Yep. And he wasn't enrolled for that number of semesters, so he's set.

I didn't think it was enrolled for that number of semesters.  I thought it was that the clock started ticking once you start your first semester.

Pat: Thanks for the link. I totally agree with the story of some people believing DIII is just an extension of high school ball. I also read the story on St. Vincent, another good story to read. Marietta scrimmages them on Friday. I can't wait because I'm tired of watching them beat up on each other. I also can't really tell how good they are because they appear to continue evaluating all personnel. Tonight is the community meet the team night. The intra-squad scrimmage last Saturday was a success. I was pleasantly surprised of how many people came out to watch it. The coaches and school are doing a good job promoting the team. One of the games will even be televised locally this year. I believe it will help their recruiting locally where some of the best teams in the state of WV play right at their backdoor and they have struggled recruiting them in the past. I still believe success breeds success when you talk about players who routinely played in state playoffs and championships in high school. Marietta is starting to get those key players. Goooooo Pioneers!

There's still hope for you guys to be gunners on punt team for LK.   ;)

Since MUC only punts about 20 times in an entire season, I'm up for it!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

You mean I could even have two semesters left of eligibility ... Wow! I run every day and I'm probably in pretty good shape for a 49 year old. I might last one practice, but not two.

Great column, Pat. And I agree completely.

And I worry that at some point this 59 year old will get some playing time (whether on special teams or plays from scrimmage) over some 18 or 19 year old player. And the players passed over will become disillusioned. Not good for the program or Div III.

If a 59 year old can beat you out for playing time when you are 18 or 19, maybe you need to take up another sport!   :o ;)

Makes me think of my favorite line from the movie "The Natural"

"Son, you don't start playing ball at your age, you retire"

I wonder if Hiram needs a straight ahead FG kicker

Why stop there?  They need a lot more than just a kicker.

Regarding Hiram. As bad as their program has been the last umpteen years, did they really hire from within? :o

Had a chance to speak with both LK and VK today and neither one asked me about my remaining year of eligibility. Guess they have the PAT kicker slot filled. ::)

Hey, maybe Kenyon.

Raider Fans,

Where is all this flooding that has been on the news for the last several days. Is it near Alliance?

Ahhh...pick-ems, the most fun you can have on these boards with your clothes on!  ::)

I didn't know you were supposed to make the picks with your clothes on!  No wonder I got such strange looks at work when I made my picks from there.

It is mostly in western Ohio, more in the neighborhood of Ohio Northern and Heidelberg although Route 619 just outside of Alliance was still closed today because a section washed away.

Well guys, I had been keeping it quiet but I'm so pumped about this that I thought I should share.  I started last week as on offensive and defensive line coach for one of the high schools out here.  Just got back from a scouting assignment tonight and we have our first game next week.  I've been wanting to coach since I was done with football and it's finally happening for me.  I'm thrilled for this opportunity.

I hope to still be here as much as ever but I know this is gonna be a big time commitment.
