A Mount Union Cheerleader knows that 60 points on the board means she's going to do 312 push ups!  :o

Hey Rscl70:

It actually depends on how Mount get's the 60 points.  If Zimmerman hits 20 field goals then the cheerleaders would actually be doing 630 pushups in that contest.  Sound crazy...yeah just as crazy as the Bengals who scored 21 points on 7 field goals yesterday.  ;)

How many different combinations of touchdowns, extra points, field goals and safeties can there be to reach 60 points and how many push ups would result from each?  Perhaps some math student could work on this for a project, but not me and certainly not at 6:53 AM!  Maybe hscoach could add a line to the pickems....How many push ups will Mount Union Cheerleaders do next Saturday?  :)

Deep sigh!  I should probably preface this by saying that I graduated with a double-major in Mathematics and Computer Science.

There are 586 different possible ways (combinations) to attain 60 points with 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8-point scoring plays.

Unfortunately, the number of pushups is also dependent on the order of those scores (permutations) so there are many more possibilities.  As my fellow geek altor computed, over 2.7 billion combinations.

But we don't need to check all permutations to determine the limits of the pushup problem.  The worst case scenario for the buxom cheerleaders is 30 safeties, leading to 930 pushups.  The best case is 6-7-7-8-8-8-8-8 point scores which only requires 259 pushups.

Here endeth today's math exercise.  You may now resume hosing down the post list with testosterone.

Cheers!

SJF Fan doesn't speak on behalf of Fisher fans in the E8 Nation I can assure you. Disregard those types of remarks.

RE: cupcake bracket

East is far from a cupcake bracket (minus curry & Hartwick). Look forward to seeing you in Alliance.

Never claimed to speak for anyone - just me and my humble opine.  So Tags, seriously, get rid of the vajayjay and go find your lost manhood.    - Thanks.

To disregard my remarks is to disregard an honest debatable topic.  I believe that there is some legitimate debate for the '07 season as to the level of comp. in the PPC. Obviously we'll find out for sure over the next three weeks.  (UWW vs. Cap, MUC in the East)

Again, good luck.

We tend to get excited about the playoffs, and even say some questionable things, but we do try and catch the flyers.

mr mom:  Even though I'm an engineer, all those numbers my my head hurt

And reminded me why I hated statistics so much ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

1/2 of that was just stupid, so we'll step over that and get to the other half. Calling the OAC patsies is ridiculous, especially when we (the East) are sending teams as questionable as Curry & Hartwick.

And learn how to quote.

The only place that Curry and Wick will be sent is home.  IC, RPI, Hobart, and SJF (not sure about Jersey) are the real teams.  No 50 pt. diff. with them.

For the record, MUC hasn't beaten the better OAC teams by 50 points. It's only 35!

Speaking of which, I went on record over in the E8 Nation stating that Mt. Union won't win by more than 30 points in any of their first three games.

Ithaca, RPI, and Fisher will all stay within 30 IMHO.

PC wanted me to put that up on this board, and that was a fantastic segway.
