Are you counting neutral site games in Salem as road games?

The 63 number comes from a Mount press release -- also posted on our site.

Very impressed with Cap's defense and kicker.

Offensively, they really need the Assman.  If he'd gone out earlier with the injury, it may have been a 0-0 game.  Didn't get to see enough of Blake to form an opinion on him, but they missed Alexander.  Running game needs help too, 98 yards rushing and 40 of that came on the final drive against subs.

Much better effort by the Pioneer defense, but two of the tds had wide, wide open receivers...nice catch by Cap TE on one of them.  Offense, too many....fumbles, ints and dropped passes to compete against a good defense.

Hoping for a complete game against the Muskies.

Nope.  If you include Salem games in the mix the number goes down to 19 road victories (loss in the 2003 Stagg Bowl to STJ).

Someone's wrong.  I thought it would be me but it's not that hard to count back on mtunionfootball.com.

Current streaks:

27 straight wins (last loss 2005 vs. ONU)
19 straight wins on the road including playoff games (last loss 2003 Stagg Bowl vs. St Johns)
81 straight regular season road wins (last loss 1991 @ BW)
73 straight regular season OAC road wins (last loss 1991 @ BW)
19 straight season openers (last loss 1987 vs. Wooster)

And a little harder to research... 20 consecutive wins against non-conference regular season opponents dating back to a loss vs. Denison in 1989.  10 consecutive road wins against non-confernece regular season opponents dating back to a loss @ Denison in 1988.  Seems like MUC has some unfinished business with the Big Red.

A neutral game is not a road game, though.

I missed the LAX game in 1996 in the playoffs (W) and the loss to Albion in the 1994 playoffs.  That does indeed make the press release accurate at 63 games.  My bad.  I was in fact wrong.

I didn't think the Staggs counted as away games either but they are technically on the road since MUC has to travel to them right?!?  right?!?   ;)

With this error in mind, the following are still true:

27 straight wins (last loss 2005 vs. ONU)
19 straight wins away from Alliance (last loss 2003 Stagg Bowl vs. St Johns)
81 straight regular season road wins (last loss 1991 @ BW)
73 straight regular season OAC road wins (last loss 1991 @ BW)
19 straight season openers (last loss 1987 vs. Wooster)
20 straight regular season non-conference wins (last loss 1989 @ Denison)
10 straight regular season non-conference road wins (last loss 1988 @ Denison)

I admit I was wrong and missed a road win in the playoffs making the 63 number right on.  That doesn't change the impressiveness of all the other current streaks.

Yeah I'm a nerd.  You'd think with all the time I'm devoting to coaching/breaking down film/scouting/etc., I'd want a break but I get home and hop on d3football.com or onusports.com or oac.org, etc. and waste a lot of my off-time.  The wife loves it.

Nerd?  Maybe.  But what's perfectly clear from all your hard work is that you're really a MUC fan!  Come on, be honest.  All the years of Polar Bear talk was just a smoke screen.

Here's hope for the rest of the OAC, though.  Mount is being outscored in the fourth quarter...14-6.  Keep it close, and you can finish them off.   :P

May there be some truth to that?  Hold the Mahoning River Raiders scoreless into the fourth quarter and the starters may wilt.  They are "Saturday conditioned" for just two quarters.    ;)

Didn't have time to post during the weekend, but GREAT win by the Streaks against BW.  Congrats to those guys!!  I think that the battle for second place is going to become increasingly fun to watch.  (No offense, MUCers, but "How many points will Mount win by this week?" will be much more entertaining in the playoffs.)

Finally a game this week to see what Mount has and what ONU has.

I think we know what Mount has...

reality check

Well we didn't get 4 teams in the top 10 because of the JCU win over BW but we have 5 teams in the top 25 with JCU coming in at 24 this week.

Congrats to the OAC on a great showing 5 weeks into the season.

Congrats to JCU.  The OAC is becoming more like the WIAC every year.

We know what Mount has...too much talent.  You want to stuff the run?  That's fine, they'll throw it over the top (and Kmic would probably still get 4 yards a carry).  You want to protect against the deep ball with Garcon?  That's fine too, Kmic will run, and they can throw to any number of guys underneath (and Garcon will probably still get a big gainer on you).  I think that we can truly say this team is scary good.

Is Mount beating up some bad teams, yes...absolutely, but it's not just beating them...it's completely dominating every phase of the game.
