ok I asked this last year and never got answer, what the hell is that big purple thing that is Mount's mascot..

The most successful mascot in college football history. "What the hell" do you care?
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

runk

big purple thing is a macaw ( bird for pirate/ raider)

Alright, I just took one for the rest of the OAC.  I picked Ithaca to cover, and since I'm the first and only one so far, I think if it hits, I should be rewarded with double points for the first round.  Or at least for that game!

See, E-8, someone over here does think you have a chance...to cover.

jaypeter

ps--Of the times I picked a Mount Union opponent to cover, I think they only did twice all year...that might not bode well for the IC fans.

Just think of Mucaw as Kryptonite.   He's been around since about Mount's first championship.  Things have been very good since then.

It's supposed to be a big purple maccaw (get it? MUC-caw)--like the parrots on the pirate's shoulder (Raider's old symbol was an old Smee-ish pirate)
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Cold rain or wet snow forecast for Sat. in A town.  South wind 5-10 mph   great football weather.   That big purple bird is a chicken!

Anyone who ever read Treasure Island should make the connection.

OK theaprof you got me.....what the h--- is Smee-ish?
12-0 = 13

Smee was Captain Hook's sidekick in Peter Pan--the guy with the pot belly and striped shirt (like the refs for this weeks games ;D)

Ah, thank you.  :D

I remember the old Mount Union Pirate.  He adorned the rear window of my car when I was in school.  I always liked him, but I guess the college decided that a pot bellied, unshaven, one-eyed old pirate wasn't the image they wanted.  :(

I mean no offense to anyone by this post but WHAT THE HELL is the Mount Mascot...all I saw was a big purple blob....anyone able to give me insight to what he is supposed to be

That, sir, is the famous MUC-caw.  As in a play on the idea of the pirate with a parrot (maccaw) on his shoulder.  Seems that the PR people found the nasty Pirate Raider logo (and also the Smeeish fat guy one that was still floating around) wasn't "fan friendly" so they came up with this play on words quite a few years ago.  Who am I to argue--the little kids love it--and it allows for some fun antics on the sidelines with the cheerleaders.

And here's your answer from last year when you asked the same question.  I assumed you didn't ever come back for the answer and wanted to know why you'd ask again if you didn't care to hear the answer then.  But then I found this:

ok...I guess...it's still reall weird and I have no issues with the color purple considering my high school and city I grew up in had purple as their color but it's a huge purple blob...

So now I have to ask, why do you need to know what the MUCaw is again since you were told last year?  Bored?  Forgetful?  Doeder?

Double points it is!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Can I get the language of origin on "doeder" --- I'm not sure that's a word.

No one knows doeder's origin but we do know he has Jesuit ties and was once traded to B-W after a game.  I'm beginning to think he's found a new home in the East and is allergic to krpytonite.  Beyond that, the mystery continues.
