I noticed that when you look at team stats comparing 2006 and 2007 in just about every stat Mount Union is better this year than last, while for St. John Fisher, statistically speaking, 2006 was a better year.  Now there can be different reasons for this, but two simple ones are either the team is better or worse, or the competition is better or worse.  For Mount Union I think its both, the competition is a bit down this year, but I also believe this Mount Union team is better than last years. What about St. John Fisher, is the competition that much better or is there another reason for the decline in stats?

While I've busted many E8PPers chops throughout the season, I'll admit this much:  Hartwick and Alfred were definitely stronger this year -- as were Rochester and Curry -- Buffalo State was an improvement over Mount Ida schedule-wise -- Ithaca was about the same -- Springfield was down -- King's was down -- and the rest

of their schedule was basically status quo.  So, all told, there were five schedule improvements, two disappointments and five status quos.  I think that would definitely point to strength in SJF's schedule this year compared to 2006.

(Edit:  The Curry improvement I guess would be debatable since they technically replaced Springfield from 2006 on SJF's playoff schedule.  However, the crux of my argument remains the same.)

Was Alfred stronger this year?

Their game against Rochester cemented that for me after those shaky three games.

Just out of curiosity, it wonders me what MUC posters might have to say in this room if -- and that's a very large "if," to be sure -- the Raiders will at some point become just another "normal" D3 team (e.g., a winning season one year, 5-5 the next, along with the occasional losing season).

Ithaca is in kind of a wierd category themselves.  They havent had a losing record in over 40 years, theyve won 3 titles, great records every year, but havent hosted a home playoff game since 1994.

I hate to be obtuse, if not dense, but what's with the Great Lakes references?

OK, but does that mean me ... or the Raiders? Kindly advise soonest.  :P

It may take a few years, but IMO, Mount Union will begin a gradual decline when Kehres leaves...no matter who takes over...they will be strong and stay in contention, but I do not think they will be as dominant when LK hangs em up...

realistic

agreed Raiderpa...I think SJU is in a similar boat whenever John hangs them up regardless of who takes over (internal or external) but both programs should still be very very good.

by the way...WHO IS THAT FEMALE POLE VAULTER??  (no crass statements please...haha)  WHERE CAN I GET THAT PIC FOR A SCREEN SAVER FOR A DIRTY OLD MAN??? WOW

QuoteMount is and will be the most  DOMINANT program that we ever see and will stay that way untill they decide otherwise.

Most ridiculous statement of the year?  Mount will continue to dominate until they decide they don't want to dominate anymore.

Ri-ight.
That was quite stupid!

The chances of that are about the same as Notre Dame having a slump...cant happen. ;)

I agree LK is one of the best and to replace him cant be done but he has taken the program so far that a winning season (winning the conf and losing in the playoffs) is not acceptable and the kids that go there understand this but we will have to wait and see.  But untill then keep the National titles coming. ;D

As for the 5 years and 5 teams I had a medical redshirt due to a broken leg as a junior, so I consider 5 years and 5 teams.  3 National Titles and 2 losses in that time, and they were some great teams.

Never you, Warren.  That's what the Raiders will do at 5-5 or worse.  (JK folks, relax.  STEP AWAY FROM THE SMITE BUTTON!)

Are we giving out some kind of award for the most quotes in a post. Must be an Eastern Region board thing. Let your comment stand on it's own merit. It's nice when we can get more than three posts on a page. (and of course when they make any sense at all 8)) Can't smite what I can't figure out
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
