Sorry the Capital defense didn't get a little more respect. They sure had mine after last week

Congrats to the 20 OAC'ers who made the North Region Team!  11 total first teamers, six second teamers and 3 third teamers is a great sign of the success and quality of the OAC.  (But we already knew that.)

And now for the argument starters:

North Region second team kicker goes to BW's Adam Wiburn but he didn't even crack Honorable Mention all-OAC.  Spitz and Zimmerman must be wondering if there were some hanging chads.

No Hauslers on the list...I thought Thom could get a nod as a returner, especially when compared to the stats of the guys who did get the honors.

Former D3football.com Defensive Player of the Year Jason Trusnik is nowhere to be found.  I'm not saying he should have made the first team.  I just think he should have made the list, especially when you compare him to some of the honorees.  MSJ's Lawless (who will be playing with Trusnik in the Aztec Bowl) had 14.5 TFL and 8.0 sacks.  Langston from Concordia finished with 14.5 TFL and 5.0 sacks.  Trusnik tallied 19.5 TFL and 11.0 sacks.  I think Stickley absolutely earned his spot and Studebaker appears to have had a heck of a season although the stats posted on the release (46 tackles, 26.5 TFL and 19.0 sacks) don't jive with the Wheaton website (44 tackles, 24.5 TFL and 17.5 sacks).  Either way the numbers are impressive.

I know the OAC can't win every honor and these awards are always up for debate.  Someone always gets overlooked and can make a case for themselves.  It's a pretty boring week though so I figure it's worth bringing up for debate.

Some of the players you are lobbying for here were not nominated.

well first off Kyle H only played in a few games this season

Nick Bucci- for sure should of gotten something.. A 1st team OAC player with around 13 sacks I believe one coming against a Mount team with 3 first team all region o-linemen

James Starks- arguably the best shut down corner in D3- I know mount didnt have many attempts passing, but he led a Crusader Defense that gave up only 28 yards passing.. thats pretty darn good

If these players were not nominated then well IDK lol

KINARD=BEAST

You know in hindsight, I really do feel bad that Rocky's legacy will be his losses to Mount Union.  No joking this time, the kid was a really good QB, he deserved first team all region.

Small but Slow

He's not the first great OAC QB unable to get over that hump.  His legacy should more accurately be his role reviving the Cap program.

small but slow- good point...

JK thanks for your answer regarding bullet proof vests... somehow i looked over it

Are we going to have a gathering at BW3's tonight? I might actually get to sneak out tonight since it's my birthday. :P I doubt I'll see anybody before the game because I have the weight room duty in the morning again tomorrow morning and will be sliding in sometime in the first quarter. Should be hanging on the south end along the wall by the main entrance as usual. If things get tight, I'll be down with the students in the south endzone. Look forward to seeing and meeting a lot of the regular posters.

I'm hoping to hit there around 9 p.m. but that means I must get out the door now. :)

Mt.'s offense is on the field alot these days OU 25.  Their number one that's true but the reason seems to be the number of chances they get to do their thing.  I stand by my statement ,  their defense is the strongest part of their machine this year.  And if they are to prevail, their defense will make it so.

Defense wins championships...no doubt about it.

OU

You got to much free time on your hands. Besides are you going to the game saturday?

Don't tell my boss!
I wish I could be there tomorrow...unfortunately I'll be doing a magic show in Cincinnati till 1pm.  My dad is cool however...he calls me with the radio turned up so I can listen to Ric's call.  I'll also dial in the wrmu guys when I get home.

BTW...I'm assuming it costs $$$ to SEE the game online tomorrow..????

OU#25 - The Mount defense hasn't changed in philosophy or technique for over 20 years, yet it is still effective and no coach has really figured a way to exploit it.  Each year the freshmen come in and start learning the system and by the time they're playing varsity their reads and reaction are second habit to them.  Of course, it takes good athletes to make the tackles and good coaching to teach and make necessary adjustments.  That's what builds a machine.

Only 1 more day until Saturday fellas!!!
Really I always thought something came between today and Saterday.

Pop quiz:
If it's the end of the day on Thursday, and you have a football game on Saturday, how many days are left inbetween?
Well I also thought the end of the day was midnight so at 10 P.M. it is still Thursday and in one day from 10 P.M. Thursday it will still be Friday.  Unless of course you lose 2 hours somewhere.

Small but Slow

As for skunks mention of Mount lining up in a "Wildcat" offense, it's possible.  Does Bo Pietro stir any memories of Mount football lore?
