I have no problem with a former player doing games.  A former player on the air is always a plus.  Some listeners I'm sure will wonder though how impartial a SJF alum will be in an SJF contest.  The JCU guy calling a MUC game is a little different situation.  I'd even let KMack cover a Catholic game if I was you.   ;)

He was very impartial Saterday -- at the SJF game.  This weekend will be no different.

As long as this doesn't happen to me in Alliance on Saturday, I'll be thrilled :)

Ok I'm going to put my foot down, You guys are being rediculas I know Robby and I know the SJF communication department and that is an incredible department at the school, so obviouslly Robby will be a little biased, can you blame the kid, but he is a profesional, and Frank, someone made the comment that Frank was an east region guy, Last time I checked this WAS THE EAST REGIONAL FINAL!!!!!!  so guys lighten up, let Frank be the good broadcaster that he is and have fun this is football, it is meant to be fun

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Just a few of my thoughts....

- I dont think guys in the east have anything against Garcon.  I don't anyway.  I love watching him and I'm glad a guy like that stays d3.  That really says something positive about d3football, Mt. Union, and the whole process.  I did kind of question (and we all speculated a whole lot!) why a 1-AA school like Umass didn't scoop him up though.  What is better for him to get to the NFL is another whole topic in itself.  I personally feel that 1-AA has an edge in that sense.  Frank brought up some good points to counter it.

-As an Ithaca fan, I want SJF to win for a few reasons.  First off, it makes Ithaca look better, and will undoubtly help them in any pool-c question if they end up beating SJF next year or if it comes down to anything close.  Secondly, I know one of the SJF coaches and I wish him the best.  I might even go to the Stagg if they make it.  If  SJF doesnt make it, I hope MUC wins it all, and Ill explain why below.

-I love the Mt. Union College football program.  I love perfection, and I love dominant football programs.  I also relate to a lot of those guys at MUC.  I was the same way.  A little undersized and slow to get the 1-AA full ride, but I still wanted to play the best football in the country. Besides one man on MUC, there are no d1 or nfl players there.  All this talk of MUC moving up makes me laugh now a little.  Those are d3 football players that give their best plain and simple.    And why I went to Ithaca is probably why a bunch of MUC players went there, to win a national championship.  I probably could have gone to some higher ranked schools than Ithaca academically, but you can take those rankings and shove it.  Theres nothing like playing good d3football with a bunch of class guys in a nationally ranked program.

-Im not going to put words in Franks mouth, but he was in no way implying that Garcon illegally highered an agent to get him to Mt. Union College.  (If he did hire an agent, he would be at Umass :-X)  We don't want posters to grab a thesouraus every time we make a post here.  Lets not overeact with semantics.

-I agree that Franks post regarding calling fans out in the stand was worded a little akwardly, but I got the sense that he simply wants to call things like he sees it, and that he wasnt looking for trouble.

-Although I would agree that a professional broadcaster would not mention anything negative about the home place, especially things that are not football related.  (thats the point I think people were trying to make)

It's usually better to talk about your desired new subject rather than just complain that people aren't talking about what you want them to talk about ...

I think it's high time someone address Orrville and/or the Shmucker's Company.

If only someone were qualified to do so...

It rolls off my fingers pretty easily. It comes up so often I was thinking about putting it in the FAQ.

But then, you'll always have to type to them, "Read the FAQ," when they bring it up again. :)

frank the tank is a good guy and if you heard any of his previous broadcasts he is completely impartial....heck pbr grew up watching psu football games and george paterno used to rip his brother apart on the air for his coaching decisions....sometimes alumni and people connected w/  a program are more harsh commenting on it just to prove they arent showing favoritism

There has been talk on the board before that so far, Mount Union has had only a couple of minor tests this year.  Capital gave them a "close" game in the regular season, and Ithaca gave us probably the biggest test of the year.  Even though SJF didn't win the conference, most think they may have been the best in the E8 this year.  With all that said, is this the week that Mount Union really has to struggle and fight to pull out the win?  Yeah, we tend to do better the second time around with opponents, but if Mount Union finds themselves in a close game with Fisher driving towards the end, will they be able to stand up and hold them out?  We've seen what happened in other years when we had easier roads to the playoffs, and they didn't always end well.  We've also seen them turn it up and fight harder in the adversity.  Which will it be this year?

theaprof

I think our D is going to put a major stop on the SJF offense (I'd say a major hurt, but I don't want to have anyone jump on me for wishing injuries (which I don't)).  SJF will likely score, but I think Mount wins by at least 32.
