Lake Erie College will compete next year as an NCAA Division II program.  They completed a JV schedule this year at 7-2.  The two losses were to North Carolina Tech 42-41 and Mount Union JVs 35-14.  Mount's JVs also defeated Ashland this year by a 28-6 score.

Well, now we won't have to worry about LEC fans talking about how great their men's bball team is, only to watch them lose in the first or second round of the playoffs.  I also think they'll have a record for the smallest gym in DII.  I think you can cram about 600 people in there.

Also, you mean Mount's JV's defeated Ashland's JV's, right?  The way you worded that made it sound like Mount's JV team beat DII Ashland.

Close to MUC are D2 Gannon & Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa...Slippery Rock is right over the border....Westminster (Pa) was a D2 in the GLIAC until June 2000 when they went into D3. If there can't be a season game, I'd like to see a August scrimmage. Back in the mid-70's, Wittenberg played a Home/Away series with Eastern Kentucky and D3 Dayton beat Maine at Maine in the late 70's.

All of these are farther distances than most of the OAC schools.  That means more travel expenses.  That effects budgets.  This is not as simple as folks like to make it.

The missing link in all this is there has to be a reason for BOTH schools to schedule each other.  Why would any of the D2 or D1-AA schools WANT to play Mount?
Money?  Nope.
Prestige?  Nope.
What's left?  Nothing.

And why would Mount want to schedule up?  What benefit do they get?  Unless someone wanted to throw big $ at them, there isn't a reason for them to do so either.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

More rumbling rumors from MUC campus: Cincinnati Bengals had a scout at the JCU/MUC game this past weekend. Scouting Pierre Garcon (obviously) and supposedly there to look at Micheli, Kostelnik, Safran, and Blanchard.

This could all be a rumor.

Ric or anyone else, can you dispell or confirm this?

Can't confirm who he was (or was not) looking at, but I did say "hello" to him in the pressbox during halftime.  And yes, it was the Bengals.

Lots of great analysis on the Pool C board......top of page 14 for the north region says it all.

It includes what needs to happen for a 2 loss team to be considered. the scenarios range from 1 one loss team being excluded from the field to 6 two loss teams getting in. Its all there just have a look!

BTW - This isn't a new argument. While there is still an All-Ohio track meet, the DI schools no longer attend. Why? Because Mount Union won the All-Ohio (All Division) Track Meet in the sixties, beating Ohio State, Miami, Ohio, Kent etc. For the younger people here, that was when Mount was a top track power and sucked at football. NOBODY would run us outside of the OAC schools that had to.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I am surprised at the coaches leading in the voting for Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year.  Larry Kehres barely in the top ten at http://www.coachoftheyear.com:80/ but it ain't over 'til its over - on 11/27.

Ok. MUC is NOT moving up a division and thats FINAL! So now the only fair thing to do is create a D3 Superconference and MUC will serve as the initial member. Now who wants their team in also? Volunteers? Nominations? Conscription? I smell a front page poll in the making! Maybe we should limit the size to 7 or 8 teams so members can play outside the conference more. Lets hear it.   Who wants in and why? Will your team compete for a title yearly, or be the designated victim?  Forget geography and travel expenses. Who is worthy and willing?

Thought 2.....after KC Keeler left,  Rowan said that they were done with senior year transfers and instead were openly going to copy the MUC example. They were going to develop a program that  played  those who developed within their own ranks.  Hows that going for them this year? ::) Any ideas what went wrong?

Just a warning to Mount fans of how crazy things can get.  Two Michigan high school teams this fall: week 7, Muskegon 56, Hudsonville, 0; round two of playoffs, Hudsonville 41, Muskegon 7!  (And no, no significant players were missing for either team in either game.)  Can anyone top that for a turnaround? :o

How about the Cleveland Browns !?!

Toph, I think the distance factor isn't as bad as one would think:
MUC to Ada - 2:50 hrs - 162 miles
MUC to Marietta - 2hrs - 127 miles
MUC to Capital - 2:32hrs - 147 miles
MUC to BW - 1:17hrs - 61 miles
MUC to Erie Pa - 2:16 - 76 miles
MUC to Slippery Rock - 1:23hrs  - 76 miles
MUC to Westminster - 2hrs 0 123 miles
Maybe the Irish could be in this Superconference.....

Change, thinking outside the box, being optimistic, paradigm shift ... these are all words that I think some posters on this board (Toph - Reality Check - Ric - Pat Coleman) should consider.
Pat Coleman: I didn't know we could only post in certain forums, isn't that "Forum Descrimination" Mr. Coleman? Why does it matter how many times I've posted & what topics I'm interested in discussing Mr. Coleman?
Toph: I took English 101 in my freshman year and guess what ... I passed!

BTW, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to posters that can see past their keyboards and actually listen to what I was saying! (aueagle - ONUFB77 - rscl70 - Ajwassup)
Thank You very much guys for making me feel like my comments were welcome on the OAC boards!
