I was asked earlier why I thought MUC would win by at least 32.  Here is my answer:

Micheli, Kmic, Garcon, and Wray are all capable of big running games.  Bruney will get a few good yards as well.  If Morring is healthy he only helps the situation and gives the D more problems.

Kmic, Garcon, Wray, Boehm, Bruney, Shorts, and Davis can all hurt you on both short and long passes.  And especially their ability to run after catching the ball.  The 5 wide out set is scary to see.

Our O-line is big, strong--and fast.

Our D-line is scary strong--and fast.  They will be in SJF's backfield all day long. (RC--thanks for the note on my mistake ;D)

Our LBs are monsters to the ball, especially DeRiggi, Yoder, and Rees.

Our D-Backs play more like linebackers especially Kostelnik.

I know the game is played on the field--and I could be wrong--but my gut says we win by at least 32.  And I think the D will score at least once.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Mount has run some form of the spread for years.  They rarely line up in the same formation time after time.  They do however emphasize it to the max this year due to Micheli's talents.

Some coaches have a "system", and plug players into their system to be successful.  LK adapts his offense philosophy to fit the talent he has in any given year.

Another sign of greatness.

Yea from what I can only relate from what Ive seen in the Stagg Bowls, MUC seemed to run a lot more spread this year.

And who is the MUC offensive coordinator? Here's a guy that needs to get some credit too.  (It seemed to me that he was calling the plays in from the sideline?)

How is that going to help them against SJF?   ;)

Larry Kehres wass in denial.  That's great.

I don't have the energy to read through all that, but I never said Kehres was in denial dude. I'm saying it wasn't the reason they didn't pass --- fans using it as a reason the game was close is what I was referencing there.

Yeah you never said LK was in denial.  LK gives a post-game interview describing an injury situation.  You respond to LK's comments with the statement that it's a classic case of denial.  I guess I went out on a limb there thinking that since you were responding to LK's statement that somehow, someway you were saying LK is in denial since he's the one that made the statement.  Silly me.

Perhaps you should look for the energy to read some of this stuff since what you did there didn't seem to be working.  I guess I just don't have a problem with fans using something LK says as a reason for anything.  He seems like a pretty reliable source given his track record and all.

The fact that you guys can list the losses you've accumulated from the past decade on one hand is crazy...It gets me everytime.
Not to be too picky but those are  the losses over the past twelve years.

well Curry is no MUC... except they both wear purple... but I can see Voz, slowing the pace of the game down...  GO FISHER!!!!!

and rscl70 please repeat what you said in your last post so the rest of MUCnation can hear that, the game was close....throw the stats out the window

THIS IS OUR TIME NOW!!!!!
I'll add my two cents.  The game was close but MUC controlled the game.  Their ground game allowed  them to and the injured QB pretty much necessitated the ground game would be the way to move the ball.

I just didn't think it would be fair to Gags and crew to rub in the fact that MUC is still playing this Saturday by sending the D-line up to Collegeville and having the second teamers play the Cardinals in Alliance.   ;D

theaprof, you can have all the typos you want as long as you don't replace Yoder with Doeder!

Is this the first or second year MUC has been running the spread offense?

It is a least the second year.  I'm actually not sure when they began to use it.  Perhaps one of our other posters can answer that.

The spread, in it's current form, I don't know.  But I was a Freshman at Cap when MUC won their first title in 93.  I recall, plain as day, that LK ran a few four receiver sets back then (I don't recall him ever going to 5-wide since that was almost unheard of then and Gresko was too big a weapon to take off the field, and the way he caught passes out of the backfield, why would you split him out).

Of course with the WR's and TE's he had at his disposal in 93, why wouldn't you run 4 receiver sets.  Bubonics, Sirianni, and Lyons were the top three WR's and Atwood and Tyla were the TE's.  Bubonics and Sirianni would line up wide, Lyons was in the slot, and sometimes Atwood, but usually Tyla when he came in the game (Atwood was more a pure TE, could both block and catch, Tyla was an OK blocker but a much better receiver and faster... more of a mismatch), would flex out to give the 4-wide look with Gresko in the backfield behind Ballard.

Scary, even today, to think of that.  ;D

It's not just the OAC board, but all the boards seem to be slow this week...even those boards with teams still in the hunt.  It's pretty sad when I'm starting to become one of the more regular posters!

There seems to be a "lets see what happens on Saterday" approach going on
