The home field advantage is no long bus ride to the game. Some claim the home team gets more favorable treatment from the refs. The real advantage is the comfort of the locker room! You guys have any stories to share about the visitors side locker rooms? Ive heard some good ones from highschoolers. Surely colleges are above all that psychological warfare stuff. ;D

Home field advantage doesn't have the same kind of impact in the OAC as it does in the Horseshoe but I know most teams would still rather play at home and the stats do support the idea of home field advantage somewhat.

I just looked up some numbers from the past three seasons.

BW is 17-13 overall.  They've gone 10-5 at home and 7-8 on the road.
Capital has gone 28-8 overall.  The Crusaders are 15-2 at home and 13-6 on the road.
JCU is 18-12 overall.  They've gone 12-3 at home and 6-9 on the road.
OTT is 15-15 overall.  They've gone 9-6 at home and 6-9 on the road.
Marietta is 17-13 overall.  They're 7-8 at home and 10-5 on the road.
Wilma is 8-22.  They've gone 4-11 at home and on the road.
Musky is 5-25 with 4 of its wins coming at home.
ONU has gone 22-8.  The Bears are 11-4 at home and 11-4 on the road.

MUC and the Berg are not really helpful since they're nearly perfect for opposite reasons.

But BW, CAP, JCU, OTT and MUSKY all have better records at home than on the road.
rc,
Nice analysis.  Also, I discovered why Marietta wins more and loses less on the road.  Check out their home locker room as displayed on their website!  It appears the school doesn't let the players sit on the chairs!   ;)

I'm pretty sure that McCoy Athletic Center is the same spot I met Coach Epley when I went to Etta for a recruiting visit.  I wasn't exactly wowed by the fact I was basically touring what looked and felt like a double-wide trailer.

But the new additions look like a plus.  Whether they can sit in the chairs or not, it's a step up from what I saw on my visit way back when  ;).  I hope the facilities have improved for the players.  The weight room appears to have been enlarged which is a definite improvement.  I remember being disappointed by the size of the lifting facility on my visit.  I do however know the fieldhouse down there is beautiful from my broadcasting trips while at ONU.  I was just so unimpressed on my visit across the board and it was a shame because the campus is quite nice and the school did appeal to me.

Why do they have a picture of their QB playing at BW on the page for Don Drumm Stadium?

rc and kirasdad,
Those two pics and rc's comment about trailerlike facilities gives me a great idea for new recruiting slogan (you have to see both pics to appreciate this):

Now I'm feeling guilty for my last post, so I gotta add that I think Marietta is one of the top small colleges in Ohio.  :-*

Still that doublewide thing could turn some heads down there on the river ::)

Here's nice article about DIII Football with a lot about Mount Union

That's an instant Post Patterns Classic.

Well done!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I leave for a few days and come back to read you guys cutting down the Etta facilities.  >:( I'm glad I'm back to set the record straight. First of all, cufan, it must be sad that a lower tiered team like Etta beat BW like a drumm I mean at the Drumm and they beat ONU at their place.  :o I say not bad for a bottom feeder. Okay I'm done venting and I can appreciate the humour in the rest of the comments.  ;D Seriously, Etta is moving in the right direction and their location in the historical town is very nice. Jr. went to OWU partially for the facilities but ultimately, for now, he likes what Etta has to offer.  :P I gotta find a diversion for you all to talk about. How about the fact Mount Union is playing Florida in 2009. ::)

SI.Com this morning says the Stagg Bowl will stay in Salem at least through 2009. ;D

Not sure if anyone has posted this.

Quote from the article:  "So, does the former Roughrider think he might redshirt his first year, or does he hope to go in and play right away?"

I thought non-medical redshirts were not allowed in DIII..

Also, nice size LB as an incomming Freshman (6'0" 220 lbs.).

Perci Garner is listed as a player on the BIG 33 GAME roster. His college  choice is also listed. I dont know how or when this info is obtained or whether its even accurate.....but it says Perci Garner is going to Mount Union.  Are we past the rumor phase officially now? :)

reality check

Did they photocopy his deposit check at MUC and paperclip it to the roster?

If not it's still the rumor phase.
