Good Luck to MU this weekend!!

I find it funny that fans complain about MUC passing game, I do not know of a team in the country that wouldn't love to run the ball and control the clock like MU has done the last few weeks.

I wonder what coach would do and whom he would go with if Mount were down 10 or 14 points in the 4th quarter

Small but Slow

If Kmic continues to remain healthy he may approach some NCAA career record stats.  Judging from his yards per carry average, he's not taking too much abuse despite the number of carries, so his chances are good as long as he has a good line play in front of him and the threat of a passing game to keep the defense offf balance.

Great post.  It does prove that we're completely spoiled as MUC fans.

And on the 4th quarter question, I'm guessing Jorris.  Micheli is a nice change of pace but his passing isn't consistent enough to have him throwing the ball when you MUST keep a drive going and the opponent KNOWS what you're going to do.  There's a huge difference in being able to cross up the opposing D versus exerting one's will on the opposing D even when they know it's coming.  Which is what has impressed me so much with the O-line and Kmic's performance against Wheaton, Capital and SJF.  All three teams knew exactly what was coming and MUC still was able to run the ball effectively.  My worry is whether the passing game is gone, or just sleeping.  It better be just sleeping or it could be a long drive home from Salem VA.......

For what it's worth, I'd set Capital at a 6 point favorite over St John's Fisher on a neutral field.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

See you at the stadium!--Seventies doesn't have a chance of beating me to Salem unless he is leaving before noon on Friday (my anticipated departure.)

See ya at the STAGG!!!!

As long as there is the threat of a passing game the running game can bring a team back from a two score deficit.  If a team is down by two scores, chances are the offense hasn't been able to move the ball consistently.  Running the football is about attitude.  If LK believes he can run the ball he will stick with it until Kmic breaks off a big one.  A lesson learned from the St. Johns game of 2003.

Just in case everyone didn't follow the links the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, I thought I'd post this box from one of the articles.  So much for playing the easier teams in our open slot!  Depending on the playoffs next year, we could see a 4 year run of MUC-STJF games.  Anyone who paid much attention to Saturday's game knows that this will not be an easy matchup unless either team falls quickly--and that's not likely to happen.  Congrats to both schools for scheduling tough games to test their teams early on!

Contract finalized
St. John Fisher athletic director Bob Ward confirmed that the Cardinals have completed a contract to play Mount Union in the 2008 and '09 season openers.  The 2008 contest will be in Alliance, Ohio, and the 2009 game in Pittsford.  "Good teams should play good teams," said Mount Union coach Larry Kehres.  "We have a great amount of respect for what St. John Fisher College is doing. They ought to be commended.  "I don't think we can discount playing them in '07," he added, implying the potential for an NCAA Tournament rematch next season.

I'm guessing they resolved the 4:00 PM start time at SJF which was rumored to be the hangup for Mount, requiring us to get home late or stay over. Athletic Director Kehres doesn't like to spend money on stuff like that ;)

Hey Pat....Pam Ward on the call for ESPN....is Bill Curry back?  He likes the DIII final and I enjoy listening to him... (Actually, I think he is a bit of a Mount homer)

Wish we could listen to you guys at the stadium...

When is DIII going to break the game down and give their thoughts??

I know the guy that creates that, and yes he is one of the purple suit guy.  If i know him like i do, he'll have one out about Whitewater soon.  That or right after the Stagg Bowl is over.

Where is everyone staying overnight at?  I'm looking for a cheap room for the night.  Just wondering what prices I can get down there.

I don't know who's on color.

We'll be covering the game all week. Probably will do our predictions Friday. We'll have a pregame podcast that night. Pregame show starts Saturday two hours before kickoff.

From information I received, Bill Curry will not be at the Stagg Bowl this year.  He was quite a fan of the game and really treated D3 with respect.

After last year's game, I was on the same flight as he from Roanoke to Charlotte and we had a brief discussion about it...he enjoyed himself and the atmosphere.

Pat (the guru)--

It was a pleasure to meet up with you at BWW on friday evening--too bad there wasn't a bigger crowd, but at least this way I'm sure you'll remember your promise to me for two press box passes at the Stagg.  Remember?  You promised them to me right after your fifth beverage of the evening. ::)  I guess you'll leave them at will call?

Oh wait-maybe it was my fifth beverage. ;D

Thanks to Ryan Coleman for the the picture of Robinson pulling Daryl Ely out of bounds by his face mask. One of the biggest non-calls of the day and led to a score. I can't believe Ryan shot 700 pictures of the game. Someday I'll find time to look at them all. ;D
