There is amusing sarcastic banter (AO), and then there is your post.  Yah....the reason Mount lost to MHB in 2004 was because they were AFRAID of the big bad QB from Linfield.  Hmmmmm...maybe the Linfield QB lost to WW in 2005 because he was afraid to play Mount in the Stagg.  Both statements are totally ridiculous.

Hey....history is a great thing.  It teaches us much.  However, regarding the most recent play-offs (2006 & 2007), Linfield can only talk about how GREAT their QB was, and how "those were the days", back in 2004-2005.

Get back into the play-offs, make a run, and then come on and run some smack.  Right now, just go to the NWC board and talk about how omnipotent the "Cat Dome Advantage" is.   ::)

Skunks,

If only AO was only part of  the NWC Board......he is a frequent MIAC Board poster and backer of Bethel.  Please know that his insight and comments come without an ounce of validity or support.  He likes to stir the pot but often succeeds in making his readers dumber for having read his drivel.

Wow.......I had temporarily forgotten Davis' awesome effort on that TD.  He has really come into his own this year, and that play alone puts him up into epic status.

Red.....I know AO is a MIAC regular.  I was referring to his most recent posts in here as being amusing.  CRISWYLY however, is a NWC shill who is still living in 2004, and has a Bret Elliot Fathead on the wall in his room down his mom's basement.   ;D

Welcome back to the OAC board, OLineMom and Llama. I called my former boss from the Norfolk Southern in Roanoke today and told him to turn down the covers in the guest room as Kevin and I should be in after school Friday night.

I guess we should start rolling the peanut butter balls for the buckeyes. Figure I need at least twice as many this time.

I mentioned it before on this board, I turn sixty on Saturday and the only present I want is another father/son trip to Roanoke/Salem. Promised Kevin a morning trip to the O Winston Link Museum in Roanoke and then another party in the parking lot.  Hope it all works out.

We will have the vittles and hospitality waiting for you when you get there! Drive safe. ;)

After MUC dispensed the East without much of a sweat, we can stop questioning if the rest of the OAC was down this year.

I believe this is the most talented Purple Raider team I've seen in my 40+ years of OAC viewing.  Hopefully, they continue to operate at a high level for two more weeks.

Guess what team, Kmic and MUC has had their lowest rushing totals this year?

Kmic had 39 yards versus both the Muskies and the Pios, but the other Raiders did manage to help pile up a total of 425 rushing yards vs Muskingum.

Against Marietta, the Raiders rushed for a season low of 145.  On the down-side, the Pio dbs were no match athletically in giving up 418 yards passing.  Kehres does a nice job of taking your weakness and beating you over the head with it!

On a positive note for Marietta and the OAC....Marietta will be hosting the '09 NCAA track & field championship.  All high school sprinters that can play rb or db, please apply to Marietta immediately.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I see what you saying.  But sometimes it seems that in d3, the top 2-4 teams (one team from each region) are really heads and shoulders above the rest of the country.  So I wont be suprised (It has happened, look at 2000) if 3 of the final 4 games are closer scores than the 13 previous scores for MUC, UWW, Bethel and MHB.....

Isn't that the way it supposed to be?  The deeper in the playoffs you go, the tougher the competition?  We all know it isn't always the case, but I'd be very disappointed if the playoffs were easier than the regular season.

No you are right.  But it just seemed that recently, the top 3-4 teams in d3 are head and shoulders above the rest, and that the playoffs reflect that (especially the Stagg Bowl).  I dont think there will be as many blowouts in the future as there were from 1995-2005

The funny thing is when you are on the other sideline (as I was for 3 SJU games vs Mount) even when you know its coming....there is little you can do about it.

Expecting to win can also cross the line to overconfidence.  I, as many, thought SJU had no chance in '03.  MUC apparently had no weaknesses and the Johnnies' star player was doubtful, and if available could not be healthy enough to play effectively.  I was sadly mistaken.  Elliott was incredible and Coach Gags and his staff had a game plan that kept both Mount's offense and defense on their heels all day.  I learned a lesson that day myself.

I did too and thank God I made the trip that weekend.   ;D

Small but Slow

It's tough to put a finger on the exact formula for Mount's success in big games.  It's not done with smoke and mirrors.  It's not done with tricks and gimmicks, the players are not always be the biggest or fastest, but they are always very well prepared and have respect for the opposition.  Not to downgrade other coaching staffs or teams, but part of Mount's success is due to the players' passion for the game and the intensity of their preparation.

Congrats to Micheli for his first-team Academic All-American honor.  Is there anything that kid CAN'T do?   :)

Congrats to Blanchard and Safran for their second team honors.  Quite an accomplishment for those individuals, the team, LK, and the school.

What is this board called-"Try to tell secrets about the mysterious origins of AO board"?  If someone was that concerned they could have clicked on my bio and looked at a goofy kid that played ball for another school that isn't bethel.  Here's some info you might not know: Bethel is my school's (Northwestern) biggest rival.

It seems to me that having a healthy Wetzell on Saturday could make the difference as he is an uncommon talent that not many teams (including Mount) have seen in the past couple years.

YES!  Would someone please mark down the time and date.......it took less then two days until we get to see the usual....."you haven't seen" line.   ::)
