Small but slow - If you factor in the approximate $25,000 tuitions of 200 football players (plus their friends who come to school with them), I would think MUC football is supporting academics in a big way.

Collins received Ohio COY, Goodwin men's basketball COY, many Cap teams have been or going to the NCAA tournament....athletics at Cap looking very good!

felson - No doubt about it.  I had never heard of MUC before the summer prior to my senior year in high school when I started receiving recruiting letters from the football program.  Coach Wable and Coach Kehres (then recruiting coordinator) and Dr. Giese (director of financial aid) did a terrific job educating (or selling) my father and I on the benefits of the college, as well as the football program. I chose MUC, had a great experience, even after my football playing days were ended by injury, and other people around my home town (185 miles from Alliance) learned about the college and began attending.  The football program's success is an obvious tool utilized in the college growing to its present size.  Academics definitely benefit from the reputation of the football team at Mount Union.

3.  Michael Allan, TE, Whitworth: The only Division III prospect invited to the Combine, the odds were against Allen being able to stand out amidst so many higher profile athletes. But Allan opened eyes when he strung together impressive performances in several skills designed to show pure athleticism. Allan tied with the second fastest 40 time (4.71) and vertical jump (36 inches), and led the tight ends with a 10'3" broad jump.

JK - Sponsorship of D3 athletics is definitely scaled down in comparison to DI, as is everything else.  DI commands much more from sponsors due to larger crowds at games and greater audiences on their own television and radio networks.  I don't believe sporting goods companies provide their goods to D3 schools at no cost, but more than likely discount the goods.  It doesn't make good business sense for a national corporation to advertise to a crowd of a couple thousand when they can reach crowds of 80,000 or more.

Smucker makes a variety of brands of peanut butter but, I believe, none in Ohio. PA and KY are the states.

I can't for the life of me figure out why Stoonk was not granted honorary membership in the post patterns hall of fame for his witty contributions and enlightened commentary.

It's the one that Frank U just got picked to be a part of recently (its noted next to his name at the left of every post) and a few others as well.  I'm guessing more people will get this tremendous and prestigious honor as we move forward.

There should be a listing somewhere of the HOF members.

It's a travesty that Ric isn't among the members of the PP HOF.   ;)  Though the sheer number of his posts may not be that high, the quality of his posts must be taken into account when considering his overall body of work.  Kind of like Gayle Sayers in the Pro Football HOF.

OAC posters unite!  We need to start a grassroots campaign to get someone from our board elected.  When does the selection committee meet?   ;D
