Mount's back??  Didn't realize they went anywhere.  They are ridiculously good.

I do have some hope though...Otterbein scored 14 against MU's subs!!!

I wouldn't put too much stock into that statistic.  Mount's third string scored on Otterbein as much or more as they gave up.  Otterbein has a good team but Mount is loaded like I've never seen before in 30 years.  Kehres was giving the second and third string a lot of playing time, getting them ready for next year.

Wow, 4 OAC schools in the Top 12 for week three.

I dunno if I agree with BW over ONU, but I guess we'll wait and see. All three games for them next week are pushovers, though if ONU crushes Joh Carroll next week they may be back up to third in the oac.

In highschool ball it used to be that 2 personal fouls on the same player got an automatic ejection and disqualification from participating in the following game. Did college ball ever have such a rule? Maybe LK has his own rule to cover such a situation. We will find out nextweek. Pierres stats are a little off already. Not that he is in a slump or anything, but he needs to let his play do the speaking from here on out. I think Pierre is on the receiving end of way more cheap shots that he delivers.

It appears to me that teams/other players have learned how to get to Garcon.  From what i have observed this is not hard to do.  This will only get worse unless Garcon can recognize what they are attempting to do and control his temper.  His demeanor must match his talent.  Pro scouts look at all aspects of a player esp. in lesser divisions.

The actions described regarding Garcon are not surprising.  He's shown himself to be a personality that finds the spotlight for the right or wrong reasons equally in his time at MUC.  I don't think the question was "if" but rather "when" this would happen.  We've described Garcon as a Division I talent in Division III as well as a rather singular star player on one of the best "teams" at any level of collegiate athletics.  I have always thought of him as a bit of an experiement in Alliance as he's not the typical recruit and while he has proven to be a bit of a media darling in the past, he's not the typical Purple Raider by any means.  If Garcon doesn't get his act together and his head on straight he may be able to make it through the regular season but he might find himself in a similar situation when the game is on a bigger stage...and that could ultimately hurt his chances of moving on to somewhere big after his final collegiate game.  The bright side for Mount Union is that they could lose him and still fire off 50+ points with the team they've got this year.  If anyone can help him get his head straight it's that coaching staff...but IMO they've got their hands full with Pierre.

Purpled,
St. Cloud is St. Cloud State in of all places St. Cloud, MN. They are a Division II school who added WW to their schedule last winter. My understanding was a team canceled for both schools for yesterdays date. WW was supposed to play Drake but Drake pulled out. The new HC at WW came from a D II school that played against St. Cloud. The coaches knew each other and had the common open date and BINGO you have DII VS DIII.

Not a bad game and WW was a lot closer than the score indicated. They had a fumble and three interceptions and that accounted for I believe 16 easier points.
Not saying that WW would have won but they also had 1st and goal at the 1 and ended up missing a field goal when it was 4th and goal at the 5! Yikes! Their kicker put a 52 yarder through earlier and gets the 22 yarder blocked. WW was snake bit and every bounce went against them......including a nice defensive stop that had St Cloud punting from their own end zone. Ball gets out to about ST Clouds 45 and it bounces into a WW player and St Cloud recovers.....you guessed St Cloud takes the second chance on a drive for a TD.
Justin Beaver broke the WW and the WIAC career rushing records with 175 yds. approx. The transfer QB Danny Jones was OK but he had a lot of heat on him. Tended to toss the ball early and far. He also suffered with a group of receivers that had "Hands of stone disease". I was pulling for the WW win and they had a pretty good showing of fans.
It was a great day for a double header with St Johns at 1PM and then on to St Cloud about 10 minutes away. Time for a tailgate before, a bump inbetween and a nightcap later.

Just love football season.

On Pierre......"act like you have been there before......especially because you have!"
The pose is borderline and I am a little surprised he has not been flagged for it yet. I know it has a negative effect on how MUC is perceived simply because most people don't get why LK lets it continue.
Pierre should know by now that opponents are going to do everyting they think they can to get into his head and reacting to that crap will only cause it to increase. I do think there have been some occassions where he may have been hit late too and not gotten the call but that is something ya gotta deal with when you have different officials every week. His "pose" after a score may cause the ref to let him have it later in the game and not call the penalty.

He is the only player I can recall in recent times that gets the opposing fans stirred up with his antics. JMHO. ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I read some accurate posts about the Etta and BW game. I thought the Pios played better than they did against SJU, then again, BW is no SJU. Starting with the offense, the Pios did a better job running the ball. The stats don't show it but the Pios, if the playcalling allowed it, could have been more productive on the ground. I was worried that the Pios wouldn't get anything on the ground because of the way BW's defense played their first game. I definitely saw improvement in the running game. The passing game did not look too bad but 3 turnovers, including one for a TD, will kill a team like Marietta, no matter who they play that is any good. IMHO, the coaching staff need to continue to evaluate personnel and adjust the play calling according to their strengths. Trying to win games like they did last year with Vrable, is not going to work against the better teams.

My recipe, which is a popular recipe, for winning is good defense, good special teams, and an offense that does not turn the ball over. Against SJU, Etta was 0-3 and against BW, 1-3. I was impressed with the defense. They had 2 goal line stands and they kept the game close enough, if we had a productive offense, to win. The DB's still worry me because they are so small. Other than some nice tackles, they haven't been able to make any plays. Etta's offense is turning the ball over but the defense isn't forcing any. Special teams still need a lot of work. The personnel definitely need looked at here. The field goal kicker is wasting opportunites. Hardly anyone is blocking on returns and there are not enough head hunters on the kick off and punt teams.

Marietta has played 2 top 20 teams on the road and I hope they don't get too use to losing. I trust the coaches to get the players on the field that are winners. It is hard, however, to watch all state and all conference upperclass players from winning football programs standing on the sidelines. The coaches I'm sure have their reasons but it is tough to watch. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking sour grapes, Jr. is getting to play.

BW has a good team. They are big on the lines but a little slow. They have good team speed everywhere else. If they are a legitimate top 15 team, which I hope they are, then Marietta is not that bad. Again, IMHO, there is a considerable distance between SJU and BW, mostly overall team speed and QB play.

I had a great time tailgating with the Marietta faithful from Northern OH. I look forward to our first home game and how well the Pios will match up with the Otters.

did anyone get the final of the MUC JV game at Wooster...I could only stay for first half..muc 27 woo 9..

was a bit concerned by number of penalties in one half..( approximate)  .two blocks in back, two offsides, ineligible downfield, three personal fouls (ouch), and one unsportmanslike for doing a front flip into the endzone from the three yard line on a td pass reception...(disgusting showboating)

alumni should chip in to get JV's new uni's too....it appeared that nearly half of jerseys would not tuck in.......I thought we looked sloppy and undisciplined...

I must be way too old-fashioned...all this above stuff depresses me...

I think the Mt JV team scored one more td.  This was basically the freshman JV team that played Wooster.....and is sounds like they have a lot to learn about winning and discipline.  The other JV team (which is mostly 2nd/3rd teams) will travel to Ashland today for a 5:00 game vs. the D-II Eagles.

From my seat, Garcon has been asking for some "official" discipline for quite some time.  He throws a lot  of chippy late shots, offers plenty of unnecessary lip, and plays to the crowd...

This is a horrible thing for any program, especially Mount Union since people love to hate them anyway...His actions give opponents and fans a bad impression of MUC,  and plenty of ammunition to fire negatives at the program..

For all the talent that he has, Mount may be fortunate that his antics have not hurt them in an important contest...This incident may put officials in the conference on "Garcon watch", so I hope he has learned a lesson.
Would his actions  cause concerns for NFL scouts?

Maybe I am overreacting a bit. but I have been watching him get away with this borderline stuff ever since he came to Mount , and feel very strongly that this can be a very accurate reflection of character...

We (the Mounties in the seats) are proud of our kids because of the hard, fair, and classy way they play the game...Garcon has given the entire league an excuse to talk about the Raiders, their lack of discipline, and the fact that they will put up with him in order to win .

I may be old fashioned, however, I think sportsmanship and maturity is as important, if not more important, than winning...I hope Pierre realizes how disappointing and embarrassing his actions were last night...

I don't think the NFL is going to care one way or the other about Garcon doing some showboating, Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens do plenty of that and might get a fine or two but the NFL is a business and fans pay to see that stuff, highlights, exposure all equals money.  This is in no means an excuse or condoning the behavior just an opinion.

I think the NFL is more concerned with off the field things. I don't know of any for Pierre, and I'm not claiming any knowledge of that, but if he has a clean record and continues to put up good numbers (knowing every defense he plays against is going to do all in its power to stop him) he could still get an invite to the NFL combine regardless of getting ejected from a game after a late hit.

Mount has a All-American running back in Kmic.  Most would say hes the best in D3, yet he is only getting the ball in the backfield about 10 times a game.  Any team other than Mount would be giving it to him thirty times a game.  Just shows how much talent their offense has.

His carries will go up as thier competition increases. Averett and Otterbein are not the Mount's top competition this season, come ONU, BW, Cap, and JC he should get the ball more, not to mention the play-offs.

It all starts up front and Mount has a fantastic O-line year in and year out as good as Kmic is, I think more credit should go to his hogs.  He gets into the secondary untouched so often...yikes.

Yeah.  I'll have to look for it.  But I'm sure it's around here somewhere..........
