HScoach

I hope MUC/ONU is played at full strength because the last 2 have been affected by injuries to Garcon (2005) and Gunter (2006).  Which is the individual match-up I'm most curious to see.

On in injury front, I heard thru the grapevine that Assman might be done for the year due to a torn ACL.  Anyone closer to the program that can confirm/refute that?  Hope I heard wrong.

If that's true it's a huge blow to the Capital program in their quest to remain amongst the OAC elite.  I know they're going to be good with or without him and their defense is just plain sick, but it's going to be awfully hard to win versus with  JCU, ONU, MUC and BW with a back-up QB.

Since everyone is giving their crazy predictions for Saturday, I'll jump in too:
MUC 34
ONU 13

MUC covers by 0.5!  You can take that one to the bank ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Since nearly all are predicting a comfortable MUC win, maybe the better question is how many of ONU's points do y'all think will be scored against Mount's starting defense.  Personally,  I think ONU's defense may be able to keep it respectable, but I don't know that their offense can come up with enough plays to keep it close.

Pat,
Do you know if Salem made the change to the stadium turf to the new sports turf they had plans to do for this year? WOuld think the stadium will really look nice with the change and can only imagine how high Pierre will fly to reach the end zone now!  ;D

They forgot to put the Raider logo in the center of the field. :o
12-0 = 13

Genius Gone Bad

I have a hard time seeing Mount walking into Ada and blowing out ONU .  I think this game will be alot closer then you think. Mount has a great team this year and sadly the scariest team I've seen in awhile from Mount. ONU does have a revenge factor after being manhandled in Alliance last year. The Polar Bear in me makes this prediction:

ONU 24
MUC 21

Let's go Bears
Genius Gone Bad

Toph

Mount: 45
ONU: 14

Sorry, Bears.

reality check

I'm not making a score prediction due to the fact that I'm leading the way on the short bus this year in pick 'em's.  No wait.  That being said, I know my prediction will be so far off base it will never happen.  So...

MUC 36
ONU 16

(Finally getting the best of hscoach and his damned spreads)

Again, I'm picking Mount to win because my guesstimations so far this year have been so far off base that I am doing justice to my alma mater in picking against it.  I have the touch of death this year!

And I've been telling everyone else I can so I'm sharing here too.  My kids won last night 10-7 in an amazing game.  We punted a ball inside our opponents 5 yards line and three downs later we sacked the QB for a safety.  It was 2-0 at the half as we could move the ball well offensively but just couldn't find our way into the red zone all game.  We made a costly mistake and turned the ball over on our 35 with 8:30 left in the game.  The opposition put a small drive together and scored the go-ahead TD with 7:40 left putting them up 7-2.  Our program's historical M.O. has been that they play their hearts out but fold when they face adversity.  I feared that they would roll over after fighting so hard for most of the game.  To my surprise and elation, our kids put together a 16 play (2 seperate 4th down conversions), 71 yard drive that took 6:59  off the clock and ended with a 14 yard TD pass to our TE.  We converted the 2-point, kicked off, stripped the returner and took a knee for the win.  I played in some great games at the high school and collegiate level personally but I have a new favorite game that I'll never forget.  I am so proud of my boys right now.

Now back to your regular D-III programming...
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Sounds like everyone had a lot of fun (especially you).  No matter what else happens that is what really matters.

It's a shame the field in Salem is not ready for play...I don't see the Mount Union logo anywhere  ;)

Score predictions for MUC & ONU???

I will say ONU 17, MUC 52

Even though I think Mount will win and it shouldn't be a nail bitter at the end, I would be shocked if the score was anything like this.

I did not mean to offend anyone with the large spread but we've yet to witness Mount putting the gas pedal down on anyone.  I mean seriously.  ONU is a very good team by all reports but Mount's starters have been able to coast until now.  Let's see what the starters can do for 4 full quarters of aggressive playcalling on both sides of the ball and on special teams.

reality check

I just hope the starters on both sides are playing until the final whistle.  If this is the case, no matter who wins, everyone will have seen the best game given to Mount in this young season.  I wish I could be there.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Presto

shouldn't they first put a logo on their own field?  last i was there they hadn't.

ONUBearbacker

Having been to every game, I will say this with as much bias as any ONU parent, ONU's defense will keep them in the game.

My biggest concern is ONU's offense. Meadows is a very good RB, but the first year they played MU, he was a relatively unknown freshman. Meadows is now well known in the OAC and MU will focus on shutting him down. ONU's offense has struggled against even mediocre defenses, so as much as I pray for a miracle, I don't see ONU's offense beating MU's defense.

I am certain it will not be a blow out as some have predicted. I do wish Dean Paul would consider the freshman QB. He has shown poise beyond his years, and Pankratz has not shown enough reason to keep him at the helm.

Much to my chagrin, I predict:
MU -  35
ONU -17

:-\
One game at a time!!!
