As far as running up the score... Isn't it the job of the defense to stop the offense from scoring.  Not to mention, it isn't like the Patriots can put in the JV's, they don't have JV's.  Was it classless going for it on 4th down?  Maybe...

Either way they were going to score points.  And like Bellicek (sp?) said, he felt like it gave their (Bills) defense a chance to make a stop.

As far as MUC running up the score, I don't think they do in intentionally.  Sometimes even when you put in the JV's you score points.  What are you supposed to do, take a knee three times and punt?  Now that would be classless.

Point being, if you don't want to get beat by 70, stop them.

Exactly.  If MUC was a national team, and the IC game was on TV, you would have a few clowns asking why Micheli was in the game on the last series when the game is well in hand.  I hear the crybaby anti-patriots people do it all the time.

How about for fear of risking injury?

Yea you take that risk though.  Whats the chance of someone getting injured on any given play?  The Patriots now still have to worry about home field advantage.  4 touchdowns is nothing in the nfl.

Uh, I've only been saying that on the E-8 page for a week and a half now.

Uh, thanks, I must have missed it.

Uh, I was trying to get others to give their opinion as well.

Oh, Capital, if only they could've been in the non-mount bracket in '05 or '06.

My outlook on the future is bright tho!

The deffense will reload, their coaches on D have an uncanny way of developong players.

Offensivley, they will adjust well to whatever their strengths are, Collins has proven to so in the past couple of years. I just wish the stable of running backs they had the past couple of years was a little more spread out through the classes as they obviously look pretty thin there.

Small but Slow

Players are more prone to injury trying to play it safe.  I'd be nervous with Brady in the game with a 46 point lead myself, but more worried about losing a lineman for whom I don't have a backup for each one.

I'd be most worried about a DL on the other team taking offense to the fact that New England chooses to go on 4th down with 42 point leads when they could kick a field goal.  Said DL may decide to cheapshot Mr. Brady to take out his frustrations and the Patriots could then lose the (current) best player in the NFL.

I would be willing to assume that the defensive players are trying to take shots at Brady when he's in that late in the game.  It seems that the Patriots O is just that good at protecting him.  On another note, and I believe this point has already been made, but it's worth saying again, we're talking about men who are paid large sums of money to play this game.  Running up the score shouldn't even be in the conversation when you have professionals on both sides of the ball.
They should have practiced harder.

Tom Brady was on the radio today, and talked about running up the score and a lot of things we are discussing here.  He mentioned a few interesting points about the whole thing.  Its a good interview and you can listen to it here

http://www.weei.com/pages/268228.php

-When you are up by 42 points and its 4th and 1, you don't need 3 points.  You need to run out the clock and get the game over with.  Unless your kicker needs some work, just run the ball

- The Patriots like to work on 4th and 1 plays.  They like to see how different plays work against different defenses.  Sure, they might need to work on onside kicks too, but at least this is part of the game.

-Brady, Moss, Stallworth, Welker and K. Brady have only been together for 10 games (30+ quarters with blowouts)  They need to be on the field as much as possible (3 quarters) in order to keep getting better.

-Getting better was one of the main points Brady had to say.  The Patriots only beat the Colts by a few.  That means they arent totally unstoppable.  They still need to improve and they still need to practice.

reality check

I officially retract my MUC/New England question.  I had no idea it would result in a debate for days about whether or not Belicheck is a jerk and how much opposing defenses would try to knee-cap Michigan Boy.

New question:

MUC is averaging 271.5 yards rushing a game on offense (good for 11th in DIII) and TCNJ is only giving up 64.2 rushing yards a game on defense (good for 6th in DIII).  How many yards does MUC run for against TCNJ?  100? 200? 250? More?

reality check

Steve Gunter will have OAC company in the defensive backfield for the Aztec Bowl.  Capital's James Starks is confirmed to play in the Aztec Bowl.

Marietta's Clay Ream is also slated to play for the USA in the Aztec Bowl.

I know we've had two OAC reps in the past but this might be the first time for three OAC'ers on the roster at the same time.  Anyone know for sure?

The last time the Aztec Bowl had three OAC players on it, you have to go all the way back to 2006. :)

It depends on how many holding calls Mount gets called for.

Ya, to hurf's point you can count on at least 73 holding calls that aren't legit, just a way to help the other team stay close...

Once you get past those, I'd probably say around 200 yds - they haven't seen anything like they're going to see in that O-line & Kmic... he'll get ~125-130, and that's with TCNJ playing well.

Ric

I've been asked a number of times what happened to the audio highlights on my site this year and there are two main reasons there haven't been any.

First and foremost, I have been extremely busy this fall.  Second, when I did try to add some I had some technical difficulties with my new laptop (i.e. I didn't know what I was doing).

Anyway I just wanted to let those of you know that had been looking for them that I have added six audio highlights from the Raiders win over Ithaca.

I should say Ric & HScoach on the call LOL. Go Raiders!
