OU#25 here...
I will be at the game on Saturday patrolling the sidelines with camera in hand.  Look for a guy in a tan photographer's jacket and say hello!

Micheli has enough arm strength to open up the game and with our running game it makes passing a little easier. I think Cap's biggest concern is...how do we score against Mount's D? CU is banged up on O and it will show on Saturday as MUC's D will smother them.

ESPN must have felt bad about Easterbrook.  Here's a pretty nice article about Mount Union from their wire.  It's not one of their own, but at least they linked to the AP.

Thanks, jay.  Great story.

That article actually came from "The Sporting News."

A wonderful article no matter where it came from.

Hope to see some of you "on the Heights" at JCU next week if the HS playoff schedule allows.

This is kind of a dream match-up especially out of the playoff format. Last years game I believe was 10-7 in the rain in Texas.

Actually 7-3, and dry as a bone. But yeah, great game.

I would just add that UWW's 7 points came from special teams when #1 took the opening kick-off to the house.  A defensive struggle of massive proportions!    I have been nervous about a re-match ever since!  ;)

I think you're right on with this question.  It's been mentioned a couple of times over the season, but I think that opposing teams need to be more concerned with scoring against Mount Union's defense than they do in stopping the offense.  Granted, the offense hasn't played full games yet, but their totals don't seem to be incredibly higher than in past years.  The defense, though, seems like it is a bear to play against.  I think it's much easier to put together a top-notch gameplan that derails an offense than it is to put together a scheme that opens up a defense.  Does anybody see a crack in the defense?

Unfortunately yes--but only when some of the bigger linemen bend over! ;D ;D

Actually...the two possible revenge games would be against MHB and the SJU gang.  Those are the last two losses in the play-offs for Mount.

The team that LK would like to pummel shall remain nameless until such time that the game happens.   ;)

As Dusty says...............developing!

I think it's probably safe to say that whoever wins this weekend's game between UWW and MHB will be seeded in the playoffs to only meet MUC in the Stagg.  I also wouldn't be too surprised to see them get a handful of first place votes.  If it's MHB, then that could well set up a scenario with SJU coming back to Alliance.  But, if it's UWW, then the only chance for MUC to play SJU would be in the Stagg, with SJU having gone through Whitewater, WI and pulling off a minor upset.  If that happens, could we see MHB make a return trip to Alliance?

I think the biggest hurdle for MUC would be for them to face MHB in the Stagg.  Even though Mount would have the revenge factor on their side, MHB would have  1) the confidence of already having beaten Mount before, 2) a desire to finish what they didn't accomplish a few years ago when they lost in the Stagg, and 3) the experience of already having beaten the number 3 team in the country.  That would be a heck of a matchup.

My personal opinion is that it's most likely to shake out that MUC and MHB meet in the Stagg.  But, I'm getting ahead of myself here.  All these teams have a lot to finish before the regular season wraps up, and a bumpy road through the post-season.

"The team that LK would like to pummel??"....the suspense is giving me the "willies"....
If not SJU or MHB, I have not clue...

SJU?      Just to beat John....(does John REALLY still coach?)
MHB?     Payback
Rowan?  Not since KC left
E&H?      Would he do that to Monty?
Coe?       Never to his nephew
Linfield?  Don't know why
Witt?       old nemesis in playing days
Wabash?    fans are so supportive they p**s everyone off
Wheaton ?  no, he pummels them now, plus I believe he really likes the HC there, a class man.
W and J ?    he pummels them in a scrimmage every year...but might like it on the record
Trinity?       They were one of the more arrogant teams we have played, many of their parents were the
                   uppity-est ever
La Crosse?    They have handed the Raiders their heads a couple times
ST John Fish?  not enough to go on yet...
Wooster?       because they won't schedule Mount

He will never schedule them, but I am getting tired of Walsh and Malone calling us chicken...

dale:

Didn't realize (or obviously missed any previous mention here) that you had moved back to Ohio.  Good to see you posting again.  Hope all is well with you and your family.  I admire your enthusiasm for your alma mater and, probably moreso, because I am the same way about Hope (as you know).  However, I think skunks_sidekick is right i.e pretty realistic.  As much as I'd like to see for Hope exactly what you desire, envision and enthusiastically promote for your MUC, unfortunately, it's probably never going to happen.  As skunks mentioned, there are too many other interests that other people have (including non-fb who wouldn't even consider attending even one game just for once -which is sad IMO - heck, even us die-hard fb-ers have attended theatre, concerts, etc., etc. to experience something different in our society).  Yet, even some of the better teams at other levels (i.e. Grand Valley to name one) aren't drawing the attendance figures that they should (again in our opinion).   Overall, college football attendance in most of the divisions (except at specific schools such as some of the "big-time" places, Mich, Ohio State, USC, etc., etc.) has declined in recent years as I recall (dont quote me on that please as I don't have my copy of the NCAA Football annual right at my access presently).

College football, particularly small college football, IMO, is one of the greatest entities that anyone could experience for a ton of reasons as we all know (whether one is a former player, coach, or just plain fan), yet as has been stated much more eloquent that I can, to most people, it doesn't matter.  There are just other "important" things in life to them.  All that being said, I do admire and think that you showing and sharing with your son all that is great about it and your past experiences is a wonderful thing.  We did that with my family (as you know) and we still enjoy it immensly today.  Bottom line is I guess that old saying still holds for many aspects in life. . . "to each his own".  My apologies also to everyone here for my rambling on regarding this topic, however, just thought I would offer/share my comments with the others who have done so. ;)
