anyone go to the JCU/ Cap tilt? Was watching the score on the board at ONU and seems as though the game was close through halftime then the bottom dropped out on JCU? Was Assman out or playing? anyone got a quick recap, would be interesting to know how the game was.

Mount's domination on both sides of the ball continue to improve each week it seems, and even when not everyone is hitting on all cylinders. ONU's O & D lines were huge, biggest i believe Mount has had to play this season yet, but the defense found ways to keep Pankratz(sp) running from the pocket or making hurried passes the whole day. To his defense i believe he done the best he could do under the circumstances. I can remember at least a half dozen times his receivers dropped passes that were right in their hands, in the flats, on slants, and down and outs. The Qb can't take all the heat when drops are killing drives, let alone the Mount secondary breaking down passing routes and picking up reads all over, and keeping a Qb checking off his first 2-3 looks.
Great job Raiders!  ROLL ON!!

Score predictions for MUC & ONU???

I will say ONU 17, MUC 52

Even though I think Mount will win and it shouldn't be a nail bitter at the end, I would be shocked if the score was anything like this.

I did not mean to offend anyone with the large spread but we've yet to witness Mount putting the gas pedal down on anyone.  I mean seriously.  ONU is a very good team by all reports but Mount's starters have been able to coast until now.  Let's see what the starters can do for 4 full quarters of aggressive playcalling on both sides of the ball and on special teams.

Hey...looks like I called the spread the closest!

Are you going to the Cap game this year?
I wasnt too far off on the Mount side of the board, the safety screwed me up, lol. I was shocked that at least late in the game that ONU didnt reach some pay dirt but Mount's D did have more first team defensive play than in past weeks. I think the closest the Polar Bears got to the end zone was during the few water breaks the officials gave out!  ;D or trying to cover the ball on the safety, OOps wrong end zone! :o I will say, the atmosphere with the Dial-Roberson stadium and the ONU people themselves, made it a wonder day! The ONU crowd, got into it a few times, but the MOunt D squelched most the momentum they tried to achieve. ONU should be proud of the program they are building back up, they'll have plenty to look forward to building the way they are now.

Hallett Coach of Year....now

ONU receivers dropped numerous good tosses from Pankratz, that would have helped...at least a little
Meadows is a very good runner when given what passes for a hole...I think he made some great moves just to get a few yards....

speed kills....

Kostelnik is unbelievable...

Buckeyes deserved a shutout...I think Penn State will get them at Happy Valley...

Adam Sayer

Congratulations to Coach Hallet. He and Dean Paul recruited me when they were at Thomas More and I almost came (If Hallet had been the HC at the time, I probably would have). Coach Hallet is a great guy and a helluva coach. Players like playing for him and hopefully he can put out another competitive OAC team in the near future. Congratulations again.

And someone posted that MUC is 'officially' a Juggernaut. Thanks for the newsflash :)

What a defense...ONU at minus 9 yards rushing.

Mount has turned the regular season into ten meaningless scrimmages!

What's the rest of the OAC to do?

How about we allow transfers from MUC to other OAC schools to play right away?

Since the Raiders get an extra season every two years, how about we allow OAC schools to continue practicing as long as MUC is in the playoffs?

Allow all other schools to have five years of eligibility?

Discontinue spring practice for conference champion?

HELP.

Great win for the Princes.  Burger out for BW?

Cap with some offense surprised me.  JCU sounded banged up?  Game injuries or

Ott's senior QB out?

Muskies two games down to the wire...hang in there.  Etta QB no ints!!

Mount...wow.

ROME(AP)  Pope Benedict XVI has dispatched Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone to Tiffin,Ohio to investigate claims of a miracle. The alleged event occurred Saturday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium on the campus of Heidelberg College in Tiffin,in the presence of many witnesses.Cardinal Bertone is the Vatican's secretary of state and has undertaken several sensitive diplomatic missions in this his first year in office. In an interview with the Italian Catholic newspaper Avvenire Cardinal Bertone was asked bluntly if the defeat of the Baldwin College football team by Heideberg was a miracle? The cardinal responded by pointing out he had only just begun his inquiry. "We shall see," he said.

I attended the MUC /ONU game and was surprised to see the Polarbears decked out in their all black uniforms. Given the heat and humidity I suffered just watching the game, it had to be oppressive for ONU players to compete in those dark uniforms. I would have chosen the light colors and made MUC suffer the excess temperatures. ONU also had a few dropped passes that I believe were the result of misplaying the sun. One receiver was unguarded on one play and could have skipped to the end zone, but he didnt catch it first! :o

I thought the ONU band outplayed their team. That was probably the best D3 band Ive seen so far! They were awesome.

Was at the ONU - Mt. Union butt kicking ...

I have to agree with l39eagle's comments about the running backs. To say that RJ Meadows is not as talented as three running backs at MUC reminds me of the silly comments on this Board about Stickley being better than Jason Trusnik. Duh ... Trusnik happens to be cashing NFL paychecks this year!   :o

There is no way to describe how thoroughly Mt. Union's offensive line dominated the defensive line of ONU. MUC's offensive lineman are big, fast and play to the whistle. They deal out punishment until the end of the whistle - just as O linemen should. There was no safety around any pile - a flying MUC O lineman was always present.

And MUC's defense is exceptional. The inside tackles are strong enough to clog the middle and the defensive ends fast and strong enough to ensure there is no room to run wide. It is hard for me to envision many DIII teams scoring on that defense.

The MUC running backs are outstanding. They are fast (Wray), quick (Morring) and Kmic is fast, quick and also very physically strong - but let's be serious here - they are running behind a line that would appear capable of competing at far higher levels than DIII.

But put that aside, Mt. Union is the best coached, the best prepared, fastest, deepest, most physicial team I have ever seen at the DIII level. In addition, with only small exceptions (mainly Morring), they showed total class and character while destroying a top #10 team on the road in front of 5,000+ hostile fans - without Garcon on the field save for a single punt block attempt. Now that might be what is most impressive!

To this, I offer my congratulations not just to the players and coaches, but also to the parents of the MUC players. They deserve some of the credit for the quality of those young men. Congratulations MUC parents!

I'll leave you with one final thought ... ONU completely destroyed Millikin. The game was 42-0 and ONU punished Millikin physically (similar to what MUC did to ONU yesterday). Wheaton (rated #5 nationally) beat Millikin a couple weeks later by 29-7 in a game that some Millikin fans thought was even closer than the score. Mt. Union will not only win the Stagg Bowl, this might be the best DIII team any of us will see for a long, long time. The only question, in my mind, is just how the history books will end up ranking this team - they are already #1 in mine.

I have been going to MUC games since 1977.  No team comes close to their talent, size, speed and depth.  (1997 would be the closest).  From what I am seeing in DIII, only Mary Hardin Baylor would be able to give Mount a real game.  Does anyone know that much about MHB?

bushman

The last time I saw MHB was at Mt. for a playoff game .  Their defensive front looked like the Browns.

I believe one of their starters was suspended for that game, as well. :)

Speaking of bands. It's a shame that Cap doesn't have a MARCHING BAND, not a pep band since they have such a big conservatory of music.

What are the thoughts on the CAP/ONU game this week? Back-up QB and a great defense should make for an interesting one.
