What is your problem Pat? Don't put words in my mouth. I haven't one time commented about my team being a great team but I just give them a chance in any game. I get bombarded because I even gave my team a chance. I admit their mistakes and this past game I was honest about how they looked. I get bombarded. Ric states in a past post that Marietta is bad and I won't say I told you so later. What happens is he does and yes you guessed it, I get bombarded. I don't wear rose colored glasses but I support and believe in my team.  I will continue to do that. I have over and over stated I appreciate what Pat does for this site and hscoach's dedication to the pickems. What do I get, Pat puts words in my mouth stating something along the lines that I don't appreciate anyone if they weren't an athlete, completely false.

No offense, but when you go down the "did you ever play the game?" route, this is where the logical conclusion is.

You don't have to have played football to be a fan, to talk about it, to have an opinion and to have an INFORMED opinion. When you play that card and want to exclude non-football players, people lose respect for you.

I watched BW play Wilma on the tube this afternoon.   BW has some speed esp. one small back and they play good team defense.  However, all their coach did was yell and scream and pace .  He was visiblly upset and let them have  it on the sidelines as the game was being played.  This was quite evident even on the tube.  what a jerk.  I guess he is really going to be upset when he comes to A town.  Mickey Mantle did not have a good game  or wilma is terrific on defense.  Lets hope BW brings their A game to Mt. or this will be over by half.  Oh Kcreds I did play football and only wish that  I knew half as much as Ric about the game esp. the OAC.  Its OK to be a cheerleader for your team but since we now have logical thought on this board,  you should use it.  If that isn't possible, then talk about the Browns.

I miss Doeder.

No love for me Reality? I guess I must not have made a very big impact on this board last year. J/k

I think your -66 in 49 posts speaks for itself.  You made a fast a furious impact blind_side.  But you were never traded from your school like doeder was.

...... I loved playing the game, coaching it......

Coaching?  That's scary thought.

RC:  I never thought I'd miss Doeder either, but you're right.  Can we send kcreds back to the minors?

Bushman I appreciate the comment, thank you!  And speaking of the Browns I felt really bad today.  As I watched them line up for the potential game winning field goal and sat with my son who really wanted them to win and was disappointed in the loss I saw myself when I was his age.  12 years ago I would have been on the edge of my seat and had white knuckles during the last couple of minutes.  Today I was somehow on the inside not even caring if they lost because I know the quickest way to being a good team again begins with getting rid of that terrible head coach.  How many bad personnel decisions does he have to make? They fired the offensive coordinator early in the season, the guy he hired in the offseason.  This year they traded the starting QB after one week that he had argued for seven months was his guy.  I don't buy into him being in a bad situation one bit.  He has taken a bad situation and made it worse by the game.  How sad is it that I have to hope my beloved Browns lose just enough this year to get rid of that guy?

Ric

PS:  I think they should have a coin flip.  Heads Romeo gets fired tomorrow and tails he gets to finish the year.

Provided we take care of business next week, the OAC should have 4 of the top 10 teams in the country in the d3football.com poll.  With the WIAC showdown, someone has to lose and will likely drop below the trio of CAP, BW and ONU.  JCU/BW is always a tough contest and ONU/OTT does make me a little nervous since it's on the Cardinals' home turf but it will be very cool if everyone gets out unscathed so we might have 40% of the top ten for a week.

I don't think that's necessarily true. If UWL beats UWW I think both stay above the trio.

RC not to worry.  The otterbien defense that I observed for 4 quarters will not be able to stop your star back.  If ONU puts a pass rush on their QB you should prevail.    They are not a very good FB team.  RIC  who was number 9[ the QB] who ran the offense in the 3 quarter for Mt.?   I liked the way this kid handles himself.  Reminds me of a young carson palmer.

RC:  Otterbein is bad.  Period.  If the Bears struggle at the line of scrimmage against the Otters, then you can forget about next week.

Is it October 6th yet?

I taught Jr. and my players that adversity can make you stronger or weaker. He is facing some adversity and he is getting stronger in character. I realized I was facing some adversity, on a much smaller scale, and realized I was becoming weaker in character. I cannot allow that to happen.

Thanks for the supportive emails, they really did mean a lot.

While listening to Mike & Mike in the morning, a great concept in sports reporting, it reminded me about how much I like to talk sports so that is what I'm going to do for now on.

BW at JC: Etta has played their best game against BW and I'm not sold on them yet. BW's defense is good but offensively can they get the job done against JC? Based on what little I know I too believe this will be a great game.

ONU at OTT: I was very impressed with OTT's passing game. If ONU has a good defensive backfield then they should be okay. OTT's D needs some work. If ONU shuts down their passing game, I like ONU. If OTT's D shows up and their passing game is on, I'll give OTT a chance.

Capital at Etta will be ugly. I just hope Etta finds themselves sometime this year or they will struggle to win a game. They may stand more of a chance against a running team. A chance of keeping the score closer. Etta's d-backs are athletic but small and they get burnt. Offensively, they need to take care of the ball. The turnover ratio is horrible. You cannot be competitive without playing good D and turning the ball over.

congrats to MUC back-up kicker and a 47 yard field goal.. he just hammered it...then he misses a shortie later...

Been watching Mount since '76 and think this is the best team ever...so many weapons, speed, strength....hope they keep their heads about them.

Ref the BW coach...A couple years ago I attended a JV game on the concrete in Berea and Coach Snell was standing on the landing at the ticket entrance.  I struck up a conversation and found  him to be very friendly, open to discussion about his program and overall gave me a very positive opinion as to his character and class... I think coaches should get a bit of a pass on the sidelines, after all, they are the ones who get paid to worry and gripe...
