Garcon certainly loves to play the game.  He may be the best chance that Mt. has had in sometime of playing on sunday.  He would have to beef up some and that might affect his speed.  But he still is a growing lad and who knows?  stranger things have happened.  But he still needs to concentrate on his senior year, get the degree first and see what happens.

Hopefully he concentrates on up coming track season and lets those other things come

He's got another year, too.

Pat

I'm fully aware he has another year.  That was why I said he has no business thinking about it this off-season.

I think that Garcon's best chance is to become a technically superb route runner. :)

There is no harm with inquiring. The NFL sends 6 scouts, they do an evaluation and let him know the projection if he would make himself eligible.

As a former UW-L guy... just wanted to extend my congrats to Mt. Union for another championship  :P
You guys have another incredible team!  Congrats!   :)

At this time of the year those 6 NFL scouts have more productive things to do for their employers than to make special trips or other special efforts to evaluate some long shot junior who is playing DIII football and who purportedly has very pedestian NFL numbers. After the draft send out copies of some suitable tapes (preferably not high lights), and maybe a few NFL people will get around to looking at, and conscientiously forming opinions on, them in due course. Then if any one is sufficiently interested, they will get in touch. Certainly before the draft and perhaps afterward you will get very short shrift from the NFL at best - more probably no shrift. Because a few fans are overheated about this man doesn't mean NFL scouting departments can be made to become very excited.

I'm fully aware you're fully aware. :) Just want to make sure anyone else who drives by the conversation realizes that as well.

I have a D1 Transfer question.  I know if a D1 player transfers to DIAA or lower, they don't have to sit out a year, but if they transfer to another D1 school, they have to sit out.  Do they lose that year (that they sat out) as a year of eligibility?

Mr. Ypsi

Not 100% positive, but pretty sure they don't lose eligibility.

Frankster, his legit track times give him instant credibillity. He has the speed to take the top off of any coverage at any level.Receivers who have the speed with hands, and the ability to naturally adjust to the ball are not as common as you think. Is he ready now, probably not,why not inquire.A sniff,I don't think so,Frank-o-rama.

I bet the NFL scouting departments don't currently think so.

Why not inquire??  The reverse question is why now anyway?  I thought that's why he went to a DIII school in the first place i.e. to get his education (unlike many who go to upper division schools just to attempt to go to the NFL).  Garcon indeed does have some great talent and if he has the parameters and desire to try and make it in the NFL, no doubt he'll have at least an opportunity to show these attributes next year after his senior season is completed.  IMO, like others have said, he should concentrate on track, then his senior fb season, not to mention his current classwork!  But, on the other hand, it is his own personal decision to make and also, like Frank and others said, depends on what the "scouts" say/evaluate.  I do wish him all the best in whatever might transpire and/or whatever route he chooses.

He has been scouted by "local NFL scouts".  More so as they checked out a few others playing in a specific game, but he has been seen, and is on at least someone's radar.

It is very unlikely that any "evaluation" will take place in the near future.  Pierre has much to work on, and I like Frank believe it would be a big stretch for him to get drafted next year.  He WILL get a free agent offer from more than one team however.

i was sitting here thinking about if any of the other guys on MUCs team could play at the next level... Lewis and Stickley( if he puts on some weight) come to mind... any thoughs?

Sorry but no. Very rare for a D3 player to get a look much less an invite or drafted by an NFL team. Personally, the only player, because he has some speed, would be Garcon.
