ok I asked this last year and never got answer, what the hell is that big purple thing that is Mount's mascot..

The most successful mascot in college football history. "What the hell" do you care?

Not any more! There is actually a nationwide contest this year run by the NCAA to see who is the nations "favorite" mascot. The run away favorite? Believe it or not, ZIPPY the Akron U. kangaroo!   Wow, Akron U finally won something in football. :o

Presto...there's a reason Ithaca is in and JCU and Otter are sitting at home.  Don't be foolish.  I don't think Ithaca is going to be anywhere close to Mount, but let's not try to discredit what they've done.

jeesh toph i'm allowed to have my opinion aren't i? i'm not discrediting what anybody did so please refrain from accusing me of that ok? ithaca finished tied for third place and lost 2 games in a weaker conference than the oac. my opinion is they would have lost 4 maybe 5 games in the oac.  i am still allowed to have my own opinion aren't i or should i start checking with you first? and if you want to start calling me foolish you will take this to another level.

Oooooooh.

Isn't he allowed to have the opinion that your opinion is foolish?  Or doesn't that fall under the same "opinion privilege" you wish to have recognized?

Please don't take me to another level Mr. Poster Guy.  Ooooooooh.

Thanks for the support.

I probably shouldn't waste my time doing this but here's my super-duper, top-secret, complex system for determining Robinson is a better back:

I start with the fact that Robinson had more yards on less carries, more TD's, a better yards per carry number, along with the fact that ROBINSON split more carries with his backup (Reile: approx 11 carries a game) than Donovan does with his backup (Baez: approx 8 carries a game).  For the record:

Also, maybe the Ithaca guys can help me with this one, but I believe Donovan shares carries with Baez....for the most part, Robinson carried the mail by himself.
and
Quote from: Union89 on November 14, 2007, 08:32:39 PM
Donovan splits carries and still averages 108 per game while Robinson averaged 112 with all the carries....
Baez's 82 carries appears to be less than the 148 Reile had last year.  I'm led to believe Donovan gets more of his team's carries than Robinson did based on those simple numbers.  Maybe my math is shaky; I'm just an idiot from the OAC that makes things up when I want to afterall.

Back to the formula...I also add in the fact that the opinions of those from the East that have shared their thoughts were unanimous in the fact that NO ONE said Donovan was the better back and Robinson was given the edge.  Then I also take an additional measure that it was mentioned that Ithaca's line is stronger as a whole than Robinson's linemen meaning that Robinson had less help on his line (I concede the fact that SJF's was desrcibed as larger across the board though).  Then as a kicker I look at career numbers and see that Robinson had a better four year career and Donovan's best season by far was his freshman year (ie. regression).

When I add my highly complex formula up, a red light flashes, bells and whistles go off and a DING, DING, DING can be heard.

Advantage: Robinson

Man, I'm done....you start talking about career's, O-Line's, etc......that's changing the original comparison of what you said.

DING, DING, DING....I'm done because you are giving me a headache.

To all the Mount Union Players, Coaches and Loyal Fans,

I want to personally wish you the best of luck in your quest for the DIII National Championship. I have seen you play first hand, twice now, and can honestly say that the players and coaches are a "Class Act". To the loyal fans, you sometimes get a little carried away on these boards with your posts, but that is OK, you have every right to. You are and should be proud of this team. I will say this so everyone can hear as well - the folks in Alliance were very gracious host and displayed perfect sportsmanship, from the players right on down to the fans. To be from the north and host Southerners, you were wonderful and treated all of us with respect. My wife and I met some beautiful folks that day and had some enjoyable talks. I can only wish that I could see this team play during the playoff's. I know when we visited Alliance in Sept., I only saw a small portion of what they are really capable of doing. I think I have said this before – watching Mount Union football was like poetry in motion. They execute flawless. Again, a "CLASS ACT".  Thank you for giving me a couple of opportunities to see DIII football at it's best. My only complaint was that we weren't capable of giving you the competition you deserve. Good luck and God Bless.

Just what would that "other level" be?  Give me a break.  You have your opinion.  I have mine.  I see Ithaca as a 3 loss team at most in the OAC.  Mount, maybe Capital (depending on how the Cru plays...that offense or lack thereof would drive me nuts as a Cap fan), maybe ONU or BW depending on when they caught them in the season.  I'll say it again, they're here for a reason, and your Jackets and my Streaks (who Ithaca would most likely beat pretty soundly) are sitting at home.  And if you're not trying to discredit what they've done, just what point are you trying to make by saying that they wouldn't be in the playoffs if they were in the OAC?  Or are you just trying to stir the pot and make an argument that can't really be proved or disproved?

We do not act like we are in third grade on the east boards.  Kindergarten maybe but no way third grade.

Go Bombers!

There is plenty of sophomoric commentary here.  Just like there is in the East.  I happen to like it.  Some of the posters that think they are working on some preview show for NPR need to lighten up anyway.

I really don't know what this sentence means.  I will just say his opinion of your opinion is based in football.  He said your opinion was foolish.  I happen to agree with him.

Seems like you are taking his post a little personally, doesn't it?  Out of curiosity, can you name someone that likes being "attact[ed]"?

toph that was a poor choice of words what it meant was we can start nitpicking the others post all night but that is stupid so chill ok? so you think the three teams that made the playoffs from the e8 would finish 2 3 and 4 in the oac? i don't and i guess we'll find that out tomorrow and in the weeks to come.  i didn't see jcu play muc but i can tell you bw played them tough and if not for not taking care of opportunities (like seven times inside mounts 30 without scoring) it would have even been closer than it was and i doubt MY OPINION that noone muc plays in the next week will stay within 40 so time will tell.  also you keep acting like just because a team made the playoffs means they are better than all the teams that didn't. you keep saying they're in the playoffs for a reason well ok is olivet for instance better than wisconsin lacrosse? this is football 101 i don't think i need to explain that to you do i? we'll find out in the next few weeks but history tells me the oac is the second best conference top to bottom in the oac and usually they say that because the bottom is so bad maybe your down on your alma mater but bw was a good rb or qb from going possibly 8-2 or 9-1 but thats why they're sitting home now. if mount wins in routs the next three weeks i'd like to know if you still feel the same way? i will be the first person to say if it turns out the east is better than i think it is that i was wrong.

viper i'm not even going to respond that is sad you spent time like that you need a family.

I can't read all that.  It looks like a garbled mess.  How am I supposed to tell where one thought ends and a new one begins?  From what I could glean...I'm not saying all teams in the playoffs are better than ones that are not.  That's putting words in my mouth.  I'm saying that the only OAC game that would be a sure loss for Ithaca is the one they are playing tomorrow.  Would they lose to Capital?  Probably, but again, with that other purple offense nothing is guaranteed.  Would they lose to BW and ONU?  Maybe, almost certainly not both.  They are definitely better than John Carroll (again, it hurts to say that) and Otterbein, with whom you originally compared them.  Good try.  Now head back to BW for a couple of post grad classes...or better yet, head east for your graduate work.
