Pat,

I am not sure... Maybe because of the level of the game it will be a better atmosphere, but a few years ago when I was at Mount and we had ESPN's Cold Pizza do their live show on campus, there was a pretty good group in the stands and that started at 6am and it was not nearly as recognized of a show. With a show like Game Day that most students probably wake up to on campus (or at least I know in our room we did haha), I really think that it would be a packed house... I think the one thing holding it back, and nothing against them, would be the opponent that day. But, again when Cold Pizza came, it was the day for the last game of the season, and it was Heidelberg that MUC was playing that day. Either way, it's great for Division III and I am sure it will be a great game up in Williamstown.

Speaking of LK...did anyone pick up on the radio that LK made some type of mark on his hand that was supposed to remind him not to yell? Right, like that will happen!  ;)

Hmmm, i know its the oldest college game in the nation, and all the history behind the game, as well as good PR for Div III, but until they come off their porch or their pedestals, however one wants to percieve it, the NESCAC must play with the rest of the dogs on the block to gain some better status within Div III IMHO.
Now Williams has a phenominal athletic program, in fact overall I beleive they are colleges'  the most winningest overall athletic program there is, so why not make it known and come outside the box? Not playing in the NCAA playoffs in football is perceived like the league is abit "too good" to play with everyone else.
I've been to there games both in football and basketball and the atmosphere in the Williams/Amherst rivalry is nothing short of Ali/Frasier match up. Both go toe to toe, which is what i'm sure Gameday is there to emphasize in there coverage but moreso the history and tradition of the game. But Mount has been making history as well, something that quite realistically may never occur again, and will come to and end sometime for sure.  Gameday "giving due" in due time to something as spectacular as what LK has acheived here, really needs to happen. I applaud Gameday for giving Div III some LIMElight as Williams/Amherst is a great tradition and always will be but I think I'll keep my purple shades glasses on in hopes they will see sometime soon where football history is being made.   BTW GO(PURPLE) EPHS!!!! & GO PURPLE RAIDERS!!!

Just been trying to catch up on my reading for the last couple of days and wanted to make a few comments.

Skunks,

I agree with almost everything you said in an earlier post about who Mount should play for their one non conference game and choosing St Johns is on my wish list to. I must take exception to your comment about arrogant and cocky fans. I have not experienced that in any way since I started attending their games in 2000. They could not be more generous and kind to all fans that attend their home games pre and post game. Come game time it is time to take care of business though. They have certainly earned a reputation for having a fine program that is used to winning many more times than not so if that seems arrogant and cocky.....so be it.  Hmmmmmm.....sounds like some place else I know. Annnndddd another program that is much accused of the same attitude. I would defend Mount in the exact same way. I can't tell you how many of their fans have shared stories of their painful but enjoyable visits to Alliance because of the kindness that was shown them by Mount fans. Pre and post game. We all know what the game time results have been.....an old fashion whoooping. LOL. Sorry Dusty! Let the rain begin!!!!! ;D Anyway I hope it happens sometime and if not you should still try and make it up to MN for a game and enjoy some of the Collegeville, MN hospitality. It is quite a time and if the game ever does occur there will be 10,000-12,000 + through the gate. They draw 8,000 for a bad team. Great tradition after the game too. The fans all come out on the field and get a chance to talk to the players and coaches.

As far as the new poster praiderguy wellllllll just don't get any "P" on me please. LOL. And welcome aboard.

Let the playoffs begin. I think it is time for another MUC/SJU extravaganza. Sorry WW been there done that twice, no third times a charm either. Arrogant and cocky I love it.  ;)

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Pat,
Thanks for the props on statistical highlights for the Raiders. I know you always give us a fair shake but I needed to post again because my last one left me at 666 ahhhhhhh the Devil made me do it! ::)

24 points in 9 games MM  MM  MM! amazing. Tough decision this week. Play the starters and preserve the shutout record,(if Cap, BW, JCU and ONU didn't score I doubt the Pios will)  or give a rest to the starters before the playoffs and maybe loose the chance to improve the record. It still may be very possible they can do both.

Kcreds,

Sorry I haven't read you on here much since the early season jousting. Hope the season has been OK even though it may not have been all that was anticipated. I won't be able to make the game in Alliance but may run into you again sometime. Thanks for the Crown....it was excellent. Good Luck.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

raiderguy

TT,

You bet.

I hope it doesn't clash with your pink pantaloons! :-*

One step closer to Salem.  ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

In terms of playing this game any different way than you play the others, not putting words in your mouth I'm sure you didn't mean this, but playing not to get injured a lot of times amounts to someone getting hurt.  Players have just as much chance of getting hurt in practice as they do in the game.  I think LK will do everything the same this week that he does in the others.

Also lets not forget, Mount's first round playoff opponent will likely have four losses.  The three teams fighting for the MIAA AQ are all 5-4 heading into week 10.  I don't think any of those teams would crack the top five of the OAC, so this week's opponent may be darn near as good as next weeks.

HScoach

Yup.  What he said^.  Get used to the 60 point spreads as Round 1 will be another one too ;D

Congrats to Joe Millings for getting the front page of D3!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

D3 Poster

While Mount Union is in a class of its own, the rest of the league has a lot of parity.  Cap's defense is impressive too, but without an offense, it's a lot to ask week after week.

A view of the Pioneer year with the MC tint....

Opener at SJU.  Great atmosphere and experience.  Four turnovers.

BW -tieing TD in 3rd qtr called back.  Few plays later pick for six.  Three tos.

Ott - three ints at the goal line...in the 4th qtr....lose by 18. 4 tos.

Cap leads 10-0 at half..three tos in 2nd half.  Four tos for game. Assman       goes down in 4th qtr and Cap offense with him.  He was having a great yr.

Muskies... a win.  Hmm, one turnover.

JCU - Pios up 9-7 at half...five turnovers in the second half & for the game.

ONU - lose 14-7.  4th qtr TD ruled out of bounds, next td from the one yard line called back for motion.  Zero turnovers.

Heidi..win #2.  One turnover.

Wilmington...#3.  Two turnovers.

A disappointing, but very competitive year so far for the Pios with the exception of the opener.  Turnovers hurt the chances for more wins as well as that slight schedule improvement from Emory & Henry to Saint Johns.

I have no issue, if Mount would like to rest the starting offensive and defensive lines this Saturday for the playoff push.  And if that's the case, no sense in risking Wray or Kmic either.

Raiderguy:

I DID say cocky, arrogant, but "good host" Johnnie fans!   ;D

I would think the two sets of fans are very similar.  I look forward to the day we get to watch another Mount/SJU match-up.  And...I would definitely like to make it to Collegeville one of these days.

HSCoach - It looks like things will be even worse (better?) than usual in the first round.  Never say never.......but if someone challenges Mount in the first or second round (maybe even the third), I would be surprised.

One game at a time......but I am just saying...    ;D

ONU does not open with Wilkes in 2008 - they open at North Central. NC comes to ONU in 2009.
