about Mount and LK come from teams who hardly ever or never have played Mount.
I could go on. I should go on. He is the best coach in college today. Oh and, DON'T PISS HIM OFF.

I got into a ton of trouble when I wrote about this on one of the main sections a couple of months ago. Some peers from other USA South schools didn't agree but anyway.......my son plays for Averett University and Mike Dunlevy (head coach) decided to challange the team this year by scheduling Mount Union and Wesley. His thought was "In order to be good you MUST play the best". There are those who think he was wrong and those of us that thought it to be a great idea. We will leave it at that.

Mount Union came to Danville Virginia and believe me, they were very impressive. Thier size alone compared to other DIII schools I have seen the last two years was uncompairable. Even their kickers looked like diesels. They were perfect in every sense of the word. They didn't make any mistakes that I saw, however occassionaly you would see the head coach go "Nuclear" one or two times on the the side lines and you figured someone missed something, somewhere. Their sportsmanship was 2nd to none. Those big guns would knock the hell out of an Averett player, and then bend down and help the Averett guy up and pat him on the head or tail. They were like watching poetry in motion.

Afterwards my son told me that even though they got their tails handed to them on a platter and the score was so lobsided, everyone on the Averett team had nothing but respect for Mount Union and they all including my son realized what it would take for Averett to get to the top.

I am glad Dunlevy scheduled them, I look forward to going to Alliance next year. I hope Averett has more talent to throw at them next year, but it will still be worth seeing them play. I hope they make it to the Stagg Bowl and look forward to watching them on TV.

Don't wish them out of DIII, let them teach the rest of DIII what winning, commitment, dedication, disipline, hard work, and desire is all about. Some of these D1 teams need to take lessons.

Oh well, now the Ferrum guys can go after my head again.

I'd give kickerdad some plus karma, but alas I am not yet so privileged to be handing out or smiting karma--maybe in another 300 or so posts.
