Here's this week's friendly reminder to post your picks if you haven't done so already.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

hscoach: Ott and Etta looked close in the pickems, what were their percentages? I wasn't upset over the St. Cloud St. win, I picked them. I'm curious why you picked Ott to win. The stats were close but I believe the edge goes to Etta on the defensive side. I know we have our differences but I do appreciate all the hard work you put into the pickems. Ric must not have read, not impressed, or he is still ticked at me but I thought my Ott vs. Etta preview was right up his alley.  ;D

Presto

looking forward to another oac weekend one game at a time jackets.

If Ott beats Etta or vica versa.........and no one (other than kcreds) on the OAC board cares........is it really a win?

However.......since there IS so much $$ riding on the Pic-ems contest.........GO OTT!  (or Etta.....I can't remember who I picked)   ;D ;D

Marietta 65% over Otterbein 35%.  Etta is the favorite simply because they're at home.

Why did I pick Otterbein?  Just a gut feeling based on what the Otters showed against MUC.  Yes, MUC scored at will, but very few of the TD's where uncontested like they were against Averett.  I thought they played much harder this year than they did last year.  I don't know what to make of Etta yet since I haven't seen them.  So I went with Otterbein.  Honestly I expect this game to be about as even a matchup in the OAC as you'll see this year outside of BW-ONU.  A couple plays one way or the other could decide it.

And don't take the questioning or differing of opinions personal.  Lord knows we'll probably be on the same side of an arguement if you hang around here long enough.

D3 Poster

 ;)

Nice representation in the D3 top 25 this week with #1, 10, 11 & 12.  I assume this will be our conference's zenith as this week, the ranked guys start playing each other.

I still think the voters could have shown JC a little more love to get them in the top 25.  I think the kick-off had them 28th and BW 29th in the preseason.

Hey Skunks, I care about the Pio and Otterbein game.  But, I don't care if the Raiders win by 61 or 62 (as long as it's at least 61) or if the first team plays into the second quarter.  Come to think of it, that might be a good stat to keep this year.  How long can each opponent keep Mount's first teamers on the field.

skunk: I smell something funny. I'm sure your post was a joke designed to get a rise out of me. Due to it being a slow day at work, I'll bite the bait and respond. If your post was serious, you must not have played sports or was any good because if you did, you couldn't make a statement like that. Obviously you don't speak for everyone on here.  ;D

hscoach: Thanks for the opinion and the percentages, I thought it was closer than that.

reality check

ONU/JCU

I hope it's a good game.  These teams have both started pretty strong.  ONU's offense is a little more dynamic this year with Meadows and crew running strong but the budding Pankratz to Delk connections is promising.  Looks like Pankratz will be giving way to Simmons at QB for a series or two each game like our QB's did last year and given the early showing of Simmons, I have no problem with it.

ONU stopping the JCU passing game and the Streaks' ability to stop the run without overloading the box will be the difference in this game in my estimation.  If the Streaks need to bring an extra defender in close, the Bears passing game is good enough this year to make them pay.  Bevington's proving to be a beast on the Streaks d-line early on but I think he will be tested and deterred by Michael Hunter and crew.

Look out for a punt return for TD this weekend for my Bears; my magic 8-ball is feeling hot.

Here you go reality check.

darn it...I asked if Mount Union would suck the rest of this year...and it answered No Way!

You heard it here folks there is no way Mount will suck this year.  ;)

I don't believe it, the perfect example of what I wanted to say to skunk. He wasn't a Chiefs coach then, but I'm glad he is now. This was just posted today on the NCAC board.

kcreds.....OF COURSE it was meant as a light-hearted joke.   ???

I guess I really was observing that two winless teams playing in the OAC who won't be in contention for the championship/winning record/etc...wouldn't attract much interest other than from a current student, a parent, or an alum.

Hey I coach the younger brother of a current freshman PIO in PeeWee.....so GO PIONEERS!  (Unless I took OTT in the pic-ems)

skunks_sidekick

Ok..just checked the pic-ems page.......GO PIONEERS!   ;D

Skunk: I'm a little slow and I have a hard time figuring out who is joking and who isn't. Thanks for the clarification. Another thing I have a hard time with is the concept of a team not in contention early in a season with one conference loss. I don't count anyone out until their eliminated. I know I live in a fantasy world, especially in the OAC. When your team is not MU, you should believe you got a chance even with 1 loss in the conference. I'm sure its hard for a MU fan to understand that because they haven't been in that position for a long time. However, it is a position I have been in, outside the OAC, at every level and conference as a fan and on some level a player and coach. Unlike one posters opinion, I think a bottom tiered team will be a spoiler and beat an upper tiered team to knock them out of contention. The rest of the OAC should and probably will understand that. Whoever wins this game between Etta and Ott, supposedly bottom tiered teams, may be the team to spoil someone else's dreams. History does tell us that. Thanks skunk for the support and I hope the Pios win for you too. Goooooo Pioneers!
