hscoach-

Did I miss something?  What is this in response to?

HS Coach. Just for the record, I think that statement about Tony D came from Tdubs not Toph.

Oops.  You're right.  Sorry Toph ;)

I'll make you a deal...you get LK to take it easy on the Streaks...we pretend like this never happened!!

I was at the Mount JV game on Sunday in Cincinnati.....really felt sorry for the boys that made the 5 hour bus ride to play.  I'm sure the return trip took forever!  The Harmony team was definately not the caliber of the one that came to MUC last year.  Last year, they had 5-6 kids that were Division-1 athletes.....especially the WR that ended up at Louisville (Chichester?).  The QB this year is about 6'7" and threw the ball fairly effortlessly for 55-60 yards.  He had a couple of "Hail Marys" at the end of the half that went that far.  However, the quality of their other players was not as good as last year.  That being said, Mount JV's dominated on both sides of the ball.  The QB from Roger Bacon had a good game, and the defense was able to avoid the big plays (with the exception of kickoff returns).  Mount's offensive/defensive lines dominated the LOS.  There were several sophomores from Mount that played--I'm sure the coaches didn't want a repeat performance from 2006.  My opinion is that the Ashland and W/J games were a bigger test for the Mount JV's this year.

Changed jobs.  Went from working at home to teaching 7th Grade Science.  Not as much time to surf the net and post on PP.

Ain't as easy as it looks, is it.  8)

Having a wife who is in her 11th year of teaching, I knew it wouldn't be easy.  I didn't anticipate the rudeness from these middle schoolers though.  If I talked like they do when I was in school, my butt would have been whupped.

kirasdad:

I know exactly what you mean.  My wife having previous taught elementary school children, I saw that first hand.  Now we are seeing it as our oldest daughter who just graduated from college last spring, is teaching 2nd grade and there are some pretty rude and just simply "out of control" tykes.  She's had a couple of tough situations to handle (I mean some real bad situations), however, fortunately in these particular cases, the parents are supportive of her, which as you know is not always or usually not the case.    It's really sad, but unfortunately, that is today's society.

At any rate, I know you'll handle it, but hope otherwise that you are enjoying getting back into the teaching experience.  We need good ethical teachers such as yourself to "re-educate" and show the way, set by example for today's youngsters.  I wish you all the best this year in teaching.

I wonder who "schools" these kids at home?

I dont teach, but my neice has a second grade class in southern Ohio. She has had her life threatened twice this year so far. By her students, no less! She claims they were dead serious too! I wonder what colleges these kids will play for someday? ::)

Oh, and Massillon is taking apps again for head coaches. Any takers?

What happened to the current coach (from Ashland U right?)?  Did he resign or get fired?

As of right now, yes, I'm planning on going to the game...at least for awhile.  It's been too long since I went to a JCU game and saw some of my friends who are still there.

Stacey's contract is up this year.  There is speculation on whether he will stay or go.  Check out IndeOnline.com today for the latest article.

If he was smart....he would get out of that cesspool.  From all indications he is a good guy.

I will take a few of the "W" teams in our place, especially one in particular.   ;D

I don't remember this being covered here:

Mount Union College senior Eric Safran (Sagamore Hills/Broadview Heights), a 6-3/290 pound All-American center on the Purple Raider football team, is one of only 15 players nationwide to earn the 2007 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) National Scholar-Athlete Post Graduate Scholarship.

Congrats to Eric and the coaching staff at MUC!
Great job, Eric!  :D  Here's a link to the article. I read about it at my son's college website as well.  I imagine every school on the list has reported the list of 15 players in their school's media.  Eric and Mount Union are getting some positive national attention.

Presto

bw and ott should be a good late season test for both teams. both are 5-3 going in and both have played well with big wins the last couple of weeks. with mount union and lately capital battleing for playoff berths each year a good matchup like this one gets missed.

Presto

How does Safran's academic award fit into the whole NCAC superiority thing? ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

For those of you that are too lazy to toggle over to the NFF site, here's Eric's bio:

Congrats!

ERIC SAFRAN
Center, Mount Union College (Ohio)
Recipient of the William Pearce/Joseph V. Paterno National Scholar-Athlete Award
Funded by William A. Schreyer

The anchor of an offensive line in one the nation's most dominant football programs in history, Eric Safran's leadership has led to numerous accolades on and off the field, highlighted by back-to-back Division III National Championship titles for Mount Union College.

Carrying a Business Administration major, with minors in Mathematics and Economics, Safran is a member of the Tau Pi Phi and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Fraternities. Named to the First Team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA All-Academic Team in 2006, he also earned recognition as an All-Ohio Athletic Conference academic performer and registered five semesters on the Mount Union Dean's List.

A two-year starter for the Purple Raiders, Safran has been instrumental in continuing Mount Union's run at the nation's longest winning streak in college football history (55 games). He was named a First Team All-OAC pick in 2006 and a Second Team All-America selection by d3football.com. Currently ranked No. 1 in the AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll, Mount Union has outscored opponents 395-24 and outpaced rivals by more than 3,000 yards of total offense this season thanks in large part to Safran's efforts.

A three-year participant in the Raider Buddy Program, the Sagamore Hills, Ohio native dedicates his spare time to mentoring underprivileged elementary school students in the local area.

Safran is honored as Mount Union's first NFF National Scholar-Athlete winner.
