Hey Pat....Pam Ward on the call for ESPN....is Bill Curry back?  He likes the DIII final and I enjoy listening to him... (Actually, I think he is a bit of a Mount homer)

Just a thought, but after all the time Bill Curry has spent in Green Bay as a player for Lombardi and Assistant Coach for Bart Starr, I believe it's all an act, being a Mount homer, that is.  I think he is a true Wisconsin fan in disguise.

Thx guys, any idea why Beaver isn't on there?

No, and considering theaprof's evasive answering of UWW fans' questions about Garcon I'm not sure you'd get a reasonable answer in response from them. :)

Our guys didn't mention anything unusual happening to Beaver.

Not sure that a home and home between Capital and SJF in 2010 and 2011 would settle whether Capital '06 is better than SJF '06.   :)

I don't know who would win between CAP and SJF.  In fact, none of us know.  What I do know is that you have guys like hscoach and Ric telling you as Mount fans (some of the most level-headed and knowledgable Mount fans in fact) that they would rather play SJF again instead of Capital.  That's not a shot at SJF as they have explained but they're giving you reasonable explanations for their beliefs.  I would agree with the sentiments of most of the responders though and say Mount would much rather play SJF again for the reasons already listed: I like CAP's passing game over SJF running game, CAP's run D was more effective than SJF's and perhaps biggest of all, CAP played Mount tighter in the second meeting of each of the last two years; something most Mount opponents have never historically been able to do.

SJF played a heck of a game.  Don't be so sore about the fact that Mount fans say CAP is a scarier team.  SJF has a lot to look forward to and I know Mount faithful have to be excited about the prospects of a competitive and exciting opening game in 2008.

I think SJF would play you better in a 2nd game, similar to our Springfield meeting, and your Capital meeting this year.

Also, I know Capital had a great QB and a very good passing game, but I believe if Robinson got Robinson got 40 carries instead of us trying to continuously drop back against your quicker defensive front, it may have been a little different.

Don't take that as any type of excuse, MUC flat won the game. Just stating some other thoughts.

If I may step in as a neutral observer (probably stupidly, but what the hey!), I'd go with Cap.  My reasoning is that Cap played MUC right down to the wire (in the game that counted!), while SJF just wasn't competitive in the 4th quarter.

I speak without having seen Cap at all, and SJF only in the MUC game (I'm going only with what little I saw, plus game reports and postings here).  I was only able to see the first and fourth quarters of the MUC-SJF game, but it was two totally different games!  In the first quarter, SJF played MUC dead-even (and I'm not talking just about the score).  From everything I've read, the 2nd and 3rd quarters may have been the same.  MAYBE the blocked FG changed the momentum, but the way I saw the 4th quarter was that the MUC O-Line and Kmic had just plain worn out the SJF defense, and that Kmic was henceforth unstoppable.  My impression is that if MUC had needed another TD, Kmic could have easily complied.

Leaving aside the earlier games (including SJF losing to someone NOT named MUC), the playoff games leave me feeling that Cap would prevail over SJF since they hung with MUC all four quarters, while SJF only managed 3 quarters.  Just my 2 cents.

first off as I said I agree about the multiple games...I'm saying from the first game that the teams played....Honestly How many stragiht times has Cap lost to MUC THEY SHOULD finally win a game...  when you play a team one or two times a year every year you think you could win A game... but if you put the games at even fisher played a closer first game...and I say the game was close in the 4th quater fisher was driving to take the lead or bring the game close when they blocked the kick in the fourth...so the game was close and fisher was competive for the first half of the fourth....Listen what I took offense to and found very inacurate is people coming on here saying the Cap would be 6 point faviorites on a neutral field...which I think would be closer they might be a 1 or 2 point faviorite

I wasn't being evasive--I just answered the question that was asked--and I answered it with complete honesty.  Garcon did not break his hand in the SJF game.  They didn't ask if he had a broken hand!

Well, the great pre-game Beacon-Journal feature articles have started and fittingly today's is a Terry Pluto masterpiece on Larry Kehres

Very Nice Tribute

Small but Slow

The way D-I coaches jump ship this time each year for better jobs (e.g. Dennis Erickson) that article speaks volumes about LK's character.  Great article!

theaprof

Nice article in today's Repository on Stickley (not sure how to post a link, but here is the address):
