Back from the game....major props to Ithaca for a well-fought game today.  Their QB is the real deal.  His one receiver #8 was a real jekyll/hyde guy.  Would make a great catch, and then drop a ball when he was wide open.

Mount's pass defense needs to get MUCH better as they move on.  Offensively Mount was "good", but not great.  Great effort by Kmic, and Garcon was the most talented player on the field by a MILE.

I know that the Ithaca people said their kicking game was weak...but COME ON!  I saw the guy warming up before the game and he couldn't kick as well as a few kids I had on my son's PeeWee team.  Couldn't they recruit a kid off the soccer team?

The officiating was HORRIBLE!  I think the penalty yardage was something like 15-150.  There was at LEAST three phantom holding calls, and the Mount kid clearly tipped the ball before hitting the punter but they called it any way.  BAD BAD BAD officials.

First off, the holding calls were obvious holds, and were all in clear sight of where I was sitting on the Ithaca side.  The only bad call by the refs that I saw, was that they missed a hold by Ithaca when Donovan caught that big screen/dump pass for 40 yards.

And I dont think it was clear that the ball was tipped on that punt.

And that was not a late hit on Garcon out of bounds!  The whole Mt. Union crowd on their side when crazy when nothing was called but the kid slipped!  No one on that side of the field could see what happened because it would have been blocked by all the players.

I thought every call the refs made were good calls.  They did miss a big hold on Ithaca, but the holds on Mt. Union that were called were blatent.  And most of them came on those bootlegs where the IC olbs needed to be blocked.

But other than that MUCs offense was too good.  Garcon is the best player on the field 100%.  And Kmic broke some big runs.

And #47 has the biggest arms Ive ever seen.

#33 Parr and #22 McCullough are two amazing players.  Parr's hit on Donovan was one of the best Ive ever seen live.

And MUC's run defense as a whole was the best Ive ever seen at the d3 level.

I was impressed with Ithaca's pass protection.  Juvan did have good time to throw the ball.

MUCs only weakness?  The punter.  He probably doesnt get a lot of action though!

I'm not sure I would discount TCNJ so quickly.

I've never seen them play.  What I do know, is that when they were playing for their conference title, they stepped up big, and pitched a 30 point shut out vs. Cortland St (who does have a fairly established program).  On top of the big win over Cortland, they found a way to win their first round NCAA just like SJF, Curry, and MUC did in the Region.

So, who knows.

They've got no real threats on offense, unless their D plays out of their minds there's no way TCNJ keeps it within 42....

Nice post! I do however believe it was a late hit on Garcon. I was right there and had a perfect view of it (not shielded by any players).
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I was very impressed by the Ithaca Bombers, today.  There were monster hits all over the field and I am sure that both teams will know they were in a battle.
Bomber QB was a warrior.  Hung in, took massive punishment, but kept delivering the ball.  Parr's hit on Donovan was painful for the fans in the stands...OWW  what a collision

I thought the Ithaca was the strongest team physically we have seen all year, and their offense was the best we have faced.
#25 Bomber had a great game defensively, seemed to be everywhere.  The frosh LB had some great moments as well.

Mount punter seems to leave the 50 and 60 yard bombs in pregame practice....I would like to see him back up a couple steps and walk into the snap a bit.  The long snap appears to get there very quickly, but the punter always seems under pressure...
I believe that Mount will have a punt blocked before the playoffs are over...

Kmic broke  a couple records today...OAC TDs...broke Moore's record of 72, and also broke Ken Sasu's career OAC rushing yards...I do think however the fact that Kmic gets to count playoff yards gained is a bit unfair to those coming before him whose playoff yardage did not count toward official stats.
Kmic will probably break them all in the end, however, he would not be there just yet...

All in all, probably the toughest first round opponent for MUC for quite some time... Some great smashmouth football today...congrats to both teams...

PS....Q.  What kind of an automobile does Jim Tressel own??

     A.  a Lloyd Carr

Ugly win in the big house...but a win....what happened to Boeckman's confidence?

Jonny Utah

I dunno.  I saw the whole thing pretty clear too.  I mean, he broke two tackles after he was wrapped up on the sideline, and then he broke free and started to run again, and then kind of duckes and slipped out of bounds.  And it was right in front of the MUC bench and coaches and none of them even said anything!

Anytime a personal foul happens in front of your bench, the team and coaches always go crazy.  I didnt see it there.

I think we are talking about the same play.

BTW ....   officials were from the NCAC....
quit griping about them...game's over...just be glad you do not see them in league play....

I do  believe it was a late hit on Garcon. I was right there and had a perfect view of it (not shielded by any players).  My seats are right at the 28yd. line and no obstruction. If Garson fell or not is not the call, he was hit in the white yard line after he ran out of bounds.  The hit was not a big hit, however, it was a no hit touch zone peroid the end.  IC throws 39 times with 4 to 6 or 7 Radiers coming yet not one holding call, Right.  The NCAC refs. need not show up in Alliance.  Stick to the play in their conf.

Its not possible that MUC just held more?  And why didnt any players or coaches react?

Watching the replay of the game and the holding call that brought back Garcon's TD run was really questionable, and a you eluded to there was a quite a blantant hold on the play before the 40 yd dump pass play. But after that on the ensuing TD pass over the middle with 23 secs or so left, Parr was collared and pulled down qutie obviously and from two different camera angles!! Obviously angles the refs couldn't see??  ::)  geeeez Its obvious the NCAC refs for the past few years of playoff games have been nothing short of horrible and in some peoples' eyes abit deliberate in their calling of games. From my understanding there was someone there as an observer purposely to watch these refs calling the game, hmmmm, imagine that!
