WOW!

What a day and I'm just catching the brackets and finally caught up on here.

Let's be real: Mount didn't get shipped to the EAST.  The EAST got shipped to Mount.

I covered the East bracket playoffs with Gordon Mann in 2005 and I'm sorry but none of the teams I called games for (incl. Rowan, Del Val, Hobart and Curry) would have worn out an MUC if they played them week in and week out.  To say that prepping for some of the E8 teams or other east region teams would ding the Raiders up is a slap in the face to the rest of us in the OAC and I would still bet in a down year that ONU or BW could still find a way take out any of those East Bracket teams in a tossup (meaning I think a W and an L in a two game series would be very possible).  They'd be great matchups but I'm saying the 3rd or 4th OAC team would win half its games against East Region conference champs.

Remember you're not allowed to call CAP physical because you didn't play in any of the CAP games.  Tisk  Tisk.   ;)

Usee wasn't starting the war.  You may have opened Pandora's box when you clicked "post".  Also if you think MUC would have more competition for the high school talent, consider the fact that Ohio has 21 NCAA D3 football schools and 34 total NCAA I, II, III colleges to compete with on kids (compared to NY's 17 D3 schools).
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

A thought from the Zanesville paer

"The only team to score more points against Capital this season than Muskingum was top-ranked Mount Union."

From those of us that saw all four Mount Union-Whitewater games
I offer a Mr. T. quotation: "I Pity the Fools"

Sorry "Cru", I think it's going to be a long day.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I changed my mind. I not only want Mount to break 700 points - I want them to score 700 points in the playoffs! Was just reading some comments on the front - the usual 'Mount does not have to prepare for the likes of (insert teams here) week in and week out' yada-yada-yada, blah, blah, blah. More of the standard "Mount has not seen a team like us before". Well here is the reality. Many teams have wished they could play Mount - only to have the wish granted and then get Monkeystomped. The OAC 2nd has won the East before and Mount has beaten the best from the East before (Rowan more times than I can count). SJF hung tough last year - but Kmic was a machine and the passing game was down. Kmic singlehandedly dominated that game.

To the East: I wish you all luck and success in the playoffs.
To Mount: ROLL RAIDERS! RUN NATE RUN! FLY PIERRE FLY! And all that Jazz!

I am curious though, how else do you expect people facing Mount Union for the first time to act?  They are psyching themselves up, so let them.  It's not much fun if you look at the game and with a defeated attitude and just pack it in.  Sure it can be cocky and they may not be giving enough deserved credit (mainly to the conference) but really, what other kinds of reactions are you expecting?

So I take a Karma hit - so be it. It works both ways my friend. How do you expect people from Mount Union facing ...... for the first time to act? It's not much fun if you look at the game and with a defeated attitude and just pack it in.  Sure it can be cocky and they may not be giving enough deserved credit (mainly to the conference) but really, what other kinds of reactions are you expecting?

I hope you're not implying I am the one who gave you negative karma because I rarely do that.

I think it's great that "The East was sent to Mt. Union"... At least it gives us a chance to dust off the cobwebs here on the OAC boards.

A little E8 Nation, and perhaps some LLPP Inc. over here will hopefully drive some more chatter.

Anyway, the Tale of the Tape is here... www.MtUnionFootball.com

Ric is in the house and its playoff time! Usually the best time of year! just not for me this year.  :'(

Usee what team do you call your own?

The Wheaton Thunder is my home team. right now I am just a D3 fan. ( I can't bring myself to be an NCC fan...at least openly) 8)

Watched the final Mount game from the east (visiting) stands again.  Saw something I just felt I had to comment on.

Cheerleaders.

I'm all for cheering and supporting your team, but there should be some coaching given to MUC opponents cheerleaders.

Here's what I mean.  The score is 49-0 in the 2nd qtr and they are cheering "Go! Fight! Win!" and "Let's Go! clap, clap, De Fense clap, clap." "Push 'em back, Push 'em back, Wayyyy Backkkk."  You can fill in the rest of the cheers.  It is kind of awkward and shows a total disconnect from reality.

I think it would be good for the cheerleaders to scout the games and come prepared.

In the same situation, if on offense, the MUC opponent cheerleaders could chant:

"Forget the Punts! clap clap Just Score Once! clap clap"  or  "Get 10 yards!  Get 10 Yards!"

On Defense, they could cheer:

"Come on D, play real Nifty!  Try an' hold 'em Under Fifty!" or "Make  Them  Punt!"  "Make  Them  Punt"

And the all purpose:

"H  U  R  T    Don't Get Hurt!"

Usee.......as someone who has witnessed/posted/experienced the "Mount Experience" I know you get the deal.  And by the way.......LK has GREAT respect for Wheaton and what they have brought to Alliance.  He has made a point to talk about Swider, and a few players.

I think it's a total JOKE for any Empire 8 fan to comment on how TOUGH it would be for Mount to have to "live the Empire 8" experience.  You are joking right?  You are trying to fire up the effort right?  The OAC (other than the WIAC..and I have argued with Pat about this) is the BEST conference year in and year out. PERIOD...DONE....FORGET IT!

However........it IS a little down this year.  We as Mount fans have commented on it.  And it's not been what the other teams have done against Mount this year....it's more about how they played against what should have been inferior opponents.

HEY......JOSE....last year you and I were sitting in a pizza joint in Chicago (a fabulous place) a few hours before the Stagg.  Who knew?

If you need some hospitality when you come this way...let me know.  Catch the Airtran flight into CAK...it's probably as cheap or cheaper than anything into Cleveland.

I'll even come to pick you up.   ;D

Thanks for the info... I can't wait for the game... it will be nice to see how UWW matches up with Capital, seeming they gave MUC there closest game this year...

"Disconnect from reality"? Have you ever spoken to a cheerleader, Dale? I think that the "disconnect from reality" is all yours, m'boy ... a disconnect from the reality of cheerleaders. Do you have any idea as to what level of football knowledge the average cheerleader possesses? Let me put it this way: If you forced cheerleaders to take a football quiz in order to make the cheerleading squad, you would be howling with laughter at some of the answers they gave.

I once overheard a cheerleader say to another on the sidelines, "Do they make them wear those boxy things on their shoulders to make them look bigger and scare the other team?" And my little sister, back when she was a high school cheerleader, once asked her future husband, "What are those big Y things for on the field?" She was referring to the goalposts.

I have no doubt whatsoever that there's a substantial number of cheerleaders out there who wouldn't have a clue that 49-0 was an irretrievably lopsided deficit. Heck, for all your basic cheerleader probably knows, a touchdown's worth the same number of points as the player who scores it wears on his uniform, so if you'll just give the ball to good ol' #50 and get him into that place on the field where there's all that paint, your team will WIN WIN WIN! YEAAAAAAAAA ... TEAM!

Hot Lips Houlihan: Oh, my God! They've shot him!
Col. Blake: Hot Lips, you incredible nincompoop. It's the end of the quarter.

A Mount Union Cheerleader knows that 60 points on the board means she's going to do 312 push ups!  :o

In that case, I hope that Mount Union's cheerleaders are the bosomy type, so that they don't have to go as far to touch the ground when they're doing all of those pushups. ;)

I'm simply thinking of the cheerleaders, WT. Would you want to have to do 312 pushups, even if you were still at the spritely young age of 20?

Any way that they can cut corners with regard to such an onerous task is something for which any compassionate person should wish, I would think. Am I right?
