Whew...great defensive game by Cap, never thought they would contain that well...almost enough to prevent Mount from overcoming all those penalties.

Frankly, was not impressed with Rocky today.

Lack of a passing game by Mount was very strange.

Anyone figure out why Jorris didn't play much?...another strange happening or non-happening today.

purpled,
Do you think Mount was playing not to lose?

The cold had to affect the passing game.

Great defensive effort by CAP today in the red zone.  Their "bend don't break" defense did the job.  Mount's D played extremely well all day.

Mount will need to re-find their passing game if they want to move past next week.  Very disturbing, but a win is a win.

And no, Jorris wasn't hurt, nor was Garcon.  Very, very strange.

I am a fisher fan...I think that MUC will win this game....but if MUC does not play better than they did today and fisher continues to play the way they are...we could see a huge upset....

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

purpled,
Do you think Mount was playing not to lose?

Good question although I don't think I've ever seen Mount play not to lose. Obviously Mount's plan was to run the ball, i.e. like they did in the 1st quarter for a td, to keep RP off the field. I thought Mount ran way too much...you have to pass to loosen up the D.

Just got back from the game, WOW, it was awesome.
On the post game Coach K said that the plan was to run the ball and control the clock.
He wanted to get another runner into the game if the plays that worked so well were stopped by Cap.  Plus he said thay had some of their better players in the game who missed the last one.
Greg M. brings another very good runner into the option game from the shot-gun, as was shown today.
He is a mini version of Vince Young, defensive players all around him and he is making all kinds of yardage as he makes them miss.
Coach K expected this kind of game and wanted to run it all day long.
To the Cap. people, great year, I hope you have the players to replace the ones that are leaving, you are losing a ton.

The Stagg Bowl will have to try real hard to be as good as the MUC/CAP game today. Both defenses played their asses off. Im not sure which team was the best prepared for this one, but I cant argue with the results. I was frustrated today because I felt MUC played not to lose the game instead of to win it. Oh well, it worked out anyway. I cant believe MUC called a timeout just before CAPs last TD and THATS what they came up with for a defensive plan. I guess CAP was doing some coaching in the huddle as well!

In the postgame interview Rocky said he was disappointed to be remembered for going 0 for 6 in his career against MUC just like Larlam and Arth and Franzer and other OAC QBs. Not really bad company if you think about it. The guy put on his usual good show, it just is hard for great players to beat great teams. I wouldnt be surprised if CAP renames their team in honor of " THE ROCK" for his contributions to the program. Something in Rockys image, appropriate for a team from Columbus who are approaching elite status . How about THE GOLDEN BUCKEYES! I hear Rocky has one of those.

Oh, the penalties!  Come on guys...its the semis.....compose yourselves already! >:(

I can't rememeber seeing any team except perhaps Augustana become as one sided as Cap and Mount today. They were like cagey poker players who prefered to play the cards they were holding. Mount tried 9 whole passes for 28 yards, while Cap only attempted 8 running plays which when added to Rocky's scrambles netted -21 yards. Who was calling the offense for Mount today? I don't think it was Larry.
Granted today was  a showcase of small college football defense.

My sincere congratulations to Capital and their fans on a great game and great season. Much like the Linfield folks said that their game with Whitewater last year was better than the Stagg Bowl, you guys may have a right to make that claim when it's all over.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

70's & everybody,
Your eyewitness comments about the game are appreciated by those of us who couldn't be there.

Congrat to Cap on another fine season. Your defense was spectacular today. Cap was only one good play away.

Congrats to Rocky! Despite our jokes about his tenure, he was a class act and great qb and brought the Cap program to another level.

I was at the game and noticed Jorris was the last one out of the locker room at half time and never bothered to warm up for the 2nd half. He didn't play after his tackle on the 1st quarter int. I know Larry wanted to run the ball but Jorris never got loose. Sure no injury???

Hopefully the Raiders will address the penalty and lack of passing issues. We will neeed to be more balanced to win the title.

Once again, congrats to both teams!

Let me be the first to say: Mount Union hasn't seen a _______ like St. John Fisher's before.

Hmm, actually not as hard to type with my tongue in my cheek as I thought.
