BillyRayJimBob,
Thank you for saving my life!  Tuning into the TV broadcast after Mount was ahead by 7, I didn't know Pat was doing the TV broadcast (open-mouth-insert-foot).  You said it best.  Pat's crew does a fine job, but their lack of emotion (trying too hard to be neutral?) in describing the game made it sound like a couple of accounting professors at a corporate tax convention.
WRMU crew was great this year, it would be hard for anybody to measure up (Ric probably would, but I can't get his broadcasts).  It hasn't always been this way.  I remember student broadcast crews that made me wince with all the corny cliches and lack of description on plays.  This year's crew was special.  They could go straight into a professional booth and do a great job.  I hope they do.

Calling for 56, partly cloudy and 10% chance of rain on Saturday. Scattered showers Wednesday and Thursday. That's pretty nice weather considering what we've had in Roanoke/Salem the last few trips.

I'm already hearing that LK has lost confidence in our QB's getting it done through the air. I can't believe that. Jorris has been more than effective all year and now that Kmic has been turned loose the talk is about our passing game. I believe the passing game is there if needed and with UWW we will need to throw some, more than what we have, to loosen up their D.

For driving down to Salem, can someone give me the exact directions to the stadium?   Is there an address i can plug into mapquest to find the directions to the staium?  Thanks

seventies:

First, it is my understanding that birthday greetings are in order for you.  So Happy Birthday to you and I hope that your day was enjoyable, with you and family.  If you are like me, I'm still celebrating them (BD's), but just not "counting" them anymore! ;D

Second, as far as Salem, indeed the above website posting can give you directions.  Yet, even without that, Salem Stadium is not hard to find.  If you get off at the first Salem/Roanoke exit, all you need do is go straight through the towns on Main Street; passing by a lot of neat shops and Sports pubs/restaurants and the usual mini-malls as well as passing by Roanoke College (which will be on your left i.e. north).  When you get through the main part of town (near where the Holiday Inn Express and some other motels are; the former is where a lot of fans stay - I've stayed there twice on my Stagg Bowl trips), you will hit a main 4 lane drive, turning Right (south), you will go toward the Salem Civic Center Complex which includes the football stadium, the Minor League (and large) baseball stadium and the Salem Civic Center bb arena.  They are  all situated on a hill and you can't miss them.

BTW, the two times I went to the Stagg Bowl, 2001 and 2004, the weather was a rare excellent - in the high 60's - 70's, no clouds and really sunny.  Can't beat that for the weekend before Christmas!  I wish I could go this year, however, am unable to since I have to work that weekend.  Anyway, you shouldn't have a problem finding it and I sincerely hope you (and your Mount Union colleagues) have a great time.  (At least you have less distance to drive than I/we do when we go there! ;)).

Best to you,

SOme awesome stats when comparing to Moore and Pugh, and still got 2 yrs to go. But we do need to remember, both Pugh and Moore were on a 14 game season where as Kmic gets the extra game sicne the bye is now obsolete. Any way you slice it, Nate is in some lofty status and more is yet to come! Sorry, was hoping to meet up with you friday night or at the game, however if you and B4 are coming to Salem, we'll meet up there. Drop me a line what you got planned.

That's surprising to some degree.  Although I only witnessed Mount's first playoff game and obviously did not see them play since, against our Hope secondary, Mount sure had the passing game in order.  It would appear from what you and some others mention that they have executed the passing game rather poorly or sporatic?  On the other hand, being that their running game is at full speed, they probably haven't needed the passing game.  Yet I understand what you and others are concerned about - Mount might want the passing game to be more sharp just in case they need to rely on it more.  Obviously, a balanced attack is always best, although from what I saw, Mount indeed has this.  You know more than me, however, since you have seen them numerous times as opposed to my "once".  Do you think it will be a closer game this year?  Or do you think , at least following what appears to be this year's trend, it will again be like last year's Stagg Bowl?

We haven't needed the passing game but I believe if needed against UWW it will be there... It may be a little rusty but we have enough talented receivers to get the job done.

I think this year the game will be defense and not as high scoring at last year's SB. Both teams have outstanding defenses but Kmic will still get his yards.

reality check

Not DIII but still thought the proud Ohioans would like to know that Arizona had its 5-A state championship last night and Hamilton High School, a team that has won 3 state championships in the last 4 years and asserted itself as the top big school in all of Arizona, was victorious once again.  They finished the season 13-1 with their only blemish being a loss to Massillon Washington of all teams.  Knowing that a Massillon Tiger team that went 7-5 beat the best team in Arizona keeps that Ohio pride alive.

Craiginator,
I agree Brandon Stewart was excellent too, but he was one guy.  The current crew is best broadcast team, IMHO.

I actually like having it this way over viewing it on television. I had several projects to work on and just carried my laptop from room to room so I could watch and work at the same time. Thanks to ncaasports.com and the D3announcers. You guys sounded like you've been doing this for years!

Thanks -- we have been, actually. Keith and I have been calling games together since 1999.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Mount fans who recall the Bridgewater led tailgate, Stone Station, expect a repeat performance and an even bigger party than before.

Llamaguy from the ODAC board will be on to post the details.  Hope to see you there.

Llamaguy

Thanks Pat!

As advertised Stone Station will be in Salem again. The only thing as reliable as Stone Station being in Salem is Mt. Union playing in Salem, year after year. Good Luck Saturday.

We will be doing two batches of BBQ chicken this year, the first to come off the grill at noon and another at 2pm. Of course Olinemom will be supplying the brownies again. As usual just look for the Bridgewater Football flags in the parkinglot. We are also requesting any posters that stop by sign the poster sign-in board at Stone Station. We want as many posters who would like to meet each other and this way we know who is there.

Finally I would also like to invite any posters or lurkers for that matter to join us in a post patterns get together at The Corn Beef & Co. in Roanoke at 7pm Friday night. It is a sports bar that will have the D1-BCS game playing. I am told some of the D3Football dignitaries will be in attendance.

De javu from last year;except, we all have 3 extra hours to tailgate. I know you'all remember the BC vs. MUC Stagg in 2001. Wish they all could be night games.

Hope to see that purple cowboy hat Theaprof and you too 70'sraider and son.

Safe travels and see you this weekend. ;)

Kevin and I will contibute a couple hundred homemade Buckeyes (the candy chocolate and peanut butter ones). I'll be driving like Dale Earnhardt on I81 trying to get in front of Theaprof for the Brownies (and in front of Cummings for the chicken) . ::) And thanks again for all you guys do to make the Stagg even a greater event.

Unfortunately, I cant make it to Salem, so everybody going down have a safe trip and do some tailgating for those who cant make it.

As for the St. John Fisher folks (especially those of you whose kid attends Mount), it was great talking to you guys and that is a great football team.

For Saturday's game, I hope the teams can put on a great show on espn 2, because I am going to have a few friends over that have never seen a Mount Union game (they are all College of Wooster fans down here).

As for the run happy offense, I hope we some Jorris to Garcon connections like we did in last years Stagg Bowl.

Goodluck to both teams, I guess it doesnt really matter who wins we will be assured of a purple Christmas...  I just hope the winners are the Purple Ohioans
