Nice job with that Pat.  Really nice.

Anyone else going to B-W - Augie this Sat?  I'm thinking about it.  Should be a good one.

Ric, et al,

I would be very interested in any observations and reports from anyone who attends. thanks in advance.

I think the Augie running game against a good BW defense will be an interesting matchup...probably be one of the better D3 games this week....

Kcreds,

Thanks for making the trip. You discovered something I have enjoyed for many years now. It is my "home" away from home "Raider Country" so to speak. The friendships I have made are priceless and I can't wait for every "next Saturday" to come. I think you saw first hand that St Johns is as classy a group of players and fans as you can find anywhere. John is an amazing guy and he is humble in his accomplishments too.

Marietta has a lot to be proud of and will gain from the experience........like "I don't want to loose another game that takes 15 hours to get to". LOL! I wish you guys luck the rest of the way except for one game in Nov.? It is too bad this is only a one and done matchup but maybe it will spark another OAC tilt in the future. Mount is hooked up for the next two years with St John.................Fisher so that is not in the cards but maybe a BW, Cap or ONU (it would be a shorter drive, Dean) could look northwest for that first game. St Johns is always looking for games. These would be barn burner match-ups for both teams.

Hope to see you in November if I can get back.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Is there a list anywhere of all the D-III games being carried on STO this season? I can add it to my DirecTV lineup but am pondering whether it's worth $12 a month for the sports pack.

hscoach: What is up with you? Did I offend you somehow or do you just have a chip on your shoulder? I have nothing against MU, except I hope Marietta can beat them one day. If MU kills Etta again this year and they do it with class, I could care less if they score over 100. Give me a break! ::)

raiderguy: If every week of football is as much fun as I had there talking football with all you guys, this will be a very blessed season. BW is next on the list. By the way, the loss and the roadtrip was a hard knock lesson to learn. ;D

Is there any local or satellite TV coverage of Mount Union either live or tape delayed? My son's a freshman there from eastern PA and I'd like to be able to record the games for family and friends that can't make the trip.

Seventies,

Very nice article.  As you know, I came from a home with two teachers for parents.  Neither one ever wanted to do anything else, and they both enjoyed immensely their 30+ years as educators.  My mom was a little disgruntled by the mess that was Marlington the last few years, but I can tell that she still misses teaching.  She still smiles when she runs into former students in town and hears about what they have accomplished.  Some thank her, some don't, but that's not why she did it.

My dad is finally retiring following this year after 37 years at West Branch.  He, too, takes great pride in seeing many of his former students and athletes.

It truly is a noble profession.  I never wanted to be a teacher, and amazingly my parents never tried to talk me into it.  The only advice I got from them was "If you don't want to do it, don't do it on our account, because you have to love it to be a teacher."  Very good advice, and now that I am 15 years out of high school, and teaching ROTC, I finally understand what they mean.

I think that your assertions that Etta actually had a chance to beat St. John's may have rubbed a few folks the wrong way.  I suppose they did have a chance, they did take the field on Saturday...but so did Averett.

Seventies-

That's a very nice article and a great story.  Well done!

Let me get this straight, I offended someone because I have faith in and support my son and his team, okay. ::)

No.  Its offending people like Ric, as you did last week.  Ric is Hscoach's stepchild.  You caused a big stir around here last week with your argument about Marietta.   I'm not even going to rehash it.  You were defending last year's team based upon the stats you read and NOT by seeing the teams like some of the fellas did on this thread.
