Cardinals's coach played his first string  the entire game I believe.   Mt. had second and third string in most of the second half.   Congrats to the Otters you scored 0 against Mt.'s first unit defense and 14 against their second and third units.

Results for Week 3 of Pick-Em's has been posted.  Spreads for Week 4 will be sometime tomorrow.

Well, the BW-Marietta game was quite a joy to watch. One of the main things I noticed was that it looked a lot like we were playing Augustana, our defense made a lot of the plays. Still, going for it on 4th and 2 at the 18 when it's 14-0 sounds kay on paper, don't do it. Unless you want the BW D to take the INT for a TD  ;D

Still, I actually like Gardner better as a QB than Mental. Both are about the same in terms of raw passing but I think Gardner's footwork is a little better. Marietta's D wasn't too bad, but their offense clearly struggled. bout time we overcame them though.

BW-Wilmington next week? I'll take BW despite whatever the spread is :P

Marietta was more competitive than the score indicated. BW had a 90 yard INT return for a touchdown and Lane missed a makeable field goal. Not saying Marietta should have won, but just for sake of example turn those 3 plays around and it's 17-17, assuming the PAT make since obviously Marietta wouldn't go for two. Obviously a lot of improvement was made since St. John's, or St. John's is a WAY better team than B-W.

St. Johns is a better team than BW.

My take without seeing BW however. The D's would appear to be equal. The O would go to St Johns simply because of senior QB leadership and an emerging receiver corp that has skills. They still need to find a bruiser running back that can take it up the gut. Had little problem with Augsburg today.

Mount's defense is accumulating amazing statistics against the run AGAIN this year: 40 total rushing yards in two games (Otterbien -3).  An average of .7 yards or 2 feet per rush.

Also amazing AGAIN is two punts in two games. (None yesterday)

We're Back!!!
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Mount's back??  Didn't realize they went anywhere.  They are ridiculously good.

I do have some hope though...Otterbein scored 14 against MU's subs!!!

What the @#$% was Garcon's deal last night? He got tossed? For what? Ott was proud to have scored 14 on the 3rd stringers...must of been some moral victory or something.

And who is St. Cloud?

Marietta did improve from the first week against SJU, but frustrating that they didn't make the BW game closer.

The consistent highlight was the d-line and backers... really played well against the run.

Disappointed in missing the chippy field goal on the first possession and losing the starting QB on that drive too... he was four for four, would have been interesting to see him for the whole game.

Back-up qb did ok...some good throws and bad ones...touchdown called back on a questionable (Pio version) call would have made it 14-7...err 10 with that missed fg (woulda coulda shoulda).  Missed a WIDE OPEN receiver on the next play, but BW had good pressure...two plays later and the pressure popped up the pass for the interception td.  Glad to see the flag thrown on the end zone circus...thought MC might get one too.

Hope to see the offense and pass defense continue to improve against the Cardinals.

Purpled....Garcon appeared to have struck an Otter during the play and was flagged. As he was walking toward the sideline and about 20 yards away from the officials, he turned around and yelled something to the refs as he walked off the field.Whatever he said prompted three flags. It happened right in front of LK.The Raiders were assessed two 15 yard penalties and Garcon was ejected. The radio announcers said it would not effect his availability next week.Another starter got a 15 yard personal foul later and LK sat him for the remainder of the first half.

From my seat, Garcon has been asking for some "official" discipline for quite some time.  He throws a lot  of chippy late shots, offers plenty of unnecessary lip, and plays to the crowd...

This is a horrible thing for any program, especially Mount Union since people love to hate them anyway...His actions give opponents and fans a bad impression of MUC,  and plenty of ammunition to fire negatives at the program..

For all the talent that he has, Mount may be fortunate that his antics have not hurt them in an important contest...This incident may put officials in the conference on "Garcon watch", so I hope he has learned a lesson.
Would his actions  cause concerns for NFL scouts?

Maybe I am overreacting a bit. but I have been watching him get away with this borderline stuff ever since he came to Mount , and feel very strongly that this can be a very accurate reflection of character...

We (the Mounties in the seats) are proud of our kids because of the hard, fair, and classy way they play the game...Garcon has given the entire league an excuse to talk about the Raiders, their lack of discipline, and the fact that they will put up with him in order to win .

I may be old fashioned, however, I think sportsmanship and maturity is as important, if not more important, than winning...I hope Pierre realizes how disappointing and embarrassing his actions were last night...

Sound like Garcon is in NFL form right now.

purple...I was at the game but in the open stands and really couldn't tell what happened...thanks for the input. PG does have a chip on the shoulder which could cost us big. Time to make the plays and keep the trap shut.

Eleven penalties for 119 yards...ugh!

Let's all hope Pierre learned something last night.  On his behalf, when he got on the sideline he sat quietly on the bench.  He did not appear to wine or complain to his team mates, and seemed to realize he had screwed up.

It 's such a joy to watch him play.  And such a disappointment to watch some of his other antics.  I hope he can get his act together.

As to what happened - He must have stepped out of bounds just before cutting back toward the middle of the field.  As often happens in those situations play continued after the whistle.  Just as Pierre was slowing down and starting to relax an Ott. player delivered a pretty good hit.  Pierre reacted and as usual the second guy got caught.  None of that excuses what happened afterwords.
