My wife says I am obnoxious and that I always have to have the last word, I'll try to watch that on here. ;D

Kcreds,

I see you are hard at WORK. ;D

Have a great one.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

JK

I hate when real life intervenes during the football season  ;)

Thanks, guys, for all your support.  Though I have only met a few of you in person, I appreciate the discussions we have on here.  Of course we all share the common bond of being OAC supporters.  We all know that our "friends" are people we share commonalities with.  Thus, I count you all among my friends.

More importantly, I didn't want you all to think that the longest tenured Cap supporter just disappeared for no reason.  ;D  I don't want to be used as a stat for Reality check's arguments...

In seriousness, my family, friends, and colleagues are all helping me out with my decision.  It is a tough one, but I don't suspect that it is any tougher than anyone else considering a career change.  This is all I have known since I graduated from college, and with so much time invested it is tough to walk away.  But, sometimes you have to.  It is pretty easy to draw a correlation to the end of your football career.  If you can recall the last game you played, you can sort of understand my feelings.  You know you have given your heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears for so many years and have been a part of something larger than yourself.  You want it to continue, but know that you probably don't possess what it takes to do so.

On a football note, I am pretty interested in seeing what BW has to offer this year.  By all accounts, Auggie looked pretty good last week.  We'll see if BW's defense can stop that offense.  I think it was the around the region column that mentioned that BW sort of snuck up on Auggie last year after their first losing season in forever.  That won't happen this year, but the game is on the green cement, which takes some adapting to.  I'll be following best I can, but the wife knows that Cap doesn't play this week, so she might come up with something else to do.

I promise that you sir are a statistical anomoly.

MUC fans

I was hanging with the coaches at our Tuesday night coaches get-together and heard a familiar name from two of our coaches: Bruney.  They're good friends with Tom Bruney who was a very successful head coach out here for over a decade and is apparently coaching Maple Heights after a one-year stint at Lakeside.  I believe he's the uncle of the former Raiders QB.  Small world.

Oh and LK can breathe easy.  I'm a .500 coach now.

JK,
God Bless You whatever you decide to do. I and most Americans that don't have the same views on our current conflict, appreciate your effort, courage and dedication to our country.
I honestly thank God every day for gentlemen like yourself.
Please be safe.

Toph whats the word on JCU?  They shut down Kmic as well as anyone did last year and I was very impressed with Petruziello, I thought he was the best young QB in the league.  I had heard he was hurt but was glad to see he played against Wooster.  Do you still talk to anyone there?  If so how do they feel about this year's team?

Toph

I do still talk to some folks every now and then, haven't talked to anybody since basketball season, however.  I'll see if I can shoot an email off and see if I can hear how the team looks this year.  Saw a few quick minutes on STO over the weekend, and they looked good in the boxscore.  I'm a big fan of Petruziello too, he's got a nice arm and really sees the field well, he moves pretty well too.

As for shutting down Kmic...contained as best as possible is probably a better choice of words.   :P

A lot of the people I know have graduated, but I'll see if I can find something.

Picking up where they left off at the end of '06...and then some.

Defense was strong the last half of the year and should be better in '07.  Had no problem with Woo in '07.

Same thing for Petruziello...bettter in '07.  Running game looks improved.  I like the passing attack better this year too, even though they lost Konrad...much more balance.  Plus Petruziello has the year under his belt...and what a nice back-up QB in Kirbus.

They're my #2 pick behind MUC.

We'll definitely know whether you're right in a hurry.  Weeks 3 thru 5 is a real gauntlet with a trip to ONU, home to BW and then finishing at Capital.  That's a tougher 3 game stretch than many teams would see in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Ric

Well JCU held Kmic to 79 yards on 19 carries last year, that's far better than any of the playoff teams managed.  We'll know more after B-W's game this weekend but I think the three teams to battle MTU at the top are JCU, B-W and ONU.  I just think CAP lost too much, but I also think Collins is a great coach so they'll make some noise before its all said and done.

cufan

Ric, I agree with you.  The only advantage for Cap is every team you mentioned plays in Bexley.  With Wilmington and Berg up next for Cap, hopefully that will give Assman and the O the reps they need to improve.

As a JCU supporter I am glad to see that Petro is playing well. I think that he is going to have an excellent year, barring any injury. I am pretty sure that he won't be cleared to play if he suffers a few more concussions. Offensively it obviously hurts losing Konrad, but it will definitely be more balanced this year, which I think will help both Kirbus and Petro since they aren't going to be keying on Konrad all the time. The RBs are ok in Gingrich and Stover, it will be interesting to see if Stover is getting more looks into the season. But fellow OACers I am going to be honest I don't think that either of them are as good as the old JCU backs Ryan DeGeorge or Brandon Oing if you remember them.

Defensively is going to be like any other year, we will be strong and one of the better defenses in the OAC. Nettling (hes a junior) can be an All-American, I think in his senior year at LB. It's going to be a fun one. I am not going to be too excited until we get deep into the schedule and play BW and Cap, etc.

The good news is hopefully the guys will be geared up to play the likes of BW (JCU Homecoming), confident in the Cap game especially after almost beating them in Uheights last year, and the defense proving that they are able to "contain" Kmic. I just don't want to see another debacle like the 55-3 JCU MUC game a couple years ago and more importantly the 70-0 game...

Should be exciting...

In Regis we trust.

Associated Press has announced that it will allow lower division schools to be included in the Top 25 College Football poll.  Yesterday, it's doors were only open to D1 schools.  Thank you App. State for shaking up tradition 8) .  Do you think there could be another lower division team entering the poll next week, too???
